Brihat Samhita: When Saturn transits Uttara Phalguni, trouble will befall kings, jaggery, salt, hermits (or mendicants), water and the town of Taksasila (or Taxila), which is an ancient ruin town in Northwest Pakistan. A popular tourist place in modern times listed in Unesco in 1980 while Jupiter was transiting Uttara Phalguni. It has been almost irreparably damaged from war, corruption and neglect. It’s believed the name means “cut off head” which is a reference to the Buddha who, in a previous life, cut off his own head to feed a hungry lion near this town. It was famous as a center of higher learning the great political strategist Chanakya, author of the Arthashastra (The knowledge of Economics) taught here. Panini mentions it in his grammar texts, and even the infamous founder (codifier?) of Ayurveda, Charaka, spent time in Taxila. The Mahabharata is said to have been first recited here and it’s claimed to be founded by Bharata who gave it and a neighbouring city to his two sons to govern. Often used as a capital city, it was abandoned around the 5th century.

Qualities of Uttara Phalguni

Shiva – Destructive tendencies: Uttara Phalguni tends towards destruction, ending, finalising things.

Sage Palasthya

Sage Palasthya: He lived alone in a small hut in the top of the Himalayas and spent his days watching everything and everyone in the lands below him. He lived as simply and peacefully as could be. But he had these little girls who kept looking on his mountainside and he did not know what to do about it; but since it was usually only the girls carrying on and making noise he decided that any young girl that came to his hill would get pregnant. The threat worked until one day a hermits daughter, knowing nothing of the news of the world, came frolicking through the forest singing with delightful abandon. Of course she found herself knocked up by this strange curse. When she explained it to her father, he took her back to the forest, found the sage and demanded that he marry her. He was happy to do so. Together they had one son named Vishrava, and he had two very famous children named Kubera and Ravana. Ravana was the king of the Rakshasas. He was the author of the Vishnu Purana, which details fundamental concepts of Jyotish and mythology. He was also the originator of the Puranas: Brahma told him the stories and he passed them down to Sage Parashara. Vishrava, Agastya, Kinnaras and all the Rakshasa were his descendants. He taught the Mangalya sthavam prayer to favour the completion of any jobs in proper fashion and without hindrance. He also taught the proper way of doing Vedic ritual: Take bath, do sandhya vandanam, and collect enough water to sprinkle over the  homa articles and the  house. Do achamana and start the Vedic rituals.

Note: sandhya vandanam is a small ritual done at sunrise, noon and sunset. For sunrise we have 48 minutes before sunrise and 24 minutes after,  for noon hour sandhya we just have 24 minutes on either side and sunset allows 24 minutes before and 48 after.) Achamana are the purification rituals, nyasas and various preparatory rituals that will be different for different gods and lineages.

Human: Used in chart matching but since it suggests that humans should marry humans it also points to a critical personality difference amongst people. They say that Devis should also only marry Devis, and that Rakshasas should only marry Rakshashas; but Devi’s and Rakshasas can make a match in some circumstances. Though the Rakshasa partner is sure to bring disgrace to the Devi partner. Why humans are not supposed to marry outside of their clan suggests that it’s perhaps because they have no divine purpose like the other two. The endeavours brought on by these nakshatra’s might be more human endeavours, which also suggests that the time for them may be more limited.  They also say that humans may strive for divinity but the often fail due to their own all too human proclivities.

Kshetriya: Warrior caste likes battle, leadership, politics, war and sports. Competitive challenging activities that build heat.

Moksha: The goal here is to accept and let go, to release, liberate oneself and others. Expenditure, loss, release are the themes. One usually seeks to go beneath the surface. Expect planets in moksha nakshatra’s to support all kinds of loss, liberation and freedom.

Dhruva – Fixed: slow and steady wins the race. It can be difficult to change the mind of a Rohini and they like to make things that will last. This is a good nakshatra for beginning anything you want to be durable. Ceremonies, weddings, coronations, starting a new job, opening a business, moving into a new home or any one of the 16 samskaras. Construction projects or laying any kind of literal or figurative foundation can begin on this day. Sundays carry this kind of energy suggesting that it’s also a good position for any kind of spiritual practice that you want to be a fixed routine. Rohini, U. Phalguni, U. Ashadha, U. Bhadra are also fixed.

Balanced: Here we find the balanced approach. Allows free will and fate to meet in the middle. But sometimes even balance can come at the cost of rigidity.

Rajasic: Function through the mind, emotions, intellect in a spiritually active way. They want to satisfy their passion, achieve something, gain something for their effort.

Fire: rises up, expands, illuminates, transformers burns, cooks, assimilates

    • Fire + Air = cooperation / Earth + Water = Cooperation / Space cooperates with all.
    • Earth does not cooperate with Fire and impedes Air
    • Water does not cooperate with Air and impedes Fire

Vata:  Air + Ether = Cold, dry, light, moving, subtle, clear, hard, pervasive, rough

    • Flighty, spiritual, thin
    • Disturbed by bitter (Mars), astringent (Saturn), pungent (Sun).
    • Pacified by sweet (Jupiter) & sour (Venus)

Female: Imparts female characteristics to the live karakas of planets placed here.

East: You might find the auspiciousness of this nakshatra in the east. If the moon is here you might find your place of comfort in the east. With Venus, your symbols of love and beauty and perhaps your girlfriend may be in the east.

Adho Mukha – Downward Facing: Relates with research, containment, underground activity, digging wells or mines, drilling for oil, digging up the garden or other trenching activities. It may also relate with shame, pessimism or low self worth that causes you to keep your eyes cast downward. In the Case of Uttara Phalguni it relates with the idea of looking down from up high or illuminating from above. Bharani, Krittika, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, Vishakha, Mula, Purva Ashadha, and Purva Bhadra. Planets like Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu share this nature.

Bull / Male Cow (pairs with female cow Uttara Bhadrapada) Libido and competency. Libido refers to willingness and eagerness to have sex; competency refers to the ability to fulfil those aspirations. In humans we also have to consider values, ethics, and perhaps opportunity. But in bulls we mostly just want that strong libido which gives them power & productivity. Their primary job, though, is reproduction, to make strong calves.

Bulls are famed for their strong libido, as well as making a mess of everything as they go along their way. Bulls are infamously polygamous and a strong bull is happy to impregnate a whole herd of cows. Even scientists studying mating behaviour of bulls for the beef industry joke that the “Single biggest stimulus for a bull to mount is merely the immobile romp of a female (or something similar).” A bit of competition tends to be good for them and increases their sexual response.

Bulls are well known for their aggressive dominant attitude, but nature has a way of dealing with this. The whole herd gets weak when one of the bulls gets overly dominant. Their sperm and competence are reduced while at the same time they chase the more competent bulls away. They actually found that their dominance hierarchy of bulls usually had more to do with age than with size or aggression. And of course the dominant bull is typically found to have impregnated most of the females.

Auspicious Activities

Signing contracts is supposed to be especially auspicious when the moon is transiting Uttara Phalguni. As is giving to charities or establishing charitable foundations. This is a fixed nakshatra meaning that the moon’s transit makes it a good time to begin things that you want to continue. Moving into a new home, starting a new job with long term prospects, marriage or sexual are all said to be auspiciously performed under Uttara Phalguni. The fixed nature of this nakshatra is indiscriminate so you will also want to avoid things that you don’t want to have a permanent place in your life. Avoid your enemies, and don’t get into disputes, it can be a good day to make peace, if peace is sure. Raises and promotions on this day can be auspicious, any steps you take to improve your life or bring dignity to your position will have long lasting effects. It can be a good day to start any kind of self-improvement regime, health or fitness practice, spiritual practices, yoga, mantra; anything you want to be a permanent part of your life. Ultimately it’s a good day to thank our ancestors for the shade of the trees. Shiva and Parvati were married under this nakshatra making it one of the best days of the month for marriage, especially in the month of Phalguna (February – March. Sometime around Shivaratri or Holi).

