Place: Horse Stable

Guna: Tamasic

Element: Air

Dosha: Vata

Sex/Gender: Male

Downward Facing

Brahma / Creative energy: A creative energy that brings something new to take root.

Kama: They are motivated to fulfil their hopes & desires; to enjoy life and love, making friends and social connections, and to indulge in the pleasures of life. Planets that have some natural social talent will do well here while the others will show their awkwardness for easy enjoyment. Moon, Venus, and Jupiter will be different versions of Social Butterly.

Rakshasa: The clan of the Rakshasa are here to enjoy life. Their guru is shukracharya (Venus) teaches balance, harmony, equality, value, appreciation and enjoyment in life. They are less concerned with doing what’s right than with doing what feels good.

Butcher: The butcher is an outcaste caste, or a caste within a caste. Even the nice orthodox brahmin boy who becomes a doctor falls into this butcher caste. Working with the body, getting blood on their hands, killing things or working with dead things, cutting, destruction jobs. Ketu, the ruler of this nakshatra is known asa the annihilator.

Tikshna / Daruna – Sharp / Hard: As astrologers it’s our duty to sensationalise the dreadfulness of this nakshatra so we say it’s good for maiming, killing, aggression, torture, cruelty, killing, punishment, tearing things apart, getting stabbed in the back, performing illegal activities, acts of war, genocide, elimination campaigns, ferocious acts and bitter, cold-blooded manipulation. Yogis can turn this energy on their own bad habits, false egos, misguided beliefs and imperfections. Black magic comes from this energy; lack of concern for consequences can make Mula natives especially dangerous; This hard energy can come between their relationships bringing especially difficult heart breaks, abandonment of family and children. Chemotherapy is brutal destructive but life saving, but initiating a difficult divorce can be equally beneficial. Mula natives are hard and sharp, tough as nails, they’ve seen, experienced and done it all; nothing surprises them. Ardra, Ashlesha, Jyeshta, Moola are all hard people with potentially sharp tongues. They find themselves in tight places where they have to make really difficult choices involving life or death. Mars and Saturn combining energy in one of these nakshatras can be very dangerous in transit as well as in someones native chart.

Tamasic: Activities take part on the gross physical plane: dark, depressed, dull, inert activities that obscure reality and keep us in the dark. Some kind of gross suffering is usually felt here and there’s a lazy sort of laissez-faire sort of laziness of lethargy. The energy here typically pulls a person down as it represents neither change or purity. There is typically some suffering and darkness of mind experienced here. Tamasic has no nutrients and the prana is not moving; it’s stale or dead. Tamasic energy is the most gross, dense, unsubtle energy like a clod of inorganic earth. But from a spiritual perspective Shiva passed through all the Shaktis to get to Bhoo Devi; the goddess of the earth element. It took union with all the shanties and chakras to make this miracle of life, of existence, of this experience of time and space.

Air: Changeable, subtle, cold, pervasive, movable, & clear. It cooperates with fire, and is impeded by earth. Air and water don’t cooperate with each other, but they are not active enemies.

Vata: Vata is a combination of Air & Ether. It’s cold, dry, light, moving, subtle, clear, hard, pervasive, and rough. Natives can be flighty, spiritual, thin. Vata is disturbed by bitter (Mars), astringent (Saturn), pungent (Sun) & pacified by sweet (Jupiter) & sour (Venus).

Active: Planets here will actively pursue their interests. Active planets like Mars and Sun will have their activity enhanced. If afflicted here it can make a person very aggressive and angry.  More passive planets will struggle in an active field a little bit like. The Moon here can make an active mind, but we need active and alert minds to nourish and protect the weak. Saturn will be like putting an old man jogging; he can still do well, but may follow the “slow-and-stead-wins-the-race” mantra

Neuter: Neither (or both) male nor (and) female, active nor (and) passive. They can shape shift, appear as either, both or neither. Marriage between two neuter nakshatra natives is said to be very auspicious, but there will be trouble if they are with either male of female nakshatra natives, though they can play which ever role is assigned to them by their partner. We can also consider this in relation to planets in the nakshatra which suggest that Saturn, Mercury (and perhaps Rahu & Ketu might do well here).

Adho Mukha – Downward Facing: Relates with research, containment, underground activity, digging wells or mines, drilling for oil, digging up the garden or other trenching activities. It may also relate with shame, pessimism or low self worth that causes you to keep your eyes cast downward. Bharani, Krittika, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, Vishakha, Mula, Purva Ashadha, and Purva Bhadra. Planets like Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu share this nature.

North: North is the direction of death and dissolution, the direction of the cold barren wastelands. These natives are likely to find some kind of fortune related to Mula in the north country or the north side of town.

Horse Stables: If you’ve ever looked down the hall of a busy horse stable you will see a bunch of disembodied horse heads reminding us of Rahu & Ketu. Ketu being the spiritual side of life that we cannot see and Dhanus. Like icebergs poking out of the water; we only see a tiny fraction of the reality ‘that Mulas experience.

Sage Palasthya

He lived alone in a small hut in the top of the Himalayas and spent his days watching everything and everyone in the lands below him. He lived as simply and peacefully as could be. But ever day these little girls would come up and play and make noise while he was making meditation. When he realised it was just little girls, he decided to curse the forest and warn the locals that any little girl who came to his mountain would get pregnant. The threat and the curse worked until one day a hermits daughter, knowing nothing about anything, came frolicking through the forest singing with delightful abandon. But ignorance is no excuse and she found herself knocked up by this strange curse. When she explained it to her father, he took her back to the forest, found the sage and demanded that he marry her. The sage was happy to do so and they soon had three children together: one son named Vishrava, and two very famous children named Kubera & Ravana. Ravana gained great knowledge and became king of the Rakshasas. Agastya, Kinnaras and all the Rakshasa are said to be his descendants.

Sage Palasthya went on to author the Vishnu Purana detailing the fundamental concepts of jyotisha and mythology. Brahma told him the stories first and he passed them down to Sage Parashara. He taught the Mangalya sthavam prayer to favour the completion of any jobs in proper fashion and without hindrance. He also taught the proper way of doing Vedic ritual: Take bath, do sandhya vandanam, sprinkle water over the homa articles and the house, do achamana and start the Vedic rituals.

Note: sandhya vandanam is a small ritual done at Sunrise, noon and Sunset. The Sunrise time for this is from 48 minutes before Sunrise to 24 minutes after Sunrise. The noon sandhya is from 24 minutes before the Sun peaks to 24 minutes after. Sunset Sandhya starts 24 minutes before Sunset until 48 minutes after. Achamana are the purification rituals, nyasas and various preparatory rituals that will be different for different gods and lineages.

Male Dog (pairs with female dog of Ardra)

The female goes into heat 1 – 3 times per year beginning when she is about 6 months old (though this varies considerably by breed). In the proestrus stage, estrogen floods her body, her vulva swells and she releases a bloody vaginal discharge. She becomes increasingly restless, she plays “bow and show” submissive behaviour toward males. As ovulation approaches, urination will increase along with licking the vulva; males will become even more attracted to her. She will stand to be sniffed by them but will crouch and growl if they try to mount her. As she moves to the estrus stage, courtship and mate selection will begin. It’s believed that she will be involved in some kind of selective process, but if there are no other males around she will take any that are offered to her. She typically selects a male from her pack or one she has known. However, during her first heat she will not let other pups from her litter sniff, lick or mount her unless he persists for more than 30 minutes. She won’t let unfamiliar males mount her. Typically a dominant female will mate with a dominant male, and the submissive ones will mate amongst themselves.

Pre-mating behaviours include seeking out males, barking & howling, restlessness and wandering off. By the time oestrus begins she will have as many as eight males following her. Less time will be spent eating as she will be busy sniffing the male urine. If the males don’t seem interested she will eventually begin to rub up against them and eventually lift her tail and present her vulva to him, which typically gets their attention. While the male mounts, she will stand quietly with her tail to the side. Once the sperm is deposited she will try to get away from “the tie” by pulling or throwing the male off balance, twisting and turning and even rolling over (possibly due to clitoral stimulation). Excessive salivation is also common. If “the tie” doesn’t work she can get very sexually aggressive with the male. She may want to mate once or twice a day for 2 – 5 days. Since she can have multiple litters each year she is often either pregnant or caring for pups.

Relationship Compatibility: Most compatible with Revati, Moola, Purva Ashadha. Least comparable with Punarvasu.

Saal – Black Drammer – Frankincense – Radish

Scientific names are Boswellia serrata or Olibanum Indicum; in Hindi it’s called Salai and in Sanskrit it’s Guggula. The resin is commonly used for incense in religious ceremonies. This is consistent for all the major religions including Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists.

It’s considered analgesic & anti-inflammatory and is used medicinally for treatments of cholesterol, thyroid problems, painful menstruation, obesity, to reduce the pain of joints, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bronchial asthma, and colitis, relief in cancer, cure infected wounds, digestive problems and bronchial complaints, colitis and haemorrhoids.

Chemical contents: Boswellic acid, aliphatic tetrols, pentacyclic triterpene acids,  phenylpropanoids, Beta-boswellic acid, lignans, and terpenes

Pippali or Piper longum L. from the Piperaceae (Pepper) family

Pippali is without a doubt the most celebrated and widely used pungent remedy in Ayurveda, used as a simple home remedy in the treatment of disorders such as fevers, headache, dyspepsia, coryza and bronchitis, and also as an important ingredient in rasāyana dravya.

Pippalī is febrifuge, aphrodisiac, unctuous, hot, pungent and bitter. It stimulates the digestion and is indicated for disease due to vata and/or kapha dosa. It cures asthma, cough and tuberculosis. Treatment of worms, mucous discharges, intoxication and deranged vata.

Special Considerations

  • Mula is a Ganda-Moola nakshatra It sits on a junction point of fire and water. It’s inauspicious. One’s own health might suffer, there can be loss of or disability to a family member. A special ceremony is recommended every month when the Moon transits one’s natal Moon in these nakshatra. The first two pada can be hard on father and mother respectively. A person born in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter of Moola Nakshatra becomes the destroyer (cause of death) of his/her father-in-law.
  • Jupiter is mooltrikona for the first 10ºs of Sagittarius.
  • Brihat Samhita says that when Saturn transits Mula, the people of Kasi, Kosala and Pancala, fruits, herbs and warriors come to grief.
  • Avani Mulaa (Earth Festival): Celebrated for 18 day in late August – early September. Mostly celebrated in Tamil culture with the main festival centred around the Madurai Meenakshi Temple. Indra got in a huff about the King of Madurai and caused the river to dry up and created a drought. When a storm came and the flash flood treated to pass through, the king ordered every citizen to help construct a dam to retain the water. But one small part of the dam didn’t get finished because the old lady assigned to it was too busy cooking and caring for the other labourers. The god Sundara, who was one of the labourers the old lady was feeding, saved the day by plugging the gap with a handful of earth. Lord Sundara has a statue in Madurai: he’s holding a golden basket and a golden spade. Seen more about “Avani” symbolism section.

Planing the Transit: Auspicious Activities
Muhurtha – Electional Astrology

A sharp asterism belonging to the butcher caste. Favourable for punishment, torture, imprisonment, exorcism, mesmerism and separation or union when containing the Moon.  Helps in besieging cities, taking towns, driving men from their places, destruction of seamen and captives. It’s a good placement for making parks and planting gardens, starting a war, breaking treaties and agreements, digging wells, tanks, or ponds, any kind of agricultural work.

With Moon transiting Mula, purchase cattle or hunt, but do not marry. Do not make loans when Moon in in moola, you will not be paid back or some other problems will be created.

According to the Natyashastra 2.42-43, the ceremony of “laying the foundation of the theatre should be performed during the auspicious muhurta of a good tithi under the asterism Mula.” Again, according to the Natyashastra 3.14-15, “the master of the dramatic art should perform rangapuja after offering puja to the Indra’s staff.”“After proceeding thus according to rules and staying in the playhouse for the night, he should begin puja as soon as it is morning. This pūjā connected with the stage should take place under the asterism Ardra, Magha, Yamya, Parvaphalguni, Purvasadha, Purvabhadrapada, Ashlesa or Mula”

Exposition

Sometimes these nakshatra’s relating with Rahu and Ketu can be hard to see, it can be easier to look at them in comparison to other nakshatras. Really, if we think about it, Rahu and Ketu, do not have independent existence. They only exist in relation to the sun, the moon and the earth. They often say that Moola is related with research, but I find very few researchers with Moola placements. If we look across from Mula we find Mrigasirsha and Punarvasu. These nakshatra’s relate with research, seeking, and punarvasu is very goal directed. Neither are very rooted: Mrigrasirsha is a bit wandery whereas Punarvasu usually has someplace to be. The research that takes place in Gemini is fairly superficial, just a gathering of facts and information. Mula is the point of the research; it’s the idea or ideology, the bigger picture that gives meaning to the details. This is why mula natives are known to be so ruthless, because they are too focused on the bigger picture; “what’s a few lives when all of humanity is at stake.”

