Moon in Hasta

Moon in Hasta  – Moon in Virgo

“I’m not a man who constantly thinks up jokes. But I think it’s very important to be able to see the funny side of life and its joyful dimension and not to take everything too tragically. I’d also say it’s necessary for my ministry. A writer once said that angels can fly because they don’t take themselves too seriously. Maybe we could also fly a bit if we didn’t think we were so important.”

— Pope Benedict XVI —

The classics say that one born in with Moon in Hasta will be sensually disposed, enthusiastic, clever, good in speaking, but disposed to thievery. He will be rich and be intent on living in foreign places. He will show enthusiasm in war, at which he will be an expert and will destroy enemies. The native will be industrious, devoted to love & virtue, valorous but addicted to females, and will serve others. He will befriend the learned and live in opulence. They have active habits and many resources they can draw upon. They are energetic, daring, shameless, merciless, a drunkard and thief. (The Classics: Varahamihira, Brihat Samhita, Sage Narada, Hora Sara, Jataka Parijata.)

Moon in Virgo: Bepin Behari say that the Moon in Virgo “makes the psyche susceptible to influences of earthly life and involved in pleasures derived from sensual gratifications. It will be almost shut against admonitions coming from the higher plane.”

The dual nature promised by Virgo is found in Hasta through the relationship between Sun (ruling deity) & Moon (ruling planet). On one hand they are strong, daring, protective or guardian figures; while on the other hand they are lighthearted, practical-joking parental figures. They are usually community minded and like being with family and friends. They might seek out roles that allow them to serve and protect, healing, healthcare, and wellness. They are servants and fixers. They can be a little suspicious and untrusting, possibly because they are themselves known for their trickery which can lead to theft. They usually have good dexterity and coordination of mind; of body; between the hand and the eye. It can be a good place for Hatha Yoga, gymnastics, wrestling; mental gymnastics, wrestling with problems.

If the Moon is afflicted and poorly placed these Hasta folks can be cruel, lying, cheating, thieving, employing trickery to make a living; addicted to wine and women; always chasing after the opposite sex and often taking advantage or their relatively innocent looks. They can be emotional and easily triggered bringing, which causes them to become insolent and heartless. They are usually comforted by a little handi-work, fixing or crafting things, offering protection and shelter to the less fortunate.

“We can fall, but in the end we fall into God’s hands, and God’s hands are good hands.”

— Pope Benedict XVI —

“If we take the Lord’s hand and let ourselves be guided by him, the path we take will be right and good.”

— Pope Benedict XVI —

Tall and stout, calm nature, smiling, The moon here makes them a comforting parental figure who gives no real reason anyone can leave them. He gets respect and honour from society and will sacrifice his life for others. He is always ready to help others. Despite all this they get a lot of criticism and opposition. They can be plebeians who don’t like posh living even if they do have money. The Moon rulership of Hasta also brings many ups and downs in life, Hasta placements can be very sensitive to what is going on in the world. For all their sincerity and hard work, they often end up with medium success. They do, however, tend to work at fairly high level careers in business or industry; tradesmen or craftsmen; social services or health care; military or war. They can be vengeful; but can learn to leave the revenge to god and withdraw from conflict. They are quick to intervene in disputes and give good advice. They typically have really good all around knowledge and will take on many responsibilities.

Females with this can be argumentative and outspoken (usually a more difficult trait in women). Curbing this tendency will be to her benefit as she often does not think of the consequences of what she is saying. Express themselves shyly (like a virgin/Virgo). Often unemployed due to support from family or husband, they make good housewives and find comfort in habitual movements of house chores and taking care of the family. They tend towards plumpness and a soft body. If they are born into a very poor family she may go into agriculture or the construction trades.

Moon in Hasta Pada 1, Aries Navamsha: Quick, strong, militaristic, materialistic, advanced problem solvers, good at mathematics,. They fight to win and can be especially quarrelsome and aggressive when they drink alcohol. They may suffer many ups and downs in life, have poor health and get into accidents. Despite all of this, they typically like philosophy, especially things like “The Art of War,” “The Prince,” and Clausewitz’s “On War.” Ultimately they want to apply technique to solve problems. They can be into health and healing: massage, acupuncture healing, meditation when this is very well placed. This same mind can be applied to mechanics to airplanes, cars, buildings, or computers as a service tech or some such specialisation. At heart these people want fix things with fire and steel, penetrate, which means they can also go towards police or military as well. This pada tends to be the most critical and aggressive part of Hasta. Mars can be very directly aggressive a war like when placed here.

Moon in Hasta Pada 2, Taurus Navamsha: Pushkara Navamsha. Mercury is exalted at 15º and moolatrikona from 17º to 19º degrees. Moon is in her exalted Navamsha. They can be a little slow but they typically have good family values and less enemies. They are typically handsome and have a stable mind with some knowledge of scripture. They may have trouble with their parents, love music, watery places and animals. They can also be proud, dishonest and careless.

Moon in Hasta Pada 3, Gemini Navamsha: These highly mercurial people deal with a lot of information, communication. They can either be very chatty and friendly or completely absorbed in their work. Many seem to have a cruel streak that may come from everything being just numbers and information; they loose the human dimension to what they’re working with. The duality is strong here; they are good communicators and analysts, story tellers and accountants, they can be very flirtatious and get involved with all kinds of group efforts and might seek remedies by reaching out to others, through meetings and workshops. They say that friendships are born form enmity with this Moon. This can include healing and wellness groups, group therapy. They tend to remain emotionally immature in some peculiar way.

Moon in Hasta Pada 4, Cancer Navamsha: The moon can do very well here. They are very good teachers, parents and helpers; respectful, brave, kind, clear minded, and typically have control over their senses. They can be protective of the home, family and local community. They are often guardian figures protecting and helping the weak, the injured, and those who cannot help themselves. Long friendly face. Mars here is likely to relate the person with war in some passive aggressive way.

BPHS: 4th lord in the 6th house: “The native will be given to wrath and theft, he will have a questionable character, be self-willed and vicious. These natives are often adopted. For Taurus ascendant debilitated Sun will cause a great lack of happiness, dejection, mother will not be well disposed and one remains sickly.