Health:

Sex organs, hands, arms, skin sensitivity, digestive trouble.

    • Sensitivities of the eyes and skin to sun light
    • Vision problems
    • Stomach problems
    • Sexually transmitted diseases.
    • Some question s could be raised about the differences between the right hand path and the left hand path.

Gods & Symbols of Uttara Phalguni

Lord Aryaman

Aryaman: rules over patronage, favours, kindness. One of the Adityas, Sun gods, often invoked with Bhaga or Mitra. The wooer known leadership honour, nobility, chivalry, rules of society. Helps a friend in need. Gives prosperity through marriage or union, protects inheritance. He is said to be the best-friend of Indra and sought to be like Pushan who always has a flock to lead.

Aryaman is the one we ask for favours, the person who can get things done and make things happen. This may be the king or advisor or some highly placed person, but it can also be a janitor who is in some position to do favours for even the common people who have this will have people grovelling at their feet. The wicked King Henry VIII, The Magnificent Suleiman, Empress Wu Zetian, along with Churchill, Obama, Ben Rothschild. The king of Blues: BB King. The Queen of Pop: Brittany Spears.

From a spiritual perspective, whenever we ask god for a favour or plea for kindness we are praying to Aryaman. Of course kings, queens, and others who are in positions to do favours for other have placements here.

Story of Shukra Dev, King Janaka and the Lamps

King Janaka with Shukra Dev carrying the oil lamp in the background.

When Shukra Dev first met his Guru, King Janaka, he was told to take an oil lamp in each hand and go around the whole palace before returning. to report about what he saw there.  But if even a single drop of oil from the lams fell on the carpets, he would refuse to teach him.  The king sent a couple attendants to keep the oil topped up as well.

The poor young Shukra dev carefully went through every room in a couple of hours and returned to the king visibly anxious and happy to be done with the ordeal. But when King Janaka asked him what he had seen; Shukra dev admitted that he saw nothing but the light of the lamps as he was so scared to spill any of the oil. The kind laughed, but said that task had not been completed as we was supposed to report on what he’d seen in the palace. So Shukra dev set out again, this time taking the whole of the day to carefully use the light from the lamps to examine the palace furnishings.  When he returned to the king he was able to elaborate on even the finest details of the palace.

The moral of the story being that if we just focus on God, we will miss the beauty of the world that god reveals to us. ll of those beautiful things in the palace are as fleeting as each one of our lives. We should not get attached to these objects, but as long as we keep the light before the object we are capable of true appreciation for the material abundance and beauty of the world.

The King said: “Just as you kept you attention on the lamp, so should you keep your attention on God, not letting a drop of your desire slip away from the lamp of God-revealing wisdom, while at the same time devoting part of your attention to thoroughly performing the God-given duties of maintaining yourself and others given into your charge.”

Indifference to spiritual matters leads to selfishness and hoarding which causes unnecessary suffering to others and eventually depresses the local economy.  Hence those who want the power of kings, success in political, business, family, or community affairs ought to maintain the awareness that all of these objects of the senses belong to God (Shiva) and are illuminated by Gods power (Shakti).  As the Christians say: “Be meek in the eyes of the Lord” for he is the patron who gives us this whole world.

(This story really belongs with both Purva and Uttara Phalguni as it teaches us how to deal with the fruits of life. Purva Phalguni teaches us how to enjoy those fruits while (especially the last 3 pada of) Uttara Phalguni teaches us about our duty to share those fruits.)

Patronage: The patron-client relationship may be official or unofficial. It typically involves someone with more wealth and/or power offering support, encouragement, privilege, or funding to someone with less power or wealth. There may be conditions attached to the support and even if they are not explicit, it’s generally understood that the client should avoid disgracing their patron. It’s a kind of, “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours,” agreement. This is usually a very political relationship that we see with NGOs pushing the agenda of their donors. Artists, influencers, media figures, and news organizations might likewise get financial contributions and opportunities for career advancement in exchange for following the script. But patronage is not always a bad thing. The patronage of Uttara Phalguni essentially represents not just wealth and power, but wealth and power with connections. This may be used for good or evil, which is exactly what the last three pada in Virgo suggest. Virgo rules over both healing and war and the logic that can easily make a case for both sides.

On the side of good, patronage funds much of the arts, writing, philosophy, even astrology. Most artists, writers, astrologers, craftsmen at least get their start through patronage. Often, the client is a student or their work is not particularly valuable in the marketplace. This may be temporary like the student, or a more permanent, like the philosopher. The patron might support them with a monthly allowance or they could open doors to galleries, publications, and/or contacts. In a small common way, this can look like purchasing some amateurish painting because you want to support the person who painted it; not because it’s a really nice painting. You might see some talent that you want to support, or you might just support the arts in general. This can be a bit of a gamble on the side of the patron.

We can easily distinguish the patron-client relationship by guna: Sattvic, rajasic or tamasic. The Tamasic relationship is the insidious I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine and may involve illegal or unethical conditions attached. In all likelihood the patron-client relationship will be kept secret as one or both parties seek to satisfy only their own base desires or greediness; possibly by tearing down more righteous parties. The goals of this relationship are usually very clear, but not very pure. The rajasic side patronage gets used to bring good name, advance career goals or make some money. Both people want to use the patronage to get ahead, but they are not typically up to anything illegal or unethical; though they could be working in some grey area. The thing about rajas is that it moves us from one place to the next: this could be to a more sattvic state of existence or it could be to a more tamasic one. Venture capital works at this level. The more satvik patron-client relationship seeks nothing or it seeks only to achieve the most sublime ideals: wisdom, beauty, justice. But patronage is almost always a gamble since the he or she does not know if their client will truly serve enlightened justice, or express any kind of authentic wisdom.

Patronage system simplified

The patron represents the patriarchy and the priesthood. The father-son relationship is similar to the patron-client relationship. The patron often contributes out of a sense of duty or obligation. But the son also has to help his father achieve his goals which usually involve social standing, wealth and power. We know what can happen to papas support when the son makes trouble or drops out of university. From the Sattvic point of view, this same father will have a duty to provide for his disabled son who is not capable of advancing his interests; but papa would certainly drop in social standing if he did not support his disabled children. If he were to keep supporting the troublemaker who is perfectly capable then his social standing would likewise diminish.

Fresh Rudraksha mixed with the dried seeds.

The Colour Blue: This is the royal blue; the blue of the sky, the blue of a peacock feather, the blue of a fresh rudraksha, the blue of the visible light spectrum as it dissolves into ultraviolet light. Many of these blues are not actually made by any blue pigmentation, this is the blue caused by structural colouration. These things only look blue because of the optical effects due to the scattering, diffraction or unequal refraction of the light rays. We get this effect in some of the new age art that completely changes the image depending on where you are viewing it from. We have special dyes that can only be seen under UV lamps, like on money, to help ensure authenticity. Authenticity is especially important to pada 1 placements. The value that is minted in Purva Phalguni is given the stamp of approval in Uttara Phalguni.