Mula is the deeper meaning that we don’t see right away. It’s that theory or hypothesis that researchers are often working with, it’s the observation both for the research to progress and the observations that can be made from the research. Like handing in a superficial research paper the the professor say: “so what’s the point?”

The point isn’t always readily visible with Mula natives. Mula reminds us that all of this philosophy of Sagittarius is completely unfounded, ungrounded: it’s all theories, beliefs, ideas, ideals, dogma and ideology. Thus we get the ghosts, Mula and Abhijit, in Sagittarius. We have to remember that Sagittarius is the 6th sign from Cancer which represents the foundation and the ground. Of course this put Cancer and Mula in a 6/8 relationships which makes them enemies while at the same time they share similar meanings or rootedness or groundedeness.

Mula is misty and mystical. This is the leap into the abyss, the leap of faith. There’s a quality of symbolic language to Mula which is what makes them as good at mathematics as it does at witchcraft. There is something a priori about many of the Ketu nakshatras, like grammar, formless, without the words of Gemini, or gravity with without the actual physical bodies. Like Rahu and Ketu themselves, Ketu nakshatras are just mathematical calculations, they have no physical body, but they are as real as anything in the same way as mathematics.

Mula natives often act in a theoretical realm where consequences don’t matter, it’s when they try to bring these theories to reality that they run into trouble. Applying universal concepts to particular situations just doesn’t work. It’s the difference between, “the world should be like this,” and “the world is like this.” They can be somewhat divorced from the realities of the world.

We find many people with what we call progressive beliefs. Mula natives are anomalies, like Ketu, they don’t fit into a box, and they may be butchers but they can mingle with any caste.

Some of the people I expected to have Mula placements, like a Japanese Potato king, George Shima, don’t even have a month of birth recorded. It makes me wonder about all these rural farm boys I’ve met in India who barely even know what year they are born. Instead, they tell me independence day, or Hanuman or Ganesha’s birthday but it’s immediately clear that the chart doesn’t belong to them. You could say they were born in a knowledge vacuum.

Mula is so often called a star of research, but this isn’t quite correct, its a star of observation which is the crucial step in scientific research, and it also deals with theoretical knowledge which is also used in research. Mula also acts against the odds and does not give up which can be an excellent attitude for researchers. They might be involved with microscopic or macrocosmic. They work in theoretical realms like mathematics, physics, biology, the hard sciences. They can be involved in medical fields, political science, economics, law, especially constitutional law, or human rights. Many activists have Mula placements. Anyone trying to eradicate anything is likely to have moola placements. There can be something a little impractical about Moola as well: this is the realm of theory rather than practice so we get all the spiritualists with their head in the clouds here. Mystics, shamans and healers to be sure, but even orthodox religion is just a theory we happen to have faith in.

We get insidious politics through mula as they seek to root out wrong thinking, eliminate ideas that go against their agenda. We find these kind of people in every level of politics, military, police, academia, religion. Their aims and ideals are often just like a religion but they are not. Have I mentioned the activists, in modern times we see many progressive activists with moola placements: modern feminists, communists, fascists and the kind of people willing to advance and agenda regardless of the consequences.

Doctors, dentists, morticians are all educated butchers who no longer believe in the sanctity of the body. Since Mula is in the stinger of the scorpion where the poison in stored they could be involved with administering poisons, shots and vaccines. They might be involved with herbalism, Pharma, selling roots or seeds. Quite a number of these folks are wrestlers, body builders and fighters.

Biologically is seems mula relates with fungus, yeast, moulds, mushrooms, enzymes, bacteria. I suspect many of the symbiotic relationships relate with mula somehow: just like the bacteria that grows on roots under the ground an helps to transform nutrients into a usable form for the tree. We have a similar bacteria in our gut helping us to digest food. These are foreign or alien substances to the body but we tend to get along fine. However, not all symbiotic relationships are mutually beneficial and I suspect Mula rules over all such  relationships (see symbiotic and parasitic relati below).

Empathy: to understand and feel what another person I feeling, it see things from their point of view. This helps us connect to the other person very easily. By loosening the bonds of the ego, from ones own individuality, one can then very easily merge with another. But without those bond the merger will not last as a new merging is usually right around the corner. If empathy is on one side of the spectrum, the other side becomes a kind of psychopathy, borderline personality disorders which can express excessive emotions while lacking the ability to reflect on their feelings (impaired cognitive empathy). “One diagnostic criterion of narcissistic personality disorder is a lack of empathy and an unwillingness or inability to recognise or identify with the feelings and needs of others.” (Wiki) “Characteristics of schizoid personality disorder include emotional coldness, detachment, and impaired affect corresponding with an inability to be empathetic and sensitive towards others.” (Wiki)

The root, the source, the origin. Will strip away everything to get at the source. Neti-neti. They like to take things apart to see how they work.

Boundary issues, reckless self deception, nihilism, disappointment with human limitations. Takes on too much too fast. Take big risks while underestimating the risk potential. The people represented by the planet in Mula may lack boundaries.

Radish, black pepper, sneezing, orgasm?, piquant, engaging stimulating and provocative, pungent, rousing, zest, zing, sterilization, purity. Pushing out from the core, centrtiphxical force

The root, the vacuum, magnetic repulsion, expansion without intention, no consequences, no boundaries, witness of the annihilation powers of nature, reckless impulse, awareness of impermanence, sudden implosion

There are many things about Mula that don’t add up: The most glaring is that the stars of this asterism make up the Scorpions stinger, but it’s located in Sagittarius. It’s often considered the lowest point of any thing, the pivot point, the fulcrum, that which play a central or essential roll in the activity, event or situation. This reminds us that Mula nakshatra still has some relation to the churning of the ocean of milk. The pivot point would have been on the back of the tortuous; the Vishnu avatar Kurma.

Mount Mandara was up rooted to churn the ocean. Hannuman also up rooted a mountain to get a healing herb for Lakshman

We get an interesting leap for Jyeshta, the eldest, to Mula the origin. There is a maturity reached in Jyeshta that gets wiped clean in mula; in a way mula disperses all the energy till here. There is a purity to Ketu nakshatras, they act without any attachments that the rest of the zodiac experiences. This is how Magha is able to inspire magic while Mula brings awe. Everything might focus on that one pivotal moment.

Snake oil salesmen, smooth operator. They tend to have lofty ideals but fall far from the mark themselves. They often let themselves and others down. The trouble comes from individual choice, but they are acting out a universal theme that seems fated. The point is that they don’t follow practical morals, but grander universals. Chaos is the natural way of the universe.

Tends to abandon these specific commitments: commitment to marriage, commitment to children, commitment to priesthood, Father and Guru, commitment to religious practice, commitment to education, commitments to teaching and preaching roles, commitment to wisdom-learning especially via temple culture and study of sacred scriptures. Things not associated with Sagittarius or Jupiter usually are not harmed.

The tend to jump into quick initiation until pointless despair settles in and then the go again, until they find another spiritual path or person they can attach themselves to. They follow religious practices that have little meaning, they just go through the motions. It may be political or religious dogma that goads them on long after the initial conviction has faded away

They will push the body to the limits. They don’t accept human limitations, but prove them over and over again. Emotionally disattached. Everything feel arbitrary, pointless.

Cruel and reckless disregard for consequences. They tend to feel betrayed even though they are themselves the betrayer. Women are particularly prone to extra-marital affairs but will blame it on their partner somehow. They tend to over estimate the abilities of the body, or the marriage, of a single human being to do jobs that take many.

Complete annihilation. Self attacking. One tends to finds a partner to goad one on until provoking a severe emotional reaction…. Betrayal

Especially for women, taking partner tend to be optional. It suggested that the mother may have seriously contemplated abortion, and then abandons the child in other ways. Mother is disinterested, (It’s also said that they are against abortion themselves.

Mula is the lowest denominator, the bottom of it all, of course it’s a never ending abyss and when times are going bad we can keep falling forever, but most of us hit rock bottom eventually. As low as we are willing to go before we take some serious action to get the momentum moving the other way. This Mula is actually what they mean when they say “No lives matter until black trans lives matter.” What they mean is that it says a lot about a person in how they treat the lowest of the low, the creatures you can beat like a stray male dog and nobody will care. These are the Mula people. This is the fate of refugees, illegal aliens, homeless, runaways, drug addicts, those who have been dehumanised or or described as cockroaches.

Farming, gardening, pulling things up by their root, rooting out troublemakers, the root cellar,

Women with Moon here night be a little bit witchy, celebrating eclipses, mixing potions or tinctures, growing herbs, gardening.

.This can also be a renunciate position. This essentially means that we can choose to embrace the chaos of Mula or we can fight it and suffer.

Littlest hobo

The Moola native looks into scientific, literary, philosophic and other basic subjects. Mortgage and Mortgaged property are governed by this star and its horizon is not rural but urban.

Cruel with a reckless disregard for consequences.

Gods & Symbols of Mula

Niritti – Alakshmi – Calamity.

There seems to be a connection to Jyeshta through the devi power. Jyeshta is said to the be ruled by Alakshmi while Mula is ruled by Niritti who is often associated with Alakshmi and they are both associated with Kali to a certain degree. While Jyeshta is the heart of the scorpion, Mula is the stinger.

because they are both considered tot he the eldest.  a She who goes against order and transgresses the law.

  • She was the daughter of Adharma (against dharma) & Himsa (violence); and Mother of Mrityu (death) & Bhaya (fear). When violence is conducted against dharma calamity will follow; and from the calamity will come fear and death.
  • Related to Kali: the devourer.
Pandora

When pandora first appears in western literature she is not even given a name. She arises from Zeus’ anger after Prometheus gave fire to the humans. He had Hephaestus (the blacksmith of the gods) create a “beautiful evil” whose descendants will torment the human race. She is made from the earth, wears a silvery gown, an embroidered veil, garlands and an ornate crown of silver. “For from her is the race of women and female kind: of her is the deadly race and tribe of women who live amongst mortal men to their great trouble, no helpmeets in hateful poverty, but only in wealth.” (Hesiod) Even the gods were seized by wonder when they saw her. She was “sheer guile, not to be withstood by men.” Hesiod was, however, the first to put forward the idea that although we cannot live with such evil women, we cannot live without women either, since, as he says, we would then have to face old age alone without anyone to help us. If we broaden his perspective we could say that relationships in general are like pandora’s box. Wherever there is heat, fire, passion, inflammation, fever, cooking fires, or funeral pyres there is Pandora’s box. (This could, however, be a lesson more suitable to Rahu and Ketu relationships in general).

Her character quickly developed in the literature of antiquity and she has continued to be a popular character ever since that time. They spoke of her “shameless mind and deceitful nature,” “her “lies and crafty words.” Her name Pandora means “all-gift” because all the gods added some small part to the plague of men who eat bread. And she carried with her a jar full of these evils so that when she came to earth she let them loose and scattered them to the winds. But this is where her story becomes a little less clear. If we look back before Hesiod wrote about her we find a slightly different story.

Pre-Hesoid Pandora was the wife of Prometheus. She was a great nurturer with a jar full of hope, optimism and abundance. She possessed all the gifts and brought them up from under the ground. She was, in many ways, a mother earth agricultural figure who gave humans everything necessary for life. Of course there is much debate about what this shift from good wife to bad wife means culturally. Since she is considered the first woman in the world, she is often compared to Eve.

This confusion serves the purpose of Moola nakshatra well. Moola often have both of these sides wrapped up in themselves at the same time. They can be incredibly selfless in some aspects of their life will remaining incredibly wicked in other ways. They can bring growth or destruction often on the same day.