Ultraviolet light is also used in health care, water purification and even sanitation. In times of pandemic they have even begun selling air purifiers that use ultraviolet light to kill microbial bacteria and viruses in the air. It’s used to treat a range of skin conditions, including: psoriasis, eczema, jaundice, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and localized scleroderma.

Ultraviolet light stimulates the production of Vitamin D in the body. Vitamin D promotes the creation of serotonin which is one of the more durable happy hormones allowing us to feel a sense of calm and well being. The production of serotonin is in direct proportion to the degree of bright sunlight the body receives. However they typically say that just five or ten minutes of direct sun on any part of the body is usually sufficient for the day.

This is a partial list of technologies that are primarily based on ultraviolet light and their wavelength. Wavelength, frequency and the technologies using those frequencies are likely to correlate with Nakshatra padas. It’s an interesting array of technology that can help us understand this nakshatra:

  • 13.5 nm: Extreme ultraviolet lithography
  • 30–200 nm: Photoionization, ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy, standard integrated circuit manufacture by photolithography
  • 230–365 nm: UV-ID, label tracking, barcodes
  • 230–400 nm: Optical sensors, various instrumentation
  • 240–280 nm: Disinfection, decontamination of surfaces and water (DNA absorption has a peak at 260 nm), germicidal lamps
  • 200–400 nm: Forensic analysis, drug detection
  • 270–360 nm: Protein analysis, DNA sequencing, drug discovery
  • 280–400 nm: Medical imaging of cells
  • 300–320 nm: Light therapy in medicine
  • 300–365 nm: Curing of polymers and printer inks
  • 350–370 nm: Bug zappers (flies are most attracted to light at 365 nm)

Stars of Uttara Phalguni

b Leonis (Denebola or Danab al Asad) Two fixed stars in the tail of the Lion extending into Virgo. Western astrologers considered this to be the more peaceful end side of the Lion, still a lion, but less likely to eat you. Though they do enjoy a good game of cat and mouse. his is the more peaceful side of the lion. They (Ptolemy) saw it as having the nature of Saturn & Venus: slow, immoral, shameless, revolting, mean, and suffering many sorrows in love. It’s said to give swift judgement, despair, regrets, public disgrace, misfortune for the elements of nature, happiness turned to anger, and it makes people noble, daring, self-controlled, generous, and busy with other people’s affairs. It’s said to rule the front of the chest.

In transit it can act as a trigger for major catastrophes. If in the ascendant with Mercury it’s supposed to be quarrelsome with an appreciation for the courts. Anywhere in a chart with Mercury and Uranus in Denebola is supposed to cause incurable mental problems. This would mean everyone born between 1966-69 would have serious mental problems. The funny thing is that many countries instituted Mental Health Acts in this period that essentially makes us all wards of state discretion. So you might not be crazy, you were just born into a crazy world. Fortunately it won’t reach this again for another 30 years; 2050.

The Muslims called this star Al Sarfrah and believed it was good for harvest while hindering seamen. It’s a good time to try to teach some manners and proper behaviour to servants, captives and companions. When the moon is transiting is good for travel, navigation, sow, ploughing, getting married or sending messages.

The Chinese call it Zhāng, which means “extending net”, or spreading out. It’s related to festivities that are spread out, the divvying up of game after a hunt, portioning out, or gift giving. The moon transiting here is good for relationships, rewards, promotions, industrious work effort. It may, however, come on the back of sickness or death of an authority figure (Leo is 8th from the 10th.)

Tree of Uttara Phalguni

Rudraksha tree (Jivri tree, wavy leaf fig)

The rudraksha seeds are strongly associated with Rudra, one of the fierce forms of Shiva. The ‘aksha’ part of the word is most commonly associated with “teardrops” but rudraksha are also considered to be the “eye of Shiva” or the “spiritual knowledge of Shiva.” Aksha is also associated with protection as the beads are used as a protective amulet as well being used for counting japa or mantra; especially those related with Shiva. The seeds have anywhere from 1 – 21 faces, each associated with a different god or goddess in relations to Shiva. Five faced rudraksha are the most common, and some rare ones can be very expensive. It’s always good to keep in mind that a real rudraksha will never float, nor will it be affected by boiling water. The ripe fruit appears as blue berries; but the pigment of the skin is not blue; the blue colour is caused by microscopic structural details that cause the reflected light to appear blue. This is actually similar to peacock feathers which are pigmented brown but appear to be a radiant delight of colour.

Structural Colouration: This is caused by wave interference of light passing through two separate geometrically diverse patterns. Frank Evers Beddard (1858–1925) describes is well: “The colours of animals are due either solely to the presence of definite pigments in the skin, or … beneath the skin; or they are partly caused by optical effects due to the scattering, diffraction or unequal refraction of the light rays. Colours of the latter kind are often spoken of as structural colours; they are caused by the structure of the coloured surfaces.” ~Beddard~

Rudraksha is one of the rare occurrences in plants, though there are other blueberries in nature that get their colour structurally. Very often the colour will change depending on where you are standing. The golden mole also gets its lustrous golden colour this way. Interesting to note that both William Henry Bragg and Gabriel Evers Beddard; two Nobel physicists who helped us to understand this effect both have significant placements in Uttara Phalguni. It’s important to note that Purva Phalguni and Uttara Phalguni are two parts of the whole Phalguni so Purva Phalguni likely relates to the beauty of this effect.

Key Themes

They typically achieve high positions of wealth and power. They are held in esteem by others as they are always willing to do a favour and have their favours retuned. They are usually humanistic, interested in social work or remedying the ills of the world through philanthropy.  They will often seek to entice their friends or colleagues to join their cause. If they do not have a meaningful cause to pursue they may develop resentment, and relationships can become co-dependent.  They are, for better or worse, typically immune to criticism and extremely enterprising. and achievement orientated.

From a spiritual perspective the four legs of the day bed represented by the combination of Purva & Uttara Phalguni may be related to the four stages of sleep and awareness. One of the main aim of Uttara Phalguni is to accommodate and foster siddhis and latent abilities. Aryaman is like the Great Father who wants his children to reach their highest potential, and quite often we need to work closely with others to make it happen. They have high standards regarding both work and ethics and expect them to be met.  Ambition pushes them to evolve. Seeking short cuts causes devolution.  Due to their revolutionary activism they might find themselves a target of assassination.

This is very much how patronage favours work. Once the boss does someone a favour, they are indebted to them.

Powerfully confident, industrious, and radiant. Due to their confidence, they tend to get favoured for marriage, promotion, gifts and these kinds of pleasantries; but these blessings often come with extra pressure to perform, to make agreements, or to keep the peace. They can be prone to getting into scandal. Nonetheless, these folks are strong leaders who inspire confidence. They usually don’t feel the need to put on a show or flaunt themselves like Purva Phalguni might. They are also much harder workers who take life and their leadership duties more seriously.

Male Uttara Phalguni: “A proud and arrogant disposition, with a tendency to ride roughshod over other peoples’ opinions. They are extremely intelligent, but because of their inordinate pride, they accept favours ungraciously even when in need and are ungrateful to those from whom they receive these favours.” They are infamously hot-headed.

Female Uttara Phalguni: “A joyous healthy disposition yet quietly so. She has a very soft pleasing voice, bubbling over with fun and humour. She is born to a family with social background and loves to mingle with her friends in various social activities. Yet, she is not frivolous, but beneath her joyous manner, rather serious minded. She has fixed principles from which she will not deviate. She prefers to choose her friends from among the people who are artistically inclined and cultured. She is efficient and adept at managing her home and her domestic life.”

Ascendant in Uttara Phalguni, Leo Rising, Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Pushkara navamsha. They need a lot attention. They run an empire in come way. They are not just up on the stage, but they are the headliner; the one every one came to see. Political power, or being close to those in power is certainly a theme.

Leo Rising: “Ambitious, avaricious, warm-hearted, with a big liking for art, literature and music. They are cheerful and unimpulsive. Magnetic in appearance with broad shoulders, bilious constitution, average height, oval faced, thoughtful countenance and upper body is generally better formed than the rest. They can adapt themselves to any condition in life. They have faith. They are sincere in affection. They stick to orthodox principles in religion but are perfectly tolerant. Generally good tempered and sensitive. They are lovers of music and literature and generally possess a certain amount of philosophical knowledge. They are voracious readers. In life they do not succeed as they would like and often struggle throughout life and their ambition remains unfulfilled. They lack a natural policy and hence get into difficulties. They are forgiving and do not hold a grudge for long. They are likely to suffer from nervous troubles and are generally misunderstood by their boss and superiors.” — B.V. Raman

Sun in Uttara Phalguni

They carry themselves with a royal bearing and leave little doubt about who the boss is. They are usually powerful and don’t take grief from anyone. This is the boos: the sun glasses and cigar meme. Honour is very important to them. Shakespeare’s rousing speech from King Henry V speaks of fighting for honour, which they will always do. We find also in Ken Kesey’s words that they tend to lead from the front and lead by example. They tend to give to medical charities. many are childless and they often have stomach problems causing them to become obese; though they might just be “big boned.”

I have an interesting combination of a male prostitute who had his 5th lord Sun conjunct 1st and 8th lord Mars in the 6th house. He had many high end, boss-man clients, his job was to dominate them. He suffered a lot of abuse himself.

Peter Smith (Sun in Virgo – Uttara Phalguni 12th house): He spent much time in the university laboratories with his students, where he was the big guy taking care of the fine details and directing research and development. Mercury and Sun are in the 8th house from his moon, fuelling the research into artificial Intelligence for use in heath care & war.

B.B. King – King of the Blues. (Painting by Martin Deane)

BB King, known as king of the Blues, has both Sun & Mars in Uttara Phalguni, in Virgo & Leo respectively. He wrote great hits like “Paying the cost to be the Boss,” “Big Boss Man” & “You’re the Boss.” He also supported a centre for childhood diabetes, the Tibet House, and precious paws.

Leonard Cohen also has this in his first house. It’s not hard to see similarities between these two musical greats. Cohen also sang about a “Famous Blue Raincoat.” He give to the Red Cross and has donated to special causes like the Australian Bushfire victims.

Queen Elizabeth I of England did a lot to encourage the study of medicine, surgery and the natural sciences in her time.

King Henry V (Sun in 7th house Virgo – Purva Phalguni) One of his only notable achievements was to win an important battle in the 100 years war that allowed France to be united (on paper at least). The 6th lord in the 7th house commonly brings unity through war. But we don’t remember him so much for his actual achievement, but for the famous speech Shakespeare ascribed to him in his mostly fictional play; “King Henry V. ” This speech has been repeated before many famous battle scenes in Hollywood.

King Henry V

King Henry V: “If we are marked to die, we are enough

To do our country loss; and if to live,

The fewer men, the greater share of honour.

God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.

By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,

Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;

It yearns me not if men my garments wear;

Such outward things dwell not in my desires;

But if it be a sin to covet honour,

I am the most offending soul alive.

No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.

God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour

As one man more, methinks, would share from me

For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!

Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,

That he which hath no stomach to this fight,

Let him depart. His passport shall be made,

And crowns for convoy put into his purse.

We would not die in that man’s company

That fears his fellowship to die with us.

This day is call’d the feast of Crispian.

He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,

Will stand a tip-toe when this day is named,

And rouse him at the name of Crispian.

He that shall live this day, and see old age,

Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,

And say, “To-morrow is Saint Crispian.”

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,

And say, “These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.”

Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,

But he’ll remember with advantages

What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,

Familiar in his mouth as household words,

Harry the King, Bedford, and Exeter,

Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,

Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.

This story shall the good man teach his son;

And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,

From this day to the ending of the world,

But we in it shall be remembered,

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,

This day shall gentle his condition;

And gentlemen in England now a-bed

Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,

And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

…. All things are ready, if our minds be so.”

— Shakespeare, “King Henry V”

“It isn’t by getting out of the world that we become enlightened, but by getting into the world…by getting so tuned in that we can ride the waves of our existence and never get tossed because we become the waves.” “You don’t lead by pointing and telling people some place to go. You lead by going to that place and making a case.” “The job of the writer is to kiss no ass, no matter how big and holy and white and tempting and powerful.” “I’d take a look at my own self in the mirror and wonder how it was possible that anybody could manage such an enormous thing as being what he was.” — Ken Kesey

Bepin Behari Sun in Leo:: “Will make the individual extremely self-centred: the message is that “you are the god.” In case the individual could rightly, in all his humility, which can happen if he is spiritually evolved, comprehend the message, it will lead him to all glory. Otherwise, the strain of the impulse may be unbearable, often leading to nervous breakdown.”

Bepin Behari Sun in Virgo: “synchronises with the ascendant, the individual will be capable of getting mysterious knowledge of the universal spirit pervading every event of life. It will demand that the individual gives up his personal attachments.”

Sun in Virgo: “They express themselves in a somewhat argumentative way that is sure to make problems for them when they are young. They are typically very bright, logical and reasonable, good with taking care of all the details, following the correct procedures and solving problems. They tend to be at the centre of controversy, war, blame and accusation, health initiatives trying to fix things through favours.”

Pada

Sun in Uttara Phalguni (Leo) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Pushkara navamsha. Political power. Celebrity entitlement, powerful position for patronage entitlements. This position can burn a little too brightly bringing with it ego issues, expressing themselves like the top dog while other planetary placements decide where they actually are entitled too this position of patronage.

Sun in Uttara Phalguni (Virgo) Pada 2, Capricorn Navamsha: They get close to the seat of power through hard work. They are often kinda spokes-people for the minority they represent. BB King was king of the black culture. Tegan and Sara Quin are spokesmodels for lesbian and LJBDQ culture. Ken Kesay was On the Road, even Modi is portrayed as a chai walla speaking for those who have no voice. Agatha Christie made huge money shining a light on crime and logic. As Ken Kesay say’s; these people are not here to kiss ass, they are noise makers, complainers.

Sun in Uttara Phalguni (Libra) Pada 3, Aquarius Navamsha: Writers, musicians, dramatists with large populous fan base, many friends and connections; but a close inner circle of all the popular kids. Of course most of their friends also suffer addiction, and imbalance in life and potentially crime running rampant in the places the visit in the marketplace. Clinics, hospitals.

Sun in Uttara Phalguni (Scorpio) Pada 4, Pisces Navamsha: Pushkara navamsha. Social work. Hospital and health care. Patronage of foreigners. Eye, spinal cord or neurological problems.

Moon Uttara Phalguni

Valhamira tells us that this person will be beautiful and lovely, earning money by his literary merits, happy and an enjoyer of the senses. They are comforted by being near the seat of power where deals are made, or playing the third wheel where intimate bonding takes place. They are comfortable giving and receiving favours. They are usually somewhat theatrical, with a powerful creative intelligence. They might feel like a saviour, a king, a Christ which can become more of a duty when this is in Virgo, whereas in Leo this is likely to be a more pure or spiritual feeling. The great father figure; the great authority.