Urania

Goddess of the heavens, the stars, astronomy, astrology, and navigation and is depicted holding globe and compass in one hand and a short staff in the other showing her to be the Goddess of the axis upon which the earth sits. The stars and the heavens. She is kind, soft-spoken and much beloved by everyone, she is said to have the gift of prophecy. She later became the muse of Christian poetry.

Her father Zeus courted her mother, Mnemosyne (memory, memnonic) for nine nights by which 9 muses were born. Urania was the muse for mathematics, charting the stars and a course thereby. Her sisters were muses of history, erotic poetry, music, tragedy, sacred poetry, dance, festivity and comedy, and heroic poetry. This suggests that even a “hard science” like mathematics is directed by more than just reason.

Mula is sometimes said to represent the stars, mathematics and she is certainly one of the most ancient goddesses. There is also this strong universal aspect to Mula. Often times the destruction caused by Mula is for some higher universal purpose; it’s nothing personal. It’s for this reason they seem to step on so many toes. It’s for this reason they can sow a lot of destruction in their live and not look back.

Hecate (or Hekate):

“She who works with her will,” or, “the far reaching one.” She holds in her hands a pair of torches and a key and is shown with snakes on her shoulders and dogs by her side. She is associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, night, light, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery. She seems to have been worshipped differently in different areas. She is also shown as a kind of maternal fertility goddess, perhaps representing the womb of the universe much in the way that Kali does: the unknown aspects, the surrender, and the ultimate liberation and chaos of the time of birth. Hecate is also shown with a lion in some areas, giving her an even stronger connection to Durga – Kali. One of her most popular forms is as three bodies, each with their back to a central pole. This relates to Mula as a pole star, which relates it to the central axis of the chakra; the agent around which the shaktis, the powers of that agent flow.

Tripura Sundari

(also known as Rajarajeshwari, Shodashi, SahasranamaSoundarya Lahari, Kamakshi, and Lalita)

Much venerated in Shakti cults as the Supreme Goddess. She is the foremost of the Mahavidyas and the primary goddess of Sri Vidya; the ultimate Shakti of the universe; the supreme consciousness ruling above BrahmaVishnu, and Shiva. On one hand she is said to be sitting on Shiva’s lap in the form of kāmeśvara, the ‘Lord of Desire’. On the other hand she is depicted as growing, self-emergent, from the Sri Chakra. She is the beauty of the 3 worlds symbolised by upside down triangle. She is said to have been born from a yajna conducted by Devas during which they sacrificed the whole universe to feed the fire. From the fire arose Tripura Sundari, the form of Brahman, the form of the universe. She the split herself in two, Kameshwara & Kameshwari, to recreate the universe. She empowers the five functions of Shiva, the panch-brahma: she empower Brahma for creation, Vishnu for sustaining, Rudra for dissolution, and Isvara & Sadasiva for grace and concealment. Which full power of every aspect of the universe she is said to have formed her army to destroy Bhandasura, the demon who had been persecuting the gods.

The Sri Chakra through which she is depicted is made up of nine interlocking triangles radiating out of a point, the bindu. From this the beauty of the three worlds emerges: Bhu, Bhuva, and Swaha; earth, sky and heavens. Four triangles pointing up representing the male aspects of creation and five pointing down for the female aspects representing the union of masculine and feminine. The nine levels that make up Sri Chakra represents the totality of non-dual reality. It represents all the knowledge of Kashmiri Shaiva philosophy and is used as a yantra of devotion by Shri Vidya devotees. Main textual sources for Shri Devi are: Lalita Sahasranama & The Soundarya Lahari of Adi Shankaracharya.

The nine levels of Shri Chakra are

          1. Trailokya Mohana or Bhupara, a square of three lines with four portals
          2. Sarva Aasa Paripuraka, a sixteen-petal lotus
          3. Sarva Sankshobahana, an eight-petal lotus
          4. Sarva Saubhagyadayaka, composed of fourteen small triangles
          5. Sara Arthasadhaka, composed of ten small triangles
          6. Sarva Rakshakara, composed of ten small triangles
          7. Sarva Rogahara, composed of eight small triangles
          8. Sarva Siddhiprada, composed of 1 small triangle
          9. Sarva Anandamaya, composed of a point or bindu

“She rules over three cities, three paths children of the universe. a, ka, and tha, fully present. She is present in these letters. She is ageless, birth less, the greatest and she is the glory of all gods.”

Swami Narasimhananda, Tripura Upanishad Verse 01

“Long ago, at the time of creation, Tripura the Universal Consciousness was all alone. There was nothing other than Her. She, the embodiment of Power, who is Self independent wanted to create; the desire developed. From desire, knowledge was born and then action. From Her three glances the three gods were born. Pashupati represented desire, Hari knowledge and Brahma action. They were looked at by Sankari and became naturally powerful and Truth abiding.”

Shri Tripura Rahasya (Mahatmya Khanda), Chapter 10, Verses 18 to 22

“Those who are deluded by my maya, don’t know me completely. I alone, worshipped by all, give the desired fruit. Other than me, there is none who is to be worshipped or who grants the fruits.”

Shri Tripura Rahasya (Jñāna Khanda), Chapter 20, Verses 40 to 41

Shree Chakra & the Metaphysical Cosmos

This is as good oaf a place as any to take an expansive look a the universe as a combination of body, mind & soul. As we come to Mula nakshatra we have just crosses the mind and are discovering the soul and the connection between the macro-cosmos & the micro-cosmos.

Key Themes

a tied bunch of roots

Roots typically go unseen, beneath the ground drawing water and nutrients from the soil using osmosis. Ketu is also suggestive of having a permeable membrane. And just as Ketu suggests aliens, most roots develop a symbiotic relationship with some fungus or bacteria that helps the roots convert nutrients from the soil into a usable form.

They classify roots in a couple different ways. Of course there are common aerating, below ground roots, but there are also aerial, above ground roots that absorb moisture from the air. They also distinguish between big fat taproots, like carrots and radishes, as distinct from diffuse roots that spread out all over the place like so many grass roots. The first root to grow from a plant is called a ‘radicle.’ It’s from this initial embryonic root that a tree can continue to grow even after it’s been chopped down. We should also distinguish between the radicle and the plumule: the radicle is the embryonic root that grows downward and the plumule is the embryonic shoot that grows upward from the fresh root.

Root vegetables are very high in minerals and nutrients, because they store all these good things for later; especially the big fat taproot that we eat. They are typically very high in carbohydrates and starches as well.

To plant roots, to be rooted is to be based form some place or firmly established over time. The root is the source, the origin and one can harbour deeply rooted feelings of love or hate; but there is also a sense that when something is deeply rooted that it’s not going anywhere soon; it’s here to stay. We can also root for our favourite sports team and usually have a long history as a supporter. For many people such affiliations are also a strong part of who they are. It’s where we come from.

To pull something out by it’s roots eliminates it completely and forever. We find many mula natives seeking to eradicate sometime, to eliminate so pest or something they see as a pest, less than human, alien. From the human perspective mula can be genocidal like Hitler, or even those actors who played Hitler, and thus recreated the genocidal actions in art, theatre, or film like Anthony Hopkins. But we are just as likely to see gardeners dealing with weeds, or people dealign with inse4cts or rodents. In some ways it’s things we eliminate for the sake of humanity or some greater good. From a spiritual perspective it could be be some yogi or a baba seeking to eliminate his bad habits by uprooting it and replacing it with a healthier habit. In many ways they are seekers of purity, freedom or liberation: these things are all Ketu’s responsibility. Padora’s box will get into this more. The important thing to consider about Mula is that it’s a tied bunch of roots, they are not in the ground; the roots have been harvested.

We should also note that the 4th house also represents roots, and Mula is in a 6/8 house relationship with the 4th house which makes it an enemy of those 4th house roots: a weed; and we all know what we do to weeds: anything to get rid of the weeds. I once spent three years trying to eliminate quack grass from a garden area. Quack grass is all interconnected through the roots system; the roots go everywhere. To get rid o0f it in a natural way you have to pull up all the roots from an area, if you miss even the tinies hair of a root, it will come up again the next year. This is the grass that destroys concrete sidewalks in North America. If it finds just one small crack to will come up and slowly, year after year, open that crack up and start breaking down the cement. At the end of civilisation this will be the first stuff to start taking over and tearing down everything we’ve built.

What are your roots? Clearing the land to plant roots. Farming, gardening and agriculture. Food, herbalism, medicine, drugs, alchemy. This relates.

Rooted, not leaving the centre, firmly fixed, unmoving, anchored,

Symbiosis

There are 5 different types of symbiotic relationships: mutualism (mutual benefit), commensalism (one organism attaches itself to a host for its own benefit but the host is neither helped nor harmed), predations (one gets benefit while the other is harmed, this can be a typical predator relationship), parasitism (similar to the predator but the life is slowly sucked out of the host,  and competition.

Swastika & Black Sun

A symbol of auspiciousness and good luck. A map or marker of the self. It said to represent the north pole and the rotational movement around a central axis (an immutable axis). It’s a symbol of life, the vivifying role of the supreme principle, the absolute god. Some consider it similar to the yin-yang symbol. Others say it represents the four wind gods at the head of their respective paths, or a revolving sun, infinity, and continuation of creation. The Buddhist considered it a representations off the foot prints of Buddha; the path of Buddha, the samsaric cyclical path of life. Represent the ecliptic north pole.

In India this is a common symbol on doorways, business, temple entrances. They will attach it to the starting page of financial documents, it’s used in weddings and at times of child birth for auspiciousness. It’s thought to represent the sun, karmic activities, motion, the wheel or even thought of as a symbol of the lotus. The Jain’s also incorporate this symbol in holy texts, temple architecture, ceremonial functions of making a swaqsika from rice in front of the alter. The four arms of the swastika are thought to represent the four places where the soul can be reborn: heaven, hell, as human, or as plant or animal. The Chinese and Japanese used it as a symbol for longevity; the Christians of the middle ages also incorporated the swastica into their temple architecture and may have been used along with funeral rites. Some also take it to be a symbol of Thor in Norse paganism. Some relate it with the thunderbolt to connect it with all the thunderous gods like Indra and Zeus. The slavs consider it to new a symbol of the “little sun” and it was connected with eternal life and Christs victory over death. This symbol has been used on coins, embroiled in cloth, stamped on temple walls, used as a heraldic symbol in the coat of arms,

– The right facing symbol is the original swastika symbolising the Sun, prosperity. Relates with Ganesha.

– The left facing swastika is actually called sauwastika symbolising the night and the tantric aspects of Kali. Most commonly known as the symbol of Nazi Germany. It comes as no surprise that Hitler had Ketu and Jupiter in Mula.

In modern times the the swastika generally, but more specifically, the left facing swastika is associated with Nazism, white supremacy, the aryan race, racism, racism, the Axis powers, the holocaust. It’s still used as the core symbol for neo-nazi organisations. The symbol is still banned in Germany today. It’s odd how the more we do to stamp out this symbol and this ideology the more it seems to have grown to such a point that some suspect WW III is starting because of the support for Ukrainian neo-nazis, who are really just hapless fools to the military industrial complex and American imperialists. These neo-nazis have basically had their hate used against them in order to get Ukraine to do the dirty work of imperial powers. They are the modern barbarians caught between two civilisations; the outcasts of the border region between Europe and Russia. This is very much in keeping with the energy of Mula. The poor village boys believe they are acting out of a kind of blind rage and blind ideals. Meanwhile the western autocrats are looking at the bigger picture completely disassociated from he details or the consequences of their activities; the main thing they are doing is goading others on. All in keeping with the principles of detached universal forces of destruction. It’s never personal from Ketu nakshatra’s perspective.

Mula dhara – Mula Bhanda – ghandanta

Root Chakra, root lock, root knot; the base, the perineum, earthy, excretion. What we take in from above comes out from the bottom in the end. From sky, air, fire, water and earth something is produced. This could be the waste products or the children that come out of us from the base. When all five elements come together then something is fully born into this world. It can be a simple conversion of matter like from food to poo, or even all these things we build and watch crumble. Just conversions of matter for the most part. Children are a kind of true originality in regards to creating and we all have a kind of authenticity that we try to follow in life (at least if the Sun is strong). This is also one of the first muscles we engage when we pick up something heavy, the root lock helps us increase abdominal pressure lending support tot he back. Now that I think about it, I have often contributed the solar plexus to Leo, so perhaps Udyana Banda belongs with Magha (Mula is a place that deals with theories so why not). I suspect the three Ghandanta points, psychic knots: The knot of Brahma at muladara, the knot of Vishnu’s knot is near heart chakra & near the 3rd eye is the knot of Rudra.