The Leo side of Uttara Phalguni is much more about celebrity entitlements, political theatre and unique expressions of creativity and the seat of power. The Virgo side, however, seems to bring people closer to the blue collar crowd and servants, They are also likely to be comfortable with criticism, or in situations that are imbalanced due to illness, crime, argument or addiction.

Patronage: Charles Bukowski received patronage from the book-seller and publisher who supported him with $100 per month for life. James Boswell signed away his inheritance for a monthly allowance of 100 pounds, which was doubled after he graduated from law school. Confucius also survived from donations from his patrons.

Marquis de Sade, besides being Marquis and a Count, his family belonged to The Nobles of the Sword.” He joined an elite military academy when he was 14, went to war by 15, and by 23 returned home as Colonel of a regiment of dragoons.

Venture Capital: Investment in small business and start-up companies with the hopes of long term gain. Private investors, banks or even government programs might seek to drive innovation and profits in this way. They usually seek out small companies or ideas that have exceptional growth and profit potential. The returns on investment can be well above average when compared with stocks and other market options, but the risks can also be considerable. In what they called a “total boss move”, Serena Williams started SerenaVentures

James Boswell was an intellectual socialite who achieved fame by writing the biography of his much more famous friend, Samuel Johnson. He got by spending time with literary geniuses who were considered well out of his league intellectually, but he was accepted in the crowd because of his good nature and easy humour.Uttara Phalguni people are usually good hosts and enjoyable people to spend time with. Boswell was, according to his journal, always in love with some new woman and spent plenty of time with the whores as well. He had a curious agreement written up with his wife while they were still dating. They had been together for several years, though he was constantly flying about with different infatuations and completely unsettled. He had her sign this “obviously jocular” agreement dated August 8, 1768, written by Boswell in full legal form, in which she commits to not marry him during 1768 nor to insist on his promise to marry her at a later time, “considering that Mr. James Boswell, advocate, my cousin, is at present so much in love with me that I might certainly have him for my lawful husband if I choose it, and the said James being of a temper so inconstant that there is reason to fear that he would repent of his choice in a very short time, on which account he is unwilling to trust himself in my company.” It has been said that when the moon is in Uttara Phalguni in the 1st house that they will seek security through contracts and agreements; and they will of course be very careful with these documents. Of course this also suggests they will seek personal security and comfort through marriage and long term partnership.

Moon in 1st house Leo – Uttara Phalguni (pada 1): In Sai Baba’s chart we find all the traits of a patron or grandfather figure in his personality. He’s definitely the boss and has been criticised for the theatrical tricks he uses to dupe the gullible and faithful masses. This first Pada in Sagittarius so it brings with it a broad global humanistic outlook of Pushkara amsha.

Moon in 3rd house Virgo – Uttara Phalguni: This combination allowed Mel Gibson to direct and produce the financially successful but controversial  “The Passion of Christ” in 2004; during his Jupiter Moon period. In regards to acting, this combination really allows a person to get into character. One of the drawbacks is that they might come to over identify with their self narrative and miss the truth.

Moon in 5th house Leo – Uttara Phalguni (Pada 1): Very good placement for literary fame and productivity. Susan Miller of Astrology Zone and Charles Bukowski were extensively productive writers who branched out to other media. It brings a sensitive emotional intelligence, comfortable in the spotlight.  They put themselves fully into their work and into expressing the inner reality, a culture,

Charles Bukowski

Charles Bukowski: “ A love like that was a serious illness, an illness from which you never entirely recover.” —  the well known alcoholic, womanizer & race track junkie gained literary fame by the power of the exchange between Moon & Mercury; 3rd and 5th houses. He brought issues of addiction, crime, servitude and poverty to the centre stage and he was comfortable as the tell-all ambassador or the disenfranchised. His words romanticised addiction, mental illness, poverty and suffering. “There’s a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out, but I’m too tough for him. I say, “stay in there, I’m not going to let anybody see you.”

“Find what you love and let it kill you.” “You begin saving the world by saving one man at a time, all else in granidos romanticism or politics.” — Bukowski

“If you’re going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don’t even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives, and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery — isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you’re going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like it. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It’s the only good fight there is.” –– Bukowski

People with no morals often consider themselves more free, but mostly they lack the ability to feel or love.” “I loved you like a man loves a woman he never touches, only writes to, keeps little photographs of.” — Bukowski

Moon in 6th house Virgo – Uttara Phalguni: can be good for healing or caring for the ill, the imbalanced or criminal elements. In one end of the spectrum one might grow up impoverished, parents might suffer addictions and there may be chronic and toxic imbalance in the home. The parents might have convinced them that they are the source of imbalance or a child might learn this on their own somehow. Of course this gets carried into their own adulthood and their emotional problems take centre stage; which in itself might be the source of the problem.

On the other side of things one may have very good knowledge and sense of compassion and caring for the sick. Since these folks have Aries ascendant they could also be in the police, military, social services, health care, working with addiction and poverty.

Moon in 8th house Virgo – Uttara Phalguni: they could be working with the details of death to establish wills, work in a mortuary, hospice, the insurance business. They might be involved with making secret deals or even dealing with the small details of secret rituals. They wouldn’t normally associate with the darker or dirtier side of death unless their moon is really heavily afflicted or in the heat of passion. Anton LaVeu, the founder of the Church of Satan has this moon.

Alexander Graham Bell had this 6th lord moon in his 8th house. In addition to being a researcher has spent most of his life working with deaf-mutes teaching elocution, lip reading and phonetic writing; all the while experimenting with sound and audiology. He is famous as the inventor of the telephone. He also aided in the production of the “Silver Dart,” the first aircraft built in Canada and well as building experimental ships for the Army. His experiments with sending sound through light waves took almost 100 years to bear fruit in fiber optic technology we began utilizing in the 1980s. His Rahu Moon period was a bit difficult: his wealthy inlaws purchased a house nearby, his fourth son died in infancy towards the end of the period in Rahu Moon Ketu, He invented the metal detector using induction. He eventually died from diabetic complications.

Fiber Optic Cables

Moon in 9th house Virgo – Uttara Phalguni is likely to make someone a professor teaching on a contractual basis. Very detail orientated. Partner is also like to be a professor. Might be engaged on a global scale with much travel and work with people of different belief systems, Deepak Chopora likely has this placement (rectification is necessary to make this fit). I believe he does a lot of consulting work. Guthrie also has this in his chart and was known to collaborate with almost anyone who needed a good spin for their product. He also travelled extensively.

Moon 10th house Virgo – Uttara Phalguni: as 8th lord well isolated in the 10th house he was well accustomed to danger and he eventually died in his work when. He was famous for his fearless work with reptiles. “I have no fear of losing my life. If I hve to save a koala or a crocodile or a kangaroo or a snake, mate, I will save it.” “Yeah, I’m a thrill seeker, but crikey, education is what is most important.” His family maintains a wildlife reserve and he had good knowledge of veterinary and emergency medicine, as well as unsanctioned folk remedies. His Moon period began when he was just three years old. “Since I was a boy, from this house, I was out rescuing crocodile and snakes. My mum and dad were very passionate about that and I was lucky enough to go along.” “The first crocodile I ever caught was at nine years of age, and it was a rescue.”