Mula is also the point along the lunar mansions and human development where we learn to dissolve our individuality. This is how we get past the gate keeper, Ganehsa, Ketu, Kal Bhairava. Part of the understanding we get in Mula is that it’s actually the moment of birth that we stepped onto the cremation ground, it’s when our dead body reaches the cremation ground that we get our liberation and merge with universal energy; final moksha. Everything we know about this world gets flipped upside down and we become agents of universal energy. The possibilities are so endless with Mula nakshatra that these people can be hard to predict, even they don’t know. Of course it depends on the conditions of all the planet placed here as well as Jupiter and Ketu whether they will focus this energy to spiritual purpose to seek everlasting life, or to material life dancing upon ones own grave.

Mula is where we start to see the bigger picture and our attachment to the particulars starts to fade and we move towards the universals. We stop taking life personally and acknowledge ourselves as a part of universal energy: on one hand we are less than a speck of dust in time and space; while on the other hand we are the universe ourselves. Surrender to the universal forces is the only answer; though even that is not actually much of an answer.

There are somewhat different ways of approaching the Chakras, but Ketu is considered to rule over the two poles of the Kundalini, these are the absolutes that do not actually exist. Rahu rules over the pole itself while the planets each find expression through the chakras. Muladara itself has a lot to do with the unseen forces of creation, the microcosmic world or atoms, enzymes, bacteria, fungus. I will write more about this below, but Mula reminds us that we have a symbiotic relationship with the earth. This relationship is actually the foundation to everything but it’s goes unseen

“[…] or it is enough if Śiva alone is worshipped. The root (mūla) is the most important. When the root is watered, O gods, the branches are well-cared for. O excellent sages, if the branches are taken care of, it does not necessarily mean that the root is cared for. When the deities are propitiated, the same analogy holds good”. (Shiva Purana)

sacred to the worship of Pirs.*

1b) The hereditary force.*

refers to “abutment (of a stone)

In some Indic languages mula mean radish.

Devichakra, the first chakra describes in Kubjikamata Tantra

Avani – Earth

Avani refers to earth in the same way the English word does: it refers to the the soil and the earth as a planet. It is also used to refer to the river bed or to pour down or over pour the banks. “The Self is by nature deathless and without any beginning, endowed with bliss and infinite power, and luminous and pure. The powerful flames of sinful Karma heat it, like mercury, after lodging it in the body. Under the intoxicating power of Karma, even a man of superior merit goes reeling down to unhappy births. So let the wise, who know the cardinal difference between the body and the Self, strive for the bliss that is free from rebirth.” — Yaśastilaka Campū verse 2.215-216

Avani is the name of nan important Siddha Centre Tamil Nadu. The Siddha cult is a Tantric  cult connected with theHeterodox Natha tradition that combined Shaivism (viz., Pashupata), Shaktism, Jainism, Tantric Buddhism (Vajrayana), etc. A Siddha in this context is an inspired seer belonging to the marginalized or outcaste sections of society “who dissolved their past karma and crushed the roots of future karma.”

Dhanus – Dhyana

Dhanus is a bow. Dhyana is meditation, the 7th step of Ashtanga Yoga.

“The root word “dhyai”, means “to think,” “to contemplate”. Dhyana means thinking of God with concentration. God is invisible and figureless. We can meditate only upon some material that contains the attributes of God. So dhyāna is to fix the mind on the object of meditation, and to imagine that particular object in a particular place and to concentrate the mind upon it. One who casts off his body, while engaged in meditation attains ‘Sāyujya’ (oneness with God).” — wisdomlib.com Krishna claimed that dhyana was the dharma of yoga  that kills unrighteousness. According to Viṣṇupurāṇa. (VI.7.86), dharaṇa is stability of the citta In God, dhyāna is continuity of that cognition without any desire for other things (ibid. VI.7.91) and samādhi is a stage in Yogic practise in which God’s own nature is grasped without any imagined appendage

Zero-sum thinking & Zero-sum game:

One persons win is another loss. One person taking a bigger share of cake will leave others without any cake. Same in poker and gambling games where someone’s win is another loss. This is true of all competitive games. Zero sum thinking assumes that in an antagonistic world one persons gain is another loss; one’s own success comes only by the failure of others; mutual gain is not possible. This easily leads to zero-sum fallacies for Mula natives. Some such fallacies are students thinking they are being marked on a curve when they are actually the testing is standardised. Political decisions are often considered zero-sum though they might not be. In romantic relationships it’s often assumed that showing love for one person will reduce the love one has for another. In copyright infringement it’s assumed that every unauthorised copy is a loss of sale. This might be an evolutionary trait related to competition for resources; or it may be a learned trait from early developmental period. Poverty thinking and competition for resources is a may be taught or it may be a natural survival instinct.

Prisoners dilemma: This form of zero-sum game shows that 2 rational people may not co-operate even if it’s in both their best interest to do so. The possible outcomes are: 1.) If A and B each betray the other, each of them serves 5 years in prison. 2.) If A betrays B but B remains silent, A will be set free and B will serve 10 years in prison. 3.) If A remains silent but B betrays A, A will serve 10 years in prison and B will be set free. 4.) If A and B both remain silent, both of them will serve 2 years in prison (on the lesser charge). Although it’s in both of their best interests to keep quite, it’s in each persons in Teresa to rat their friend out. This is the kind of dilemma and deception that Mula natives tend to run in to: betrayal becomes the best option even if it does ruin everything,

Fundamental Rights

Human rights are fundamental. This is where the individual meet with the rest of humanity and understands that we all want these basic rights up-held. I live to boil it all down to: don’t tell me what to do! And stay off my lawn! It’s not that these rights actually exist, they are mans law, the foundation to humanism:  1. Right to self-determination, 2. Right to liberty, 3. Right to due process of law, 4. Right to freedom of movement, 5. Right to privacy, 6. Right to freedom of thought, 7. Right to freedom of religion, 8. Right to freedom of expression, 9. Right to peaceful assembly, 10. Right to freedom of association

The Milky Way

The centre of the milky way is said to lie at about 6 degrees sagittarius. With is the second pada of Mula. When we zoom out and look at the whole universe we find the a swirling dust cloud of the milky way looking like a flat spiral disk with a slight bulge in the middle. On the dark nights when we can clearly see the stars of scorpions tail we will see a kind fo stellar cloudiness that is said to be the milky way. Mula represents that mid-point. This bulge is sometimes depicted as a tortoise shell, but also as mount Meru, or perhaps mula is where these two meet; at the pivot point. Some call it the “Black Sun.”  All the planets including the sun orbit around this cosmic centre. This is the womb of the great goddess. The four elephants that are said to support the earth actually represent the four cardinal directions of the milky way galaxy.

Mula is universal energy that is often beyond ones own control. Otherwise one may themselves be an agent for that universal energy allowing them to ignore the consequences of their actions.

Elephant Goad

One of the 8 Ashta-mangala, auspicious objects, in Hinduism and has special connection with Ganesha and Tripura Sundari.

Buddhism “Throughout Buddhist literature, the training in shamatha is often likened to training a wild elephant, and the two primary instruments for this are the tether of mindfulness and the goad of introspection.” It been further suggested that in order to direct our consciousness to move inward we must be goaded.

There is a hatha yoga posture classically called the Elephant goad pose, but also goes by various names relating to Bhairava, the form of Shiva that destroys the universe. Durvasana is the standing form of the poster. I’m not exactly sure how this relates, but the Ketu ownership of this nakshatra can connect equally to Bhairava and Kali. The universal, theoretical energy of destruction and the actual form of destruction. Despite all the destructive elements of Mula, it too is ultimately a creative energy; just like Kali ma. I often describe Ketu energy as a vacuum, a palate cleaner that comes before Venus dasha so that we can actually enjoy and appreciate the flavours of life again. As we will see from Tripura Sundari below, she is born only after the whole universe is dissolved in the fire.

Ganesha also holds and elephant goad. He uses his intelligence to cut through false identifications, fear, doubt, anxiety, attachment and all the other negative qualities that hinder our spiritual growth and evolution as an individual soul. Incidentally these are all the same qualities that pandora’s box released to the world. The elephant goad also pushes up in the right direction in a similar way Urania inspires universal consciousness. The elephant goad is only used when the elephant isn’t listening. This is the same universol energy that tells us over and over again that we are making the same mistakes we made before. Those negative feeling and unwanted results that arise from our actions are the universal way to goad us into controlling our mind to attain self realisation.

Rudyard Kipling introduces a beautiful jewel encrusted elephant goad in his famous Jungle Book. The people of the jungle take it from the castle but they have no sense of the value so they just casually discard it in the jungle. But when it’s found by some thieves hiding in the jungle who recognise the value of it, they end up destroying themselves in their fight to possess it. This is very much how the destructive tendencies of Mula arise, from ignorance or ambivalence.

Tail of a Lion
Black Holes

Health: Feet & Left side of truck

Spleen

The spleen is located on the left side of the body just below the ribcage and acts primarily as a blood filter. It’s a soft, spongy organ that filters and destroys old and damaged lord cells, it produces white blood cells to protect against disease, and it stops red blood cells and platelets which help the blood to clot to keep you from bleeding to death.

The spleen is mostly only an issue in accidents of severe bleeding which is often when it’s removed to stop the bleeding. It can at times become enlarged due to liver disease, various infections like mononucleosis or malaria, metabolic disorders like Gaucher disease or Niemann-Pick disease, some blood cancers, or auto-immune conditions like lupus or sarcoidosis. Even moderate alcohol consumption coupled with dehydration can cause the spleen to enlarge. There are not usually any symptoms from an enlarged spleen, though it can reduce the number of healthy blood cells making infection more common, anemia, or increased bleeding due to reduced clotting ability. The only way a doctor is able to feel the speed is when it’s enlarged. The spleen is also damaged relatively easy and can rupture in severe accidents causing internal bleeding which can be life threatening.

Pancreas

The pancreas looks a little like the tail of a lion: long and thin with a tuft at the end. It’s categorised as a gland and has equal importance for the digestive system as it does for the endocrine system. It functions as both an endocrine gland and an exocrine gland. As an endocrine gland it helps regulate blood sugar levels by secreting insulin, glucagon, somatostatin and pancreatic polypeptides. As an exocrine gland is releases digestive juices directly into the duodenum to help break down food.

Pancreatitis, inflammation of the pancreas, is usually caused by gall-stones and heavy alcohol uses high fat and too rich of a diet.

Gout: Inflammatory illness that affects the joints. It usually comes on at night causing sever pain usually beginning with the big toe. The affected joint becomes swollen, red, warm and extremely painful; this can begin to affect movement in the affected joint as well. The pain and inflammation my linger for a few weeks and then go away.

It’s caused when urate crystals accumulate in the joint. Uric acid isa natural waste product of the body, but it’s also present in may foods: meat, seafood, fructose sweetener and beer. Several illnesses also increase the likelihood of developing gout (diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome and diseases of the heart or kidneys. Some common pharmaceutical tablets also increase the likelihood of developing gout. Gout is more common with men, but post-menopausal women see increased likelihood. Uric acid normally dissolves int he blood and gets filtered out by the kidneys, but occasionally a person takes in too much uric acid or the kidneys are not doing their function. It’s this same uric acid that builds up in the kidneys to cause kidney stones.