Moon in 12th house Virgo – Uttara Phalguni: will do much of their work behind closed doors or in foreign places. They could be involved with government intelligence assets, secret planning. They could also be involved with shipping and transport, working on the high seas. An infamous pirate has this position, so does Jean Paul Palomeros who worked for the air force but spent much of his time stationed on an aircraft carrier. Kira MacDuff also lives near the ocean and has spent much time at sea. She also does one-on-one counselling work in isolated settings (where she lives). Even Gordon Lightfoot worked on a fishing boat, but Mars with this moon gave him a heavy drinking habit. Johnny Rotten’s chart probably needs a rectification that would put his Moon in this situation. He was also a heavy drinker with no limits on Ketu aspecting. He also worked for a year as a taxi dispatcher before getting into music. It’s not quite international shipping like we expect from this placement, but close enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gordon Ramsay has this placement as well, he’s another guy traveling around drinking too much. Vladamir Poolesland also has this

Moon in 12th house Leo – Uttara Phalguni: can bring with it heavy drinking and lots of late night celebrations and literary parties. Bright, extravagant, intellectual affairs. They might have foreign friends and it’s likely they will lose all their profits this way and many of their friends. This kind of behaviour can lead a person farther and farther from home. William Faulkner, Gordon Lightfoot and Anne Heche both have this placement.

“Turning back the pages of my sweet and shattered dream, I wonder if she’ll ever do the same; And the thing that I call living is just being satisfied with knowing I’ve got no one left to blame.” — Gordon Lightfoot

Pada

Moon in Uttara Phalguni (Leo) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Pushkara navamsha. They are favoured by women (even if they are a woman themselves) and they tend to radiate heat so those who have a cooler constitution like to be close to them. They are obedient, devoted to work, proud, happy, handsome, learned and the most important person in their group, clan, family. They are usually big people who often serve as the power behind the success of others and they are able to project their power through them. They don’t necessarily want power for themselves; they are happy to be a reflection of the power and patronage of others. By this method there are no constraints to creativity and originality. They can be charismatic leaders, popular, entitled to shine, to express themselves. They are, however, said to be a danger to their fathers; perhaps because of being so closely identified with the father who is a domination figure. The solar energy is strong for any planet in this 1st pada.

Moon in Uttara Phalguni (Virgo) Pada 2, Capricorn Navamsha: They live more simply and seek to be of service to the lower classes. and other disadvantaged groups. They can be fickle; unkind, stubborn and only interested in grabbing other’s money and  self praise. In truth they often despise others. They do, however, bring a penetrating insight to any situation. They can be very systematic in their approach to problems.

Moon in Uttara Phalguni (Virgo) Pada 3, Aquarius Navamsha: populist. They are full of pride, short-tempered, jealous, sad, and cause problems for others. They are destroyers of property. They have a way of using their connections to make money rather than committing to a particular job. They can be very good at trade and commerce. They might have special insight into the mysteries of like and be able to exploit peoples fears.

Moon in Uttara Phalguni (Virgo) Pada 4, Pisces Navamsha: Pushkara navamsha. They are witty, religious, liked by others, learned in shastras, support their relatives, and are in the service of those more powerful; government, corporations.

Mars in Uttara Phalguni

As aggressive, competitive, critical leaders they may be offered patronage for what they have done in order to avoid aggression. Like when a food critic walks into a restaurant; they get the best service, the nicest table, the freshest garnish all just so they won’t complain. They often rule by threat of force; though it might only be implied, rather than explicitly stated. The Leo side is likely to project a dangerous power through military, security forces, aggression. The Virgo side is more likely to use those same cutting and fiery Martian qualities to cure the source of the illness, disease, and social imbalance. They might even use these as a source of power; a field of action. They are typically very courageous and are willing to fight and take action to find a new balance. They can be good at mathematics and science or merely have a sharp critical intelligence.

Suleiman the Magnificent had his tomb as well as many other royal buildings decorated with Iznik tiles which were exceptionally high quality with a lovely design using cobalt blue. These are the same tiles that were later used for the Blue Mosque.

Claud Monet – Blue Cathedral

Claud Monet Mars in Leo – Uttara Phalguni: He was not only near sighted, but he had extreme cataracts clouding his vision that distorted the colours of the world from his perspective. He was diagnosis in 1912, during his Mars-Saturn period. The quality of his painting deteriorated until 1923 when he had surgery to remove the cataracts (during his Rahu-Saturn-Mars period) The Ketu conjunction from Magha nakshatra working along with his Mars in Uttara Phalguni no doubt brought on the cloudiness of cataracts. As a Gemini ascendant Mars is not necessarily a good planet for him, so he gets a negative result from the aggressive ultraviolet light that is often seen as the cause of cataracts.

Monet’s Mars Mahadasha went from July 1909 – July 1916. Following a 1909 exhibition of 48 paintings featuring his pond, Monet could barely summon the energy to paint. Struggling with his wife’s illness and death, he entered a period of depression that would last through the death of his first-born son. It was almost five years before he picked up the brush again.

“The only true measure of success is the ratio between what we might have done and what we might have been on the one hand, and the thing we have made and the things we have made of ourselves on the other. “H. G. Wells

“The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good. “ Samuel Johnson

“No thinking—that comes later. You must write your first draft with your heart. You rewrite with your head. The first key to writing is… to write, not to think!” — Sean Connery (was given knighthood)

Saint Francis of Assisi with a Blue Cross.

Canticle of the Sun

“Most high, most powerful, good Lord,

Praise, glory, honor and blessing are yours.

To you alone do they belong, most High,

And there is none fit to mention you.

Praise be to you, my Lord, with all your creatures,

Especially to my reverent Brother Sun,

who lights up the day, and gives us your brightness;

Beautiful is he and radiant with splendor great;

singing of your significance.

Praised be my Lord, for Sister Moon and for the stars,

In heaven you have formed them clear and precious and fair.

Praised be my Lord for Brother Wind

And for the air and clouds and every kind of weather

by which you give your creatures nourishment.

Praised be my Lord for Sister Water,

helpful and humble and precious and pure.

Praised be my Lord for Brother Fire,

By which you light up the dark.

Fair is he and joyful and mighty and strong.

Praised be my Lord for our sister, Mother Earth,

which sustains and keeps us

And brings forth diverse fruits with grass and flowers bright.

Praised be my Lord for those who forgive others for your sake

and bear weakness and tribulation.

Blessed are those who shall in peace endure,

for you, most High, will crown them.

Praised be my Lord for our sister, Death,

from which no living thing can flee.

Woe to them who die apart from you;

Blessed are those who find themselves in your most holy will,

For the second death shall harm them not.

Praise and bless my Lord, and give him thanks,

And be subject to him with great humility.”

(By St. Francis of Assisi. Translated by Paschal Robinson)

“The truth is that the State is a conspiracy designed not only to exploit, but above all to corrupt its citizens … Henceforth, I shall never serve any government anywhere.” — Leo Tolstoy

“Any single man must judge for himself whether circumstances warrant obedience or resistance to the commands of the civil magistrate; we are all qualified, entitled, and morally obliged to evaluate the conduct of our rulers. This political judgment, moreover, is not simply or primarily a right, but like self-preservation, a duty to God. As such it is a judgment that men cannot part with according to the God of Nature. It is the first and foremost of our inalienable rights without which we can preserve no other.” — John Locke

Student Patronage: They are often patrons of education and empowerment programs for youth. Shaun Connery donated his entire salary from one bond film to the Scottish International Educational Trust, which he co-founded. Saint Francis founded the Franchescan order (Saint Dominique, who was a contemporary, started the Dominican order) There are also hundreds if not thousands of Schools named after him today. He also receives patronage from the Pope in order to rebuild the church. Alan Pinkerton co-founder the Pinkerton School for the Blind. He also began work on a databank to centralize all data on crime in the USA. Satguru gives lavishly to youth projects without needing to list them. The great literary giant Tolstoy founded numerous schools for emancipated serfs. Rajiv Gandhi also has an education foundation and offers several scholarships. John Locke is one of the pioneers of what we consider good schooling.

Many of them seem to have had some difficulties in primary education and preferred to self-educate. Writing about crime, poverty, and exploitation is common. Most of these people have a soft spot for the exploited classes and seek to remedy this by investing in the youth.

Eye problems: Ray Charles, Pinkerton school for the blind. The term “private eye” also came from them. Assisi went blind,

H.G. Wells wrote and then later revised a short story about the “Country of the Blind.” And a quick internet search describes his vision as dystopic. Which raises an interesting point about this placement. Many of them are visionaries of sorts, looking forward to a brighter future. Surveillance, private eyes, and perhaps that great eye in the pyramid is represented here

Many of them have dedicated their lives of fighting crime and defeating enemies like the Pinkertons and some of the military generals who have Mars in Uttara Phalguni. Others fought against illness, disease, poverty, In a few cases, they might be the ones to weaponized these things to destroy the competition in the way debt enslaves the poor. and weaponized by Mars

Students seek favours and patronage. My act to empower the youth, empowerment through education and words.

Tall, stately, priests, professors, advisors and father figures and patrons. Their beliefs seem to be mostly conservative or libertarian; they believe in individual freedom, liberty sovereignty. On one hand they don’t like the state interfering with people’s lives, while on the other hand, they tend to prefer a coherent state religion or ideology. They might want to use faith or ideology to uplift the oppressed. Their beliefs may become controversial.

King Francis I and Emperor Suleiman the Magnificent shaded a unique truce between each other that was based on mutual patronage and trade.

King Frances I has Sun & Jupiter conjunct in Uttara Phalguni with Rahu & Mercury conjoining from Hasta & Chitra. He was known as a prodigious patron of the arts, sciences and scholars of all kinds. . He had a controversial military and trade pact with the Ottoman emperor, Suleiman the Magnificent. He supported catholic priests to go to the new world to teach and spread the faith. When Portugal and Castille signed a treaty dividing the new world between them, King Fances is reported to have said “The sun shines for me as it does for others. I would very much like to see the clause of Adam’s will by which I should be denied my share of the world.”

“Stay loyal, remain free, and always value honour.” Tucker Carlson quoting Hells Angels President Sonny Barger.

Tall, stately, priests, professors, advisors and father figures and patrons. Their beliefs seem to be mostly conservative or libertarian; they believe in individual freedom, liberty and sovereignty. On one hand they don’t like the state interfering with people’s lives, while on the other hand, they tend to prefer a coherent state religion or ideology. They have a very broad minded inclusive intelligence and believe in the power of the individual spirit, and the unique potential of every person. They might want to use faith or ideology to uplift the oppressed. Their beliefs may become controversial. And their use of ideology and morality in an aggressive way which risks making them immoral in the end (especially when Jupiter goes debilitated in navamsha.

Jupiter in Leo: They can have a great love for children, being very open and permissive with them. They have a great respect for law, and politics and will either donate of be beneficiary of political donations. They tend to have a lot of political charm, divine confidence, compassion, moral authority and may be self-righteous. They might show patronage through education, children or spirituality. This can be a good placement for children and women with this placement might land a husband who is into politics, education or is somehow a celebrated personality. Saturn influence by conjunction or aspect can bring disrepute and difficulties in childbirth. If aspected by Mars they can become cruel and aggressive despite performing noble deeds, being generally truthful and honest, and showing devotion to their elders. They will be very efficient and highly productive.

Jupiter in Virgo: This is a practical placement, but the true breadth of Jupiters expansive all inclusiveness gets boiled down to a logical argument; spiritual practice comes down to a patronage relationship. They typically follow the belief that is practical for achieving their goals. A religious functionary going through the motions that are expected of them.

There can be a lot of argument and blame law & policy, litigation. They believe in human development through service and they tend to take a broad minded liberal approach to solving problems or serving the disenfranchised. They can be ideological thinking the right belief is the answer to everything. They might have many servants or people working under them. They take it on as their duty to teach and preach to people; but their world view can be narrow, decisive, critical, sceptical, argumentative, perhaps focused on war, addiction, illness. Consider Tucker Carlsons expansive arguments night after night. Or Rod Fords expansive addictions which eventually killed him. They are capable of false hope or false piety.

They do well in technical fields, health care, social service, military, journalism, media and marketing. They can be good at fixing things: diagnosing the problem and outlining the tactics to solve the problem. But the problems never end, there is always more to do.

He supported catholic priests to go to the new world to teach and spread the faith. When Portugal and Castile signed a treaty dividing the new world between them, King Frances is reported to have said “The Sun shines for me as it does for others. Venus in Uttara Phalguni

They are excellent hosts and can be the life of the party, especially on the Leo side. They Men will like to have a wife who can host and serve guests. They are into art, light, beauty, film and photography. They love to bringing people together, mixing styles, mixing drinks, match-making; weddings a specialty for these natives; taking care of all the details. They can be very good clerks and service personnel.

There can be great imbalance in relationship, but they can work if each person sticks to the agreement; to their side of the bargain. This might be the office romance: the boss gets laid, and Betsy gets a raise. They both get what they want. Men might have escorts join them for parties just to have a woman on their arm. Since this is a Sun nakshatra marriage partnerships tend to be fairly independent, but Aryaman loves a vow, to love, to serve, to beautify, to balance or at least mask imbalance. The partners will always have a smile on their faces when they are in company. They will rarely be single, but true love and marriage is often delayed and there might be more than one.

They have good knowledge of arts, entertainment & hospitality are usually good party hosts, and partiers; the usually love the whole celebrity scene, fun in the Sun, beach walks, hanging out by the pool. They will probably like fancy fruity drinks. They will have good taste, love original art and do much to support the arts scene, patronage involving women.

They can commit to a relationship very quickly, so if there are afflictions or poor placement of this Venus they might find their heart broken many times in their younger years. It’s said that marriage is often delayed until their early 30s, at which point Aryaman blesses the marriage vow. These people love and admire independence, freedom, sovereignty; but they are appreciate the practical aspects of having a partner, even if it’s not all Sunshine. They can be very critical and nit-picky with their spouse; but they love being married or in a relationship and they can commit very fast.  They are usually ethical, committed to the details of marriage, relationship, terms of agreement. They can be fair and flexible in relationships since they value independence. They may have difficulty in relationships because they are so focused on the little details that they miss the bigger picture of what is going on. Or the marriage itself may be just a detail or duty that must be attended. Women with this placement might commit too quickly and be surprised when their partner isn’t also arranging the marriage on the second date. Men might meet women who blind-side them like this.

Men can get a wife with the qualities of Uttara Phalguni: gracious, charismatic, courageous, generous, a source of powe Their woman in their life are likely to be very independent. Natives with this placement can be very expressive in love, that are theatrical in balancing relationships, making premisses and trust. They will be able to easily disarm others with their charm. An interest in the arts is likely to be there, working with light, and ultra violet light. Nice style, unique, exclusive, likely to stand out.

They can be adventurous, dramatic and creative. They can have a special touch with photography and film. A good eye for photography, film, and colour. Gabriel Lippmann was actually the first person to take a colour photograph based on a phenomena called “interference.” Bryan Adams got into photography, Roman Polanski film maker, Shubhra D., Duane G., Luca L. are all into photography and film. And of course there are some questions about Neil Armstrong; he may have been more of the film-maker actor than and astronaut.