  • Mars in Moola seems to be a common placement for diabetics.
  • The anus, muladhara, prostate, haemorrhoids.
  • Mula might connect with the microbial bacteria in and on the body with which we have a symbiotic relationship (gut bacteria). There is evidence that desturbances in microbial bacteria in the body are associated with a range of pathologies: inflammatory bowel disease; autoimmunity and allergic disorders; cardiovascular disorders; neurologic diseases, including autism spectrum disorders, Alzheimer disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and depression; and cancers. Babies receive their initial dose of microbes from mothers during passage through the birth canal and other body surface.
  • Osmosis in the bodies way of absorbing nutrients from food in both the small and large intestines after the food has been broken down to the molecular level. This actually has a lot to do with the bodies symbiotic relationship with the bacteria of the gut.
  • Causes of Gout and Diabetic Neuropathy (As suffered by Benjamin Franklin). Type 1 or type 2 diabetes
  • Vitamin deficiencies in the diet. Exposure to toxins and heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, pesticides, or from hard drug use.
  • It seems reasonable that the Sun or Moon in Mula cold give cataracts and perhaps some relation with 2nd lord or 2nd house.
  • Anterior Cingulate Cortex: lies in the middle of the brain and is shaped like the tail of a scorpion. It is involved in certain higher-level functions, such as attention allocation, reward anticipation, decision-making, ethics and morality impulse control (e.g. performance monitoring and error detection), and emotion. studies attribute specific functions such as error detection, anticipation of tasks, attention, motivation, and modulation of emotional responses to the ACC. Its roles also appear to extend to the autonomic nervous system, regulating blood pressure and heart rate in response to behavioural stressors.

Stars of Mula

A circle of nine stars forms the scorpions stinger: 1. epsilon-Scorpii, 2. mu-Scorpii, 3. zeta-Scorpii (Grafias), 4. eta-Scorpii, 5. theta-Scorpii, 6. iota-Scorpii, 7. kappa-Scorpii, 8. upsilon-Scorpii (Lesath = Al Las’ah = the Stinger), 9. lambda-Scorpii (Shaula).

Lesath may be the most significant of these, but it’s also near Ophiuchus which marks the galactic centre. The Chinese considered Lesath & Shaula as two parts of a lock and these two stars are often thought to form a pair. The Vedic system calls them the “Two Releasers” as they were thought to bring an end to lingering disease.

In the 17th century Arabic scholars believed that the moon here “helps in besieging cities, taking towns, driving men from their places, destruction of seamen and captives.” It was a good time to buy cattle or go hunting, but not a good time to marry. Classical Hindu texts state that Mula is a “sharp asterism belonging to the butcher caste and favorable for punishment, torture, imprisonment, exorcism, mesmerism and separation or union when containing the Moon. Those born on the lunar day will be druggists, dealers in flowers and fruit, rich and fond of gardening. With Moon here at birth native will be conceited, wealthy, luxurious, kind-hearted, happy and resolute. Rules stables and the left side of the body.” The Chinese believed that the moon passing here is a good time to plant, sow, travel or go to war.

About Scorpio generally, Ptolemy had this to say: “The bright stars in the front of the body of Scorpio have an effect similar to that produced by the influence of Mars, and partly to that produced by Saturn: the three in the body itself . . . are similar to Mars and moderately to Jupiter: those in the joints of the tail are like Saturn and partly like Venus: those in the sting, like Mercury and Mars.”

Lesath, the Cat’s Eye, meaning poisonous sting, or “a foggy patch” is said to be “of the nature of Mercury and Mars. It gives danger, desperation, immorality and malevolence, and is connected with acid poisons.” “Lesath in conjunction with Mars, Uranus or Saturn, MC or Ascendant could point to danger from wild animals, either to be ripped up by them, massacred, or torn into pieces. this star points to accidents, catastrophes, or operations and those with placements here will be exaggerative, argumentative, unreliable, unscrupulous, given to invective, mechanical ability, very quick mind, great talker. Corresponding to the sign Scorpio, this could work with appendicitis, appendectomy, or removing of hemorrhoids by operation.”

a probing, sharp intellect and incisive wit, every bit as damaging as a knife to its opponent.  People with star strong in their charts are noted for doing well in debate, business, sport, and high office in general. If not well aspected, though, they can be inclined to strike first and ask afterwards, with an embarrassing loss of face.

These stars are usually found low on the horizon from the northern hemisphere. There is a bit of stellar cloudiness in the area due to being near the galactic belt. They are located at the near the stinger of the Scorpion. All cultures held this point to be inauspicious, bringing accident, calamity, war, bloodshed… This is said to the centre of the galactic universe.

Scorpions stinger: It actually works a lot like a hypodermic needle storing and injecting venom. They usually try to crush their prey with their pincers and only sting if they have to. The sting usually paralysed the prey which is then covered in digestive juices to break it down before eating it. The sting itself usually paralyses the prey before death comes.

The venom has been studied for insecticides and for treatment of certain disease.

“Weak logic, inconsistencies and alienation from the people are common features of authoritarianism. The relentless attempts of totalitarian regimes to prevent free thought and new ideas and the persistent assertion of their own rightness bring on them an intellectual stasis which they project on to the nation at large. Intimidation and propaganda work in a duet of oppression, while the people, lapped in fear and distrust, learn to dissemble and to keep silent.”Aung San Suu Kyi

Bepin Behari General indications: “You have a good physical appearance. You will have beautiful limbs and bright eyes. You will be the most attractive person in your family. You possess a very sweet nature and are a peace loving person. You have set principles in your life. You can stand against any adverse tidal wave, you have the capacity to penetrate that wave and reach the destination. You are not bothered about tomorrow nor are you very serious about your own matters. You keep all the happenings in the hands of God and become prey to optimism. You need to be very cautious of recording your finances or you will find yourself in debt. You may give advice that you may not even use. This peculiar characteristic generally fits you for the profession of financial advisor or religious advice. Since you are skilled in several fields there will be frequent changes of profession or trade; stability in this direction seems to be a very rare phenomenon which may put you in constant need of money. Watch the tendency to spend too much on your friends. You will possess the utmost sincerity in all you do. You may earn your livelihood in a foreign place, where it is indicated that you will have much more success in business. You are capable of shining in all walks of life, particularly in the field of fine arts, as a writer and in the social work. Excepting a few cases, it is seen that Mula born cannot have any benefit from parents whereas they are self-made. Your married life will be satisfactory. You will have a spouse with all adequate qualities. Even when you are sick you will look well. You may not in the habit of taking care of your own health. With the result, some severe health problems can be noticed in your 27th, 31st, 44th, 48th, 56th and 60th age. You must try not to have any association with intoxication as you may suffer from the grips of addiction. When the Mula nakshatra rises, great relief is felt in lingering diseases. In the first three padas he will be a self-made man who is very independent and ambitious. In the middle part of his life, will be highly respected. Due to his own efforts and ability, he will be very well known in business circles. Will never remain in a subordinate position very long. At the age of thirty-five or thirty-six, he will have an accident either in connection with machinery or by fire, and may have broken bones. At the age of six or seven, will receive a sear or burn.” — Behari

Astrology King: Ptolemy “danger from wild animals, either to be ripped up by them, massacred, or torn into pieces; accidents, catastrophes, or operations: appendicitis, appendectomy, or removal of haemorrhoids by operation.”

Barbara Lama Mula Ascendant: “may be entrancingly rhythmic conferring a musical quality to the speech, chant, poetry, sermons. Can lead a peasants chant for agricultural work, a liturgical chant for priestly worship, or an entrancing ritual chant for magical purpose. If Mula-4 ends ups in Ashlesha navamsha the rhythmic snakelike trance is deepened.”

Shil-Ponde Male with Mula Ascendant: “… a shrewd and capable character – an organiser, who is able to handle people and make them serve his needs through tact and diplomacy. A politician. An orator who is capable of swaying his audiences yet who is not sincere but may even be unfaithful to his constituents and ungrateful and unappreciative of favours received if the occasion arises. The type of person who, while one is still in his presence, holds one spellbound; but who when he leaves, also leaves a lurking distrust behind him. Extremely clever and capable.”

Shil-Ponde Female with Mula Ascendant: “… very little happiness through the life due to the secret and destructive thoughts of the native and her proud and stubborn nature. To understand this is a help, but a determined effort must be made to rectify it. The fault lies entirely within herself, her nature preventing her from being happy in any relationship. She will have many love affairs and trouble through them. If she marries, she will be unhappy because of her inability to compromise and her husband will die in seven years from the time of the marriage. She has a weak constitution and her health will be uncertain, due again to the destructive thoughts which she harbours continually.”

Phala Deepika Sagittarius Ascendant: The native “will have a long neck and face with large nose and ears. He will always keep himself in some work or the other. He will be self-sacrificing and eloquent in speech. He will be short of stature. He will be courageous and will overcome his enemies. He will be wealthy and the favourite of the king, He can be won over by persuasion and kindness.”

Parashara Sagittarius Ascendant: “[They] have a well-proportioned and well-developed body. Generally tall with a large forehead, high and bushy eyebrows, long nose, bright eyes, graceful look, fair complexion and handsome figure. They are bold, courageous and forceful. They face adverse situations with fortitude. They have self-confidence, energy, enthusiasm, vigour and vitality. Despite all these qualities they are unable to take quick decision. They are God-fearing and love only truth. They stick to their principles. They go for higher education and are fond of traveling. They are intuitive and their intuition generally proves correct.”

Commentary: Although these natives tend to have a cheerful and optimistic personality, their personal narrative tends to be darker and more destructive. Their communication can come of as dull, boring, and dominated by rigid beliefs. There is a sense of ideological power vacuum with this placement. Complete destruction, elimination, and annihilation is often the first step in renewal or rebuilding. They will often move between stated of blind faith, surrender and abandonment. It’s interesting to see USA and Putin sharing the same ascendant. Putin is currently conducting a “denazification” of Ukraine. USA started out with the elimination of the Buffalo and the genocide of Native Americans; as a nation, they have never considered the consequences of their actions which have been devastating both in terms of human life and the natural eco-system.

Nixon Address: We find a great disregard for consequences in this historical address untied the American dollar from the gold standard. At the time he made this speech one ounce of gold could be purchases for about $35 it now cost around $1800. Many people look to these gold prices to understand how much the American dollar has actually devalued since that time.

Richard Gatling: The inventor of the Gatling gun, the first machine gun that was widely used in the americas to perpetuate genocide against the native Americans.

Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar – Burma waged an equally brutal campaign to eliminate dissident against her American back regime; she was eventually ousted by the military.

Pada

Ascendant in Mula Pada 4, Cancer Navamsha: They are defenders of the faith to a certain regard, protectors of the old culture and old ways. The protective nature of this makes them well suited as military officer in the navy. It’s good for tactics and psychological warfare. They have a way of poisoning the well when they’re trying to protect it. Their destructive nature wight be turned towards home, land and water ways as they seek to protect them. Despite this they will be deeply admired by many people and their crimes pass without consequence. They do well when working in any official capacity. Bepin Behari warns against betrayal from subordinates. Once one learns this lesson they will seek to do more and more on their own.

Sun in Mula

(To see the web page follow this link. Last updates 3 April 2023.)

The light that shines from Mula is musty and diffused; possibly a mystical spiritual glow. They tend to disregard the consequences of their actions. Their truth and knowledge goes deep to where others cannot understand. They might find themselves as the central figure or a great calamity causing death, fear and violence. They’ve seen it all and are usually very worldly. They are often like a pole star themselves and all the activity circles around them. They tend towards being dictators, expressing themselves like little bitches leaving havoc in their wake. They tend to be certain about certain universal truths and they try to apply them to particular situations; it just doesn’t work like that. Power and authority seem to be arbitrarily deployed. Father figures can be unpredictable and hypocritical in their expectation. Truth has no solid foundation and it’s possible these people have suffered from and become professionals themselves at “gas-lighting.” They might be known for the occasional theatrically dramatic melt-down and they often have some anger issues.

Sun In Sagittarius “Allows a person to draw upon their experience from the past which allows them to easily listen to the voice of their conscience. They will have an innate understanding that this voice has a strength and rationale which must be listened too and respected.” — Behari

“A painter’s got a canvas. The writer’s got reams of empty paper. A musician has silence.” “I mean some doctor told me I had six months to live and I went to their funeral.” “I’ve never had a problem with drugs. I’ve had problems with the police.” — Keith Richards

“There’s been times when I’ve been standing in a line at a movie and someone’s hit me with something really heavy about someone really close and how our music has helped them get through it. Even in our darkest moments we try and find something beautiful.” — Eddie Vedder

“She was talking about humans as if they were disposable, for the purpose of sex, i was just furious. And I was fed up. I did not spot the red flags, but I did react very negatively. The fact that she was speaking about human beings in this horrible way was very offensive to me. But again, I thought she was discussing consensual adults here.” — About Ghislaine Maxwell (speaker unknown)

Pada

Sun in Mula Pada 1, Aries navamsha: Sun exalted in this Navamsha. Gives extra power to take initiative and rise up in life. One might say that due to their spiritual practices relating to Sun In Sagittarius Mula, that they develop a lot in in power, strength and vitality. They are the kind of person who shines a and expansive light that speaks out everywhere. Like shining a light in the fog or myst. The whole world seems to light up but it doesn’t penetrate very far.

Sun in Mula Pada 4, Cancer navamsha: They become more emotionally expressive. This seems to be the most dangerous pada; they either experience no consequences for the big, clear transgressions, while facing the most severe consequences for relatively inconsequential things. Actor Salman Khan got off from a hit and run that killed a man; but when he shot a dear without a permit he found big trouble. Ghislaine Maxwell, who might herself identify as one of Epstein’s victims finds herself doing time for his crimes. And I’m sure Epstein was not one to express his power in a fair and consistent way. Interesting to see a few pimps along with repressive and communist leaders with a very strong sense of certainty for their ideology. They also tend to be overbearingly nationalistic or territorial.

“Fear begins and ends with the desire to be secure; inward and outward security, with the desire to be certain, to have permanency. The continuity of permanence is sought in every direction, in virtue, in relationship, in action, in experience, in knowledge, in outward and inward things. To find security and be secure is the everlasting cry. It is this insistent demand that breeds fear.” — Jiddu Krishnamurti

“Faith is like an empty, open hand stretched out towards God, with nothing to offer and everything to receive.” — John Calvin

“For the foetus, though enclosed in the womb of its mother, is already a human being, and it is a monstrous crime to rob it of the life which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man’s house is his place of most secure refuge, it ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy a foetus in the womb before it has come to light.” — John Calvin

“If other people do not understand our behaviour — so what? Their request that we must only do what they understand is an attempt to dictate to us. The classics say that one born with moon in Mula will be wise, proud honourable, eloquent, happy, rich, but dishonest, ungrateful, indigent and prone to diseases and theft marring his happiness. He will be fortunate, wealthy, haughty, happy, of unsteady in mind, eldest among co-born and will be a king of a gentle nature, compassionate disposition, firm-minded and luxurious in his living and practicing non-violence.. The native will trouble others, will ensure progress of others’ work, be a liar, lustful and slim. (The classics: Hora Sara, Varahamihira, Brihat Samhita, Sage Narada, Jataka Parijata.)

They are usually compassionate and capable of taking the witness perspective, perhaps even a kind of cultural relativism that puts them at odds with their own culture. This also suggests that they maintain somewhat clouded beliefs, One way or another they will find themselves in the eye of the storm. Other positions will determine if they get carried away by it; however they most likely will numerous times in their lives.   We find many of them living some kind of spiritual life, but they may be new-agey and cultish. They will be involved in many accidents but they manage to get through most of them battered, bruised and changed. They often take a more spiritual and philanthropic path afterwards; though of course few manage to actually change their ways and must go on top the next calamity. Alcohol and sex addictions are common with Mula placements; but most of their lives tend to go against dharma in some way. Females seem more prone to sexual addiction. Both sexes are likely to feel more than their fair share or emotional chaos due to their proclivity to ignore the emotional sides of life.

They are conceited, wealthy, luxurious, kind-hearted, happy resolute. Druggists, dealers in flowers, resolute. They are like an accident waiting to happen, but they are often oblivious to their own destruction capabilities and don’t see themselves as being the source of the calamity though it often the case that they are; they just call it bad luck and move on. The redeeming quality of this destruction is that is leader the native more and more towards faith in god and surrender to the awesome powers of the universe.

Some of these natives are found to use steroids to get the expansive effect of of this asterism, of course they weren’t thinking about the long term consequences of this action. There are certainly some big boys in this group: wrestlers and body builders.

Bepin Behari says that when the Moon is in Sagittarius “the attraction towards pristine existence, the desire for closer association with higher influences will be greatly pronounced.”

Moon in Moola Pada 1, Aries navamsha: are poor, protect their relatives, specially for the sake of money, pure, endowed with good qualities, peaceful, learned and strong. They lose their father and suffer from piles. They are orientated towards the material world, respect from society, wealth, winning. Fair complexion, shining teeth, piercing eyes, aggressive ideology, beautiful nose. They want to use ideology or dogma to destroy their enemies, conquer. One astrologer said that pada 1 natives have small testicles, but I have. Assertive and aggressive to get to the depth, the bottom of things. They do whatever it takes. Athletics, sports, detectives who go above and beyond to find the truth. Arrogant, self-centred, focused on self-respect, lover of philosophical conversation, and talking about past adventures. Progressive.

Moon in Moola Pada 2, Taurus navamsha: Moon is exalted in the navamsha. They suffer from the loss of their mother, kind hearted, like milky, rice and jaggery, endowed with good vehicles, endure some enjoyment, loved by people, respected, attract women, interested in doing good jobs, and loved by his relatives. Thy tend use speech in an emotional way, they have many comforts. They might find wealth, stability and comforts from religious or ideological family without fully embracing that ideology themselves. This can leave a lot of calamity in their wake. However they can be hard working, have excellent foresight and a focused and successful material life

Moon in Moola Pada 3, Gemini navamsha: are wealthy, spendthrifts, good speakers, learned astrologers, speak with great obedience, indulge in all jobs, collectors of a library of books, most intelligent, wise, and respected by kings. They are very much capable of creating a deceptive self-narrative, and face few consequences fo their communications. These people are good at manipulating people through the media. Even what we think about Thomas Edison was mostly an image crafted for mass consumption during age when the maverick inventor lone inventor was all the rage. Intellectual, practical, life work balance, they do not compromise their ideals which causes them to sacrifice material prosperity,

Moon in Moola Pada 4, Cancer navamsha: In the service to the king or government, commanders of army, helping nature, sexy, probably affected by mild tuberculosis. They speak like a women and know the mind of others; they are learned, strong, pure, peaceful, endowed with good qualities and protectors of people. They love water sports some, like Schwarzenegger and Andre the giant have seen a very watery expansion to their bodies. They are said to be sensitive, loving, supportive, parental figures. The emotional side can cause them imbalances in their personality.

Mars in Mula

People with Mars in Moola are actively opening Pandora’s box. A lot of good and evil will flow from their actions. Pleasure and pain might be mixed. High libido and possible sex addiction, high risk activities, lack of accountability for their actions. They are the type of person who will keep getting up to fight after being annihilated time and time again.

They take action to root out what they consider toxic ideology. They can conduct ruthless elimination campaigns. Reagan & Nixon had their fight against Communism, Putin now has his fight against the Nazis’ of Ukraine. The more technically minded people where looking to root out inefficiency or mistakes in order to improve their products. This position might have relations with furnaces, blacksmithing, welding, very high heat and pressure with at least the potential for explosion. There can be a very rapid expansion, just think about how quickly Michael Moore got fat.

They might work on the cremation ground and are highly skilled working with fire, scorched earth methods. They might work with steel or heaven iron, heavy equipment. Their field of activity is typically strewn with dangers. They grind things to dust the way Baruch Spinoza ground optic lenses for most of his career.

They tend to disregard the consequences of their actions the way Ronald Reagan armed the Taliban in a blatant disregard for the future consequences.

Fire fighters: Benjamin Franklin started one of the first volunteer fire fighting brigades. John Gottselig worked as a firefighter in his youth. The fire fighters of 9/11 were given great honours for many years after the event. Billy Graham was known as a fire & brimstone preacher who inspired hundreds of thousands of people to follow Jesus Christ over the years. and in a strange twist, the freeway that was named after him is a common sight of car accidents.Their speech and actions can all have an incendiary character to them, they can really get people fired up.

9/11: Mars & Ketu conjunct in Mula nakshatra saw the senseless destruction of the World Trade Centre. Many fire fighters and emergency personnel died but they were also greatly honoured for their sacrifice. John Gottselig was killed in a gas line explosion while working for a road building company.

Spinoza specialised in making optical lenses and lens grinding with Mars & Venus conjunct in Mula 10th house. I can only speculate that he was also making glass. It was likely tense dust which killed him.

Health relating to Mars in Mula

The health problems caused by this placement are typically caused by a diet that is too rich in fats and sugars as well as even moderate alcohol consumption. Most men with this placement tend to be at least slightly overweight. Anger, stress and high blood pressure can also lead to additional health problems.

Diabetes: Edison died from complications related to diabetes. John Gottselig had diabetes affecting his kidneys and feet. Benjamin Franklin had gout which was most likely caused by diabetes. Sharon Stone has diabetes. Although Julia Roberts does not have diabetes, she did play a role as a diabetic in Steel Magnolia. Osho is also believed to have diabetes. Osho was strongly against white sugar which he considered a poison. King Louis XIV also had diabetes.

Prostate, anus, perineum: It’s said that Mars in Moola can give haemorrhoids or even fistulae if associated with Rahu. Hugo Chavez died from prostate cancer. King Louis XIV had severe fistulae and diabetes.

Astrology King Ptolemy Mars in Mula “Brings danger from wild animals, either to be ripped up by them, massacred, or torn into pieces; accidents, catastrophes, or operations: appendicitis, appendectomy, or removal of haemorrhoids by operation.” This is the same as being born with ascendant here. With Mars there is an additional stalking trait and violence or even murder can happen. They don’t care if their prey is strong or weak they just like the hunt; game hunting can actually work as a kind of remedy for this placement in order the release the urge to kill. If they do not have an outlet for their aggression they can turn their rage on others. Women will usually turn it on other women. There seems to be excess blood flow to the groin area. A dietary remedy is suggested: cottage cheese, rice and raspberry leaf tea along with other good, natural foods. Eliminate meats and chemicals from the diet.”

Pada

Mars in Mula Pada 1, Aries navamsha: They often have at least a stint in the military, firefighting. They are often little guys who stand up to bullies and fight against the odds. You simple can’t break their will.

Mars in Mula Pada 2, Taurus navamsha: Gives very fiery, passionate speech. One becomes exceptionally set on course once started. They go all in in such a way that they cannot change course even after discovering they are going in the wrong direction.

Mars in Mula Pada 4, Cancer navamsha: Mars debilitated in navamsha. This is the sort of position that starts out with good intentions but quickly spirals out of control. The are no longer fighting against bullies, they have become the bully.

Mercury in Mula

“All that is gold does not glitter; not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither; deep roots are not reached by the frost.”  J.R.R. Tolkien

They might not feel like they are accountable for their words. Channellers, prophetic messages, ideas that come out of nowhere. Writing or speaking might feel like they loose control of themselves and become taken over by that great mother who wants to use them to spread knowledge from ancient times. A kind of disembodied voice, many are excellent writers, poets, song writers, musicians.

They have strong powers of observation an analysis which makes them very good at maths and sciences with a capability to see beyond the words and numbers. They usually have good knowledge off ancient mythologies and symbolic representations of things. You could say that this Mercury seeks to account for the chaos and measure out time-space. They seek to calculate what cannot be calculated; even Shiva found no end to the great Mother when he tried to flee from her. They might not be able to account for where they get their information, numbers or measurements but they will usually be correct. They tend to know that accidents will happen so they try to account for it beforehand.

Deafness or hearing problems might increase their witness perspective. Mike H. and Beethoven are both mostly deaf. Kipling was often accused of being tone deaf; especially for his poem “the White Man’s Burden.”

Many of these natives don’t do well in the traditional education system though they tend to be quite intelligent. They can never accept a theory or doctrine at face value, they have to analyse it and understand it. This can be a difficult in a system has mostly focused on memory and wrote learning. Watch and learn is their motto. Their thinking can be a bit flighty and scattered as they seek to measure the unmeasurable. It can be good position ……

Isaac Newton proved that the earth spins on an axis, and that the whole universe rotates around the Sun. He was too focused on his own research to spend much time with students; his lectures were poorly attended.