Venus in Virgo: Relationships tend to be unbalanced but providing some practical purpose. Females in ones life

Saturn in Uttara Phalguni

Sauron, the main protagonist of Lord of the Rings.

“All that is gold does not glitter,

Not all those who wander are lost;

The old that is strong does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

The crownless again shall be king.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don’t we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we’re partisans of liberty, then it’s our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!” J.R.R. Tolkien???

At this point I notice that many of the Uttara Phalguni placements relate with some kind of fantasy story. In the case of Saturn we find truth emerging from darkness after (or through) a long struggle. Their creative endeavours usually take a meticulous plan and much time to carry out; a labour of love. If Saturn is the 7th lord then a long term, difficult, commitment to marriage might be in the cards, but all kinds of committed relationships vows can push a person to their limits. They often learn the hard way that reneging on a promis or breaking a vow has heavy consequences. They will eventually lead by example, highlighting discipline, structure and accountability in expressing ones individuality.

They can be very arrogant about making a deal, especially on the Leo side. They seek their own benefit but it bites them. They might even fear the negotiation process finding it a burden and fearing that others are trying to take advantage of them. They can be very harsh: take it or leave it. On the Leo Side these natives are more focused on the hard work it takes to express ones creative light. They often bring structure, administration, labour or service to creative expressions. They can sometimes seems like a stick in the mud. They are often the people working behind the scenes to allow others get out what they have inside. They have to work long and hard, but eventually their commitment will pay off.

Saturn does very well on the Virgo side of Uttara Phalguni for economists, administrators and others who are responsible for the details. They might not be able to really help people beyond the survival necessities. They might have some magic in helping people cope with time and delay. Saturn does better in the 2nd or 3rd pada, where he goes into his own house in the Navamsha. They want a fair and legal means of settling disputes and typically work in the service sector completing tasks for important people. They may be controlled or restricted by their patrons and will likely be controlling of those who are supported by them one day. Servants will also be really good business people who want to serve in a long-term position. They are very detail orientated; details are always correct unless some other affliction is present. It’s said that they are happy to sleep on a hard bed and a strong durable bed will bring durability to Saturn’s house rulerships in your individual chart. For example, if Saturn rules the 7th house they should have a strong bed for a durable marriage.

When Saturn is on the Virgo side of Uttara Phalguni their practical analytical approach gets highlighted. As usual, Saturn will show them the consequences of of not being logical in the approach early so that latter this becomes a specialty. Saturn in Virgo is always service related, and Uttara Phalguni is no exception. They are often charged with finding fulfilment in their work since they receive so little external validation. They are the humble servant in the spotlight.

Saturn in Uttara Phalgini can suggest various health complaints. Digestion can be weak, especially on the Virgo side. Bone problems are also likely with this placement. A consistent yoga practice can reduce the symptoms of various osteoporosis problems or arthritis. Dry skin. Stress, anxiety, hyper-tension can all be influenced by this transit so stress reduction techniques like meditation and pranayama should be practiced. They have to guard against self-criticism, self-doubt and a pessimistic attitude.

Rahu in Uttara Phalguni

Excellent analytical skills, logic, deal making, argumentation, rhetoric, governance, politics, art of the deal, and diplomacy. They are fascinated by celebrity entertainments and tend to have an oversized ego: they are always the centre of the universe.

B.F. Skinner: “Behavior is shaped and maintained by its consequences.” “Do not intervene between a person and the consequences of their behavior.” However, “A person who has been punished is not simply less inclined to behave a certain way, at best, they learn how to avoid punishment.”  —

Rembrandt had a unique why of using blue pigments in his paintings.

Rembrandt: After completing his apprenticeship in painting he returned to his parents house. I began taking on students, but he would only take on students who already had some skills and could begin selling their work immediately. They were essentially trained to copy his works and styles which were popular at the time. He earned both from the hefty tuition he charged as well as earning from the sales of the students’ works. In many cases his students were more like artist assistants rather than students. In short you could say that he is cheating his students.

Martha Stewart was indicted for conspiracy, obstruction of justice and securities fraud over the sale of some personal stock. Norman Mailer was incorrigible in every respect: he drank too much, got into fights, once stabbed his wife, was banned from a community centre for drunkenly singing dirty songs, and crusaded against “women’s liberation.”

DH Lawrence: He was fascinated by the dehumanising effects of modernity and industrialisation. He was heavily censored by those wishing to police the human condition and make the natural function of the body crimes against god. His writing was considered pornographic in his time; but there was little in there to excite my adolescent mind when I started reading his work in high school. With this position of Rahu they are likely to stir a lot of controversy, suffer much misrepresentation. He grew up the son of a coal miner in central England. He knew the horrors of working class life and sought to leave it behind, but it underlied the setting of most of his literature.

He completed his major Rahu Mahadahsa by the time he was 22 years old. Around the age of 17 he went to work for a surgical appliance manufacturer. But due to pneumonia he left the position and returned home. In Jupiter – Rahu Dasha about 14 years later he suffered a case of influenza that almost killed him. He was also heavily persecuted and censured for his anti-war stance and was even accused of being a spy in this period. He was at the limits of poverty and unable to publish any of his writing, so he left his home country in 1919 to begin what he called his “savage pilgrimage” (this was the beginning of the Mahadasha of his Saturn in Ardra 9th house). He travelled a good part of Europe and eventually went to America. Along the way he visited intellectuals and communities that shared his passion for the freedom of the human spirit.

In his letters to Bertrand Russell around the year 1915, Lawrence voiced his opposition to enfranchising the working class and his hostility to the burgeoning labour movements, and disparaged the French Revolution, referring to “Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity” as the “three-fanged serpent”. Rather than a republic, Lawrence called for an absolute dictator and equivalent dictatrix to lord over the lower people. In truth, however, he was just a contrary man who contradicted himself and didn’t seem to have given politics and true thought. Some feminists have called his novels “master works of misogyny.” Even the obituaries after his death were “unsympathetic or hostile.”

Ketu in Uttara Phalguni

They abandon the system of patronage, they might go numb from it. It means nothing to them anymore, They just don’t play the political games that are expected of them, they might abandon their own children while diligently caring for others. They might be attracted to care for the most alien culture or people they know. They might try to bring together a fission of cultures, but somehow it doesn’t stick, it’s too out there.

On the Virgo side there are a lot of military officers, foreign diplomates, and politicians have this Ketu. Numb to the imbalances, wars, fighting, This deep ambivalence can be comforting, it might seem like a deep faith that what will be will be; the the master controlling his mind and remaining calm in the most contentious on situations. And I’m sure they can be very good fighters, but there are also anti-war personalities with Ketu in Uttar Phalguni. They can be quite stoic around the sickness, war, litigation. They will rarely take this things personally.

Some might criticise Osho for bring so focused on his foreign audience that he could not see the social work that could be done in his own back yard. Much of his money which could have been used for good has been thrown away by Rahu; just wasted in Pisces and perhaps even used for nefarious purposes in Uttara Bhadrapada. It’s was likely this Rahu who set his unsuccessful search for asylum in motion due to Rahu’s desire to escape rather than face or try to fix his problems. He neglected his patronage duties and received no favours in return. On the other hand, it was very much due to the foreign, new-age students that he was able to rise to such a high position as his Ketu is well-placed in his main chart, Moon chart and Navamsha. From Indian perspective patronage might come from Buddhist or Muslims, outcastes, aliens.