“Children make up the best songs, anyway. Better than grown-ups. Kids are always working on songs and throwing them away, like little origami things or paper airplanes. They don’t care if they lose it; they’ll just make another one.”  Tom Waits

Like “Hey, Ray, what the hell is this?” Oh, that’s lipstick from the 1700s, that’s dog food from the turn of the century, that’s a hat from World War II. I’m interested in the minutiae of things. Oddities.”  Tom Waits

“There’s nothing more embarrassing than a person who tries to guess what the great American public would like, makes a compromise for the first time, and falls flat on his face… I would rather be a failure on my own terms than a success on someone else’s. That’s a difficult statement to live up to, but then I’ve always believed that the way you affect your audience is more important than how many of them are there.”  Tom Waits

“Poetry is a kind of ingenious nonsense.” — Isaac Newton

“As animals, we walk the earth. As bearers of divine essence, we are among the stars. As human beings, we are caught in the middle, seeking to reconcile the paradox of how to make our way upon earth while striving for something more permanent and more profound.” … . “The union of nature and soul removes the veil of ignorance that covers our intelligence.”   “It is Einstein’s famous equation E=MC^2, in which E is energy (rajas), M is mass (tamas), and C is the speed of light (sattva). Ptolemy Mercury in Mula causes people to “study other individuals through literature and other methods of communication. They might stalk a celebrated or important person at the mental level, gathering all information on the person and their work. These individuals can drive themselves into a nervous breakdown in their attempts to discover everything they can about the person they are investigating. They can get deeply involved and take up a cause for the person they are stalking if they feel the persons had been treated unjustly.”

Jupiter in Mula

Too much freedom: freedom from suffering and freedom to do anything they want. They might have many illegitimate children, illegitimate credentials. They might have broad base of knowledge but will not use it. They might abandon everything they ever learned. The moral compass does not work very well in Mula where there are no directions

Queen Elizabeth I was crowned after years of brutal wars and murders of religious rivals. Her father had instigated a schism; her sister brutally slaughtered hundreds if not thousands. Queen Elizabeth I was able to maintain an open mind on religious topics which was essentially the foundation of peace and religious tolerance in England.

They will have knowledge of their roots back to ancient times. They might have extensive studies in various branches of knowledge, but for their work they will, on one hand, abandon all of them, while on the other hand bringing all their knowledge together to do something unique. One one hand they might worship dark gods while on the other hand proclaiming that all gods are one. They are spiritual without being religious; though they will be like to celebrate all the local religious traditions. But somehow they will remain unaccountable for their beliefs and may have learned that there are no consequences to their beliefs. There moral compass shows the same in every direction it’s not working. They can be very good guides when everything is hopeless.

From another prospective they might have a lot of illegitimate children. Possibly acting as a kind of nurturing spiritual nourishing caretaker for so many children. Creation without regard for the consequences; mindless indulgence, excessive pride. Of course women might also have husbands like this: unaccountable. On the other hand, Jupiter is capable of incredible expansion in Mula, there is not limit to Mula, to Ketu, to chaos, to what morals can be abandoned. In some ways they accept that what is, is perfect. They might believe in the Buddhist doctrine on momentariness which leaves the moment without meaning and from there they can easily slip into nihilism. I tend to refute the doctrine of momentariness by taking it the other way and connecting it with the moment before and all the other moments before, back to the deep deep roots of where this moment comes from; to the beginning of time. So this moment might be all that is really real, but all of time, past and future, is also contained in it. The moment is not empty, but full. Everything that ever happened is contained in the moment. You get your moment over there because I get mine over here. It’s all connected and because of that it all has meaning and possibility. Freedom from suffering and freedom to do as you like; the ultimate freedom. This is where we discover how dangerous or compassionate that freedom can be,

They will ultimate worship a formless god. This puts them on the side of Shiva and the fierce forms of mother and mother nature. Put simple: they have faith in Kali ma. In her four arms she holds a a severed head (Aries), a skull cap for alms (Taurus), a trident (Gemini), a sickle or crescent shaped knife as would be used in the fields (Cancer).

“I have a very strong spiritual need. And getting into nature is going to church for me. It’s my way of surrendering to the bigger picture, to the whole. I feel the skin of life on the planet as a sort of co-evolved life form… It’s my own belief that [nature] is alive, a single organism on this amazing, rare, and perhaps unique planet. I really need to feel that connection.” — James Taylor

Venus in Mula

They have great appreciation for abstract philosophy, religious ceremony, spiritual art and styles. They enjoy large, opulent, otherworldly wedding ceremonies, pageants, military parades, ribbon cutting, and all kinds of pointless ceremonies, for every little thing. They can appreciate the beauty of destruction, annihilation, things that have been turned to ash. They are humanists, open minded, accepting of all religions.

May give cataracts: cloudy vision, or cloudy senses generally. They love the dreamy cloudy world of science fiction and fantasy, abstract art,

“The drama of this psychopath for Mailer is that he or she seeks love—but love as the search for an orgasm more “apocalyptic” than the ones that preceded it.”  Fyodor Dostoevsky

“Is there beauty in Sodom? Believe me, that for the immense mass of mankind beauty is found in Sodom. Did you know that secret? The awful thing is that beauty is mysterious as well as terrible. God and the devil are fighting there and the battlefield is the heart of man.”  Fyodor Dostoevsky

“Above all, do not lie to yourself. A man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point where he does not discern any truth either in himself or anywhere around him, and thus falls into disrespect towards himself and others. Not respecting anyone, he ceases to love, and having no love, he gives himself up to passions and coarse pleasures in order to occupy and amuse himself, and in his vices reaches complete beastiality, and it all comes form lying continually to others and himself. A man who lies to himself is often the first to take offence. it sometimes feels very good to take offence, doesn’t it? And surely he knows that no one has offended him, and that he himself has invented the offence and told lies just for the beauty of it, that he has exaggerated for the sake of effect, that he has picked up on a word and made a mountain out of a pea–he knows all of that, and still he is the first to take offence, he likes feeling offended, it gives him great pleasure, and thus he reaches the point of real hostility…”  Fyodor Dostoevsky

“The more conscious I was of goodness and of all that was ‘sublime and beautiful,’the more deeply I sank into my mire and the more ready I was to sink in it altogether.”  Fyodor Dostoevsky

“She was very fond of thinking and getting at the truth of things, but was so far from being pedantic, so full of youthful ways that from the first moment one began to love all these originalities in her, and to accept them. […] This naive combination in her of the child and the thinking woman, this childlike and absolutely genuine thirst for truth and justice, and absolute faith in her impulses–all this lighted up her face with a fine glow of sincerity, giving it a lofty, spiritual beauty, and one began to understand that it was not so easy to gauge the full significance of that beauty which was not all at once apparent to every ordinary unsympathetic eye.”  Feodor Dostoevsky

“When I fall into the abyss, I go straight into it, head down and heels up, and I’m even pleased that I’m falling in just such a humiliating position, and for me I find it beautiful. And so in that very shame I suddenly begin a hymn.”  Fyodor Dostoevsky

“Beauty is a terrible and awful thing! It is terrible because it has not been fathomed and never can be fathomed, for God sets us nothing but riddles. Here the boundaries meet and all contradictions exist side by side. I am not a cultivated man, brother, but I’ve thought a lot about this. It’s terrible what mysteries there are! Too many riddles weigh men down on earth. We must solve them as we can, and try to keep a dry skin in the water.”  Fyodor Dostoevsky

“Beauty is very difficult to judge. I’m not ready for it yet. Beauty is a mystery.”  Fyodor Dostoevsky

Saturn in Mula

This can be a pretty heavy karmic position since Mula will bring up ancient karmas from past lives. This is your karma’s being sucked into a black hole. This can be a very heavy placement with a lot of gravity in religious or ideological matters. They can be intolerant of the beliefs of others. They might belong to an ancient order with very strict rules about who is allowed in. I have had many clients with this Saturn; they believe in astrology and the ancient sciences, Ayurveda, Tantra, witchcraft, rituals, the power of sticks and stones.

Saturn is a little uncomfortable in the theoretical field of Mula where nothing really sticks together. Saturn likes facts and reality rather than the theory and belief of this placement. They might treat theory as fact. They can be good at mathematics and what we call the hard sciences.

Ursula Le Guin has Saturn in Mula in the 9th house. From the Moon, Saturn rules the 9th and 10th houses and is situated in the 8th house Mula. She is a science fiction writer known to have advocated nihilism and anarchy political philosophies. She was required reading for an class called: “East Meets West.”

Ptolemy Saturn in Mula brings “danger from wild animals, either to be ripped up by them, massacred, or torn into pieces; accidents, catastrophes, or operations: appendicitis, appendectomy, or removal of haemorrhoids by operation.” This is the same as being born with ascendant here. Saturn brings extreme pain to the groin causing them to have to walk with a cane. Camomile tea is suggested for treatment. Uranus and Pluto are said to give similar results.

Chamatkar Chintamani Saturn In Sagittarius: “Fond of learning, knowledge, study and research. Interest in domestic life, generous, helpful, bold, capacity to predict through intuition and insight. Religious, blessed with talented children, affluence with age, reputed, quiet, courteous, gain through securities and investments. Conjunct Sun, the native adopts a son and gains mane, fame and wealth through him. Impotent. With Moon, takes away the mother, much organising and constructive ability, blessed with a comely wife and promising sons. With Mars causes biliousness, notorious, condemned, criticised, impulsive. With Mercury it brings great reputation, honour, professor, noble, wealthy, and sociable. With Jupiter it grants very high status with fortune, happiness and affluence. With Venus, it indicates a step-father or mother, living by forestry, capable but sensuous.”

Pada

Saturn in Mula Pada 1, Aries Navamsha: Saturn’s debilitation Pada. Queen Bloody Mary has paid a heavy price for her extermination campaign. They can get quite aggressive in pushing their ideology. They get right to the point which might feel like a knife under the rids. Nancy Spungen was killed by stabbing. Oonagh Shanley-Toffolo was Princess Diana’s acupuncturist healer.

Saturn in Mula Pada 2, Taurus Navamsha: Wealth can get wiped out as fast as it comes in.

Saturn in Mula Pada 4, Cancer Navamsha: We might note that only men seem to have this placement of Saturn. Perhaps it’s particularly dangerous to female babies or children. Or perhaps its a fluke of the data set I’m using.

Rahu in Mula 1st house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 1st house “makes a person short lived. He has wealth and strength but suffers from ailments in the upper part of the body like the face or head, etc.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 1st house “gives a wicked and vicious nature. The person deceives his own men, suffers from disease of the brain, is sickly, is extremely lustful and victorious in debate. The native will experience bodily pain in Rahu dasha; he does not have any moral scruples or hesitation in using others of their things, but cannot bear injustice done to themselves. They are extremely clever and cunning in fulfilling their selfish desires.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 1st house and Ketu in the 7th intensifies the material urges of the individual. It drives one to seek prosperity, personal prowess, greater work skills, higher social status, and to leave ones mark on society. Yet these individuals fail to satisfy their thirst completely. This leads to disenchantment with the people or groups with whom they come in contact. Self-conceit greatly vitiates their interpersonal relationships and these individuals may experience great anguish and phycological frustration at many levels. They may begin to analyse the working of their inner mind. The psychological changes arising out of situation makes them more introverted. As their frustration is transmuted these persons gradually begin to immerse themselves in humanitarian activities and become useful members of society and helpful and understanding workers.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 1st house and Ketu in the 7th “fortunate in that it allows the native to successfully project their personality to the outside world. Rahu is said to do well in the 1st, 9th & 10th houses. If Rahu is placed very close to the ascendant degree, then it gives an out of ordinary physical appearance and personality. The person is usually on the taller side and has a peculiar sort of wordiness attached to their manners, which of course is not very pleasing to others. A heightened sense of self, which can often turn into ta false sense of pride or vanity, is noticed; which can drive them to act mindlessly on many occasions. If Rahu is working through his higher principle, this position provides keen insight and capacity for constant introspection. This is why this combination produces so many philosophers and saints. These men having the true understanding of the working of the cosmic forces don’t like to be addressed by titles. Rahu here can also provide deep insights into mass psychology and future trends. they can be found working in any field, but we do find that many scientists, inventors, explorers, adventures have this placement. They like to have independence in whatever they are doing. Rahu in the first provides good physical stamina and vitality that might be over-extended in exploration in extreme conditions, adventure sports. They often feel lonely. Their sense of individuality does not depend on social intercourse and they have capacity to be alone for long periods of time. Ketu in 7th hinders the formation of any lasting relationship. Unless there are powerful forces over-riding this, life-long bachelors is the norm with this placement. Relationships only stand a chance if their partner gives them lots of room to be themselves and follow their own path. They can be sweet and humble in their social conduct unless afflicted. They always stand by the way they think and feel and are very frank and outspoken about it. This habit does not help them win many friends except those with enough understanding to gage their real intent. Public speaking comes naturally to these people even is they seem shy off-stage. The native has to learn to take the spotlight off one’s own self in order to understand and accommodate others. They are caught up in the dilemma of why should one scatter one’s energies outside when the whole universe exists within the self. This often causes them to completely exclude the world outside. More evolved souls do not make this mistake because they understand self-realisation has no meaning unless it is shared with and includes the world outside as well.”
    • Buddy Holly (3),Isambard Kingdom Brunel (3), Sexual Abuse #3 (3), Priti J.B. (3), Rahu conjunct Moon: AOC (2), Rose McGowan (4), Sharvangi Varanasi (2), Ernest Hemingway (3), Thomas Beatie (2), Isambard Kingdom Brunel (3), George Washington (2), Yves Saint Laurent (4),

Rahu in Mula 2nd house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 2nd house “will make the person insecure in their speech, suffer from diseases of the mouth or face. They will be contemptible, receive wealth from the ruler, be happy but short tempered.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 2nd house “disturbed the natives speech making in unpleasant and unwelcome, wealth is destroyed and the person becomes a rover, a wanderer and a loiterer. Conflict, sorrow, and separation from family, loss of connection to paternal property, difficulty accumulation wealth, and valuables may be lost, stolen or eaten by ants.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 2nd house and Ketu in the 8th may give the individual a sense of mission, a feeling that he or she is functioning as an agent for some higher power. In extreme cases this can lead to megalomania. More often it makes one so opinionated that it may be difficult for them to establish a positive rapport with others. These persons have unrealistic expectations of others and want to change them to suit their own specifications. They may not feel content with their achievements, and become obsessed with securing even more. The promise of acquiring greater physical or spiritual merit often brings radical changes in their thinking. They may grow interested in occult sciences as they become increasingly aware of the immense psycho-physical possibilities inherent in the process of expending their consciousness.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 2nd house and Ketu in the 8th: “Considered a good placement for the wise management of resources, material and spiritual, available at ones command unless there is affliction. If afflicted the native is sure to go through a period of deprivation followed by a period of plenty. It’s good for material well being but the desires never end. There is an intensity about getting exactly what they want. Satisfaction or the lack of it became a keynote for these natives. Usually gives an attractive personality, especially to female natives if there are favourable supports. It usually imparts an unorthodox beauty and captivating quality to the natives face which seems to mature early. Although this position of the nodes supports a wide variety of professions it has a tendency to favour mathematicians, linguists, astrologers, economists, financiers, bankers, explorers, researchers, singers, and musicians. It favours a capitalist mindset unless aspected by Saturn. If badly afflicted the native can loose his sense of proportion and earn through trickery, deceit, bribery, blackmail or theft. It’s likely many drug dealers have this placement. Money made is usually spent quickly on indulgences: smoking, alcohol, meat. Jupiter aspect can redeem a person. A lot of present day evils arise from this combination, but in its higher aspect it gives a love for truth and a charitable disposition. Ketu in the 8th house is good for carrying out research in any chosen field. If working through its higher aspect the native will not fear death as they understand its power to renew. If well placed and materially inclined it can bring legacies and resources of others later in life; but if it’s weak it will only give expectation and no fulfilment. Affliction can give sexually transmitted disease. There is need to maintain calm in the the worldly game of gain and loss. If the native gets carried away in either of these they will find life to be unforgiving. They need to seek balance between the earthy second house and the emotional 8th house.”
    • Dennis Hopper (4), Napoleon Bonaparte (1), 2nd from Moon: Sylvia Brown (1), Kevin Costner (4), Dhwani P. (3), Kaia W. (2),

Rahu in Mula 3rd house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 3rd house native “will be proud, hostile to his brothers, strong minded, enjoying longevity and wealth.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 3rd house “native has no fear of the enemy, his fame and glory spreads around the world, he always has the attainment of welfare, grandeur, majesty, happiness, licentiousness or luxurious life; but there is the destruction of younger brothers and cattle. Rahu is auspicious in the 3rd house and allows them to complete their plus quickly, surprise others with their power of discretion or taking decisions and fulfilling his responsibility.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 3rd house and Ketu in the 9th gives many responsibilities along with a tendency towards reclusiveness. These individuals come out of their isolation when their assistance is sought and they are thrust into leadership roles. The leadership may be philanthropic activities, dissemination of the wisdom of the past and sacred scriptures, or in the realm of political organisation and philosophy. They may impart guidance in psychological exploration or industrial organisation. They suffer when they have to follow routine duties; otherwise they do not reject hard work, penance, and contemplation. Gradually they realise that public and charitable work is the best goal in life and they embrace the principle of right action: selfless activity with no expectation of reward.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 3rd house and Ketu in the 9th: “This is considered an auspicious placement for the nodes. Rahu provides material success while Ketu takes care of inner life. Rahu provides courage but also misunderstandings with younger siblings. As is the case with natural malefics the live things of the house suffer (younger siblings and companions), while the non-living things prosper: mental and physical energy, passions, prowess, leadership ability, oratory, scientific rational thinking, writing ability, etc. In some cases strong assistance from younger siblings helps one get ahead in life (or vice versa). Short journeys bring luck, though they can sometimes be unpleasant. Longer journeys to distant countries do not turn out to be suited for the native unless Ketu is strong in a friendly sign and conjunct the yoga karaka planet or exalted planet. A peculiar thing of this placement is that the native can hold a gun or a pen with equal ease; which they choose depends on other things in the chart. Writers, orators, painters, sculptors, instrumentalists, soldiers, athletes (especially those requiring skill and strength of arms), generals, revolutionaries, political and spiritual leaders are likely to have this combination. The physical and metal abilities provided by this Rahu can be uses in positive way if other placements in the chart provide an integrated personality. I have found that, due to the 3rd house emphasis, this placement to produce a number of atheists who swear by science and scientific thought. Late in life that can swing to the other pole and denounce everything material. They have to strike a balance between physics and religion; aggression and compassion, the drive and the path, mater and spirit. If an evolved should is capable of striking this balance they will realise the beauty, dexterity, gentleness, and genius of this placement. The first half of life is usually more fruitful than the second half: if the native achieves fame and fortune in his youth, this will be lost in his 40s. Age 47 begins a new episode in their life: for those who have had a relatively uneventful life until this point they now, after 47, find an opportunity to make their mark on the world. Ketu should be quite strong for this to happen. After age 47 Ketu tries to bring the 9th house to light. For those who have lived a material existence up to this point will find it a miserable experience; especially if they are not willing to change the course of their life.”

Rahu in Mula 4th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 4th house person “will be a fool, contemptuous, causing misery to friends, short lived and seldom happy.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 4th house native “losses all happiness, opposed by own people, sons, friends, and waders in lands other than his own. Health of native’s mother is disturbed, he suffers mental tension, disputes over immovable property.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 4th house and Ketu in the 10th may bring emotional suffering and the frustration of desire. These natives often enjoy many physical comforts and opportunities for sense gratification, but first they may pass through heart wrenching situations of utter hopelessness. Their despair may not appear on their faces; indeed, others may accuse them of insensitivity or of exaggerating their troubles. These emotional setbacks may seriously affect their relationships. Those with extremely weak egos may suffer from schizophrenia; those with exaggerated egos may become ruthless and pursue their objectives without consideration for others. When they begin to deal with their inner issues constructively, they prepare themselves to meet any situation without giving undue importance to their person conveniences, dislikes, or troubles. They begin to realise that life is not for idleness but for working simply for the works sake, without wasting time or licking one’s wounds.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 4th house and Ketu in the 10th: “Everything is fine as long as the native is not ambitious about career. Contentment is the key word of this placement, A strong attachment to mother or mother figures in seen; similar to Rahu conjunct Moon. Some help from the mother or the mother’s side helps one get ahead in life. The father figure is usually absent from a young age or ignored. They no not like vocations that involve a lot of travelling. They prefer to have a permanent home in a particular village, town or city where they spend the majority of their life. They usually prefer smaller towns to bigger cities. 4th house vocations like property dealers, agriculturists, dairy farmers, transporters, professional drivers, child psychologists, children story writers, interior decorators, architects, construction engineers, etc. are favoured by this placement. At least a couple changes of profession are common. Ketu in the 10th hinders job satisfaction. It becomes the natives duty to insulate the emotional aspects of life rather than the practical aspects. A sudden fall is imminent if the native gets over ambitious in career or reputation. Any attempt to suppress the the active subconscious can make their lives dull and sad.”

Rahu in Mula 5th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 5th house “will give a nasally voice to the person, cause them to be issueless, hard-hearted and suffering from stomach ache.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 5th house “makes the native devoid of happiness and friends, they suffer a sharp pain in they abdomen and they loiter and wander aimlessly.” “ There may be obstacles in the birth of the first child.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 5th house and Ketu in the 11th activates the persons creativity in a paradoxical manner, restricting material creativity in order to impels the creative forces to higher levels from which beneficence of different kinds can be radiated. These individuals may experience difficulty in having offspring of their own, but on a mental plane they are very active. The keep themselves extremely busy. Material creativity might suffer, as may sociability, and there can be anxiety about financial security. Despondency due to such experiences makes them seek compensation on the mental plane where they attain some degree of satisfaction. Ultimately they may become both impersonal and quite successful in relationships. They attain significant social status and may make a great deal of money. They eventually realise that their happiness and peace of mind do not depend on specific work involvements but on a trust in the law of karma. Even in small everyday activities their actions are now guided by an attitude of helpfulness.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 5th house and Ketu in the 11th: “This combination can produce the best and the worse type of human being. The 5th and 11th deal directly with ones mental make-up and interaction with others. They have abundant mental energy which can be used for good or evil. Rahu in the 5th provides this mental energy along with highlighting 5th house affairs — intellect, creativity, self-consciousness, past life merits and demerits, children, love of the self and others, acting, confidence, education, publications, mantra, the chosen deity, etc. This is also the house governing mass media and cinema. This is the reason why most actors and other people associated with movie and stage productions have this combination. In my view, photography originates from this placement. In many charts of photographers I have come across this nodal placement in 90% of them. Under malefic influence Rahu in 5th can produce megalomania and even dictators if Sun & Mars are involved — dictators of nations as well as the self styled dictators of home and workplace. It can also produce crooks and swindlers, thieves, thugs if Mercury is afflicted or involved in this combination. It is thus a very sensitive place for Rahu where one need to channel their creative and intellectual energies for the benefit of the group or the sphere of ones influence. In other words, this energy needs to be channelled through he 11th house. There is usually a break in formal education making vocational training preferable to classical education. When working in it’s higher principle, 11th house Ketu allows channelling to happen with ease. When afflicted it can block the 11th house so that one does not have many friends nor are they involved in any social or humanitarian projects resulting in a self-centred life. The self-conscious has to become a part of the group consciousness, and form a part of the collective human consciousness, before finally merging with the greater universal consciousness. 5th house is fire, the 11th house is air; air has no warmth without fire and fire cannot burn without air. The fire produced in 5th house should be dissapated in tot the 11th house so it reaches those who require it. This is the challenge for these natives. Ketu in the 11th house produces misunderstanding with the elder brother and is not considered favourable. Some anxiety on the part of children, their birth and development is also seen. If having children the native usually makes for a concerned parent.”

Rahu in Mula 6th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 6th house man is born “troubled by enemies or oppressed by malefic planets [sic], has ulcers in his rectum, is wealthy and enjoys longevity.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 6th house “causes the destruction of enemies and makes the native wealthy giving strength from the company of dirty, sinful people. He suffers back pain and cattle remain sickly and diseased. One may have an ulcer.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 6th house and Ketu in the 12th makes these people intensely concentrated on material pursuits. Often their dreams, psychic experiences and spiritual contacts affect them at deeper levels, producing radical transformations in their mental attitude. They feel unhappy about social differences and may face illness, litigations, and personal accusations but they confront them with courage and confidence, and the final outcome works in their favour. The experience gained in these confrontations gives them inner confidence. Their dream experiences, increased sensitivity, and psychic visions initiate them in the knowledge of supra physical realms. The perception of higher realities now becomes more meaningful to them than the enjoyment of physical comforts and social acclaim. They gradually establish greater control over their psycho-physical functions.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 6th house and Ketu in the 12th: “Rahu is said to function well in the upachaya houses and Ketu has a natural affinity for the 12th house. This is generally true, but when it comes to giving hard times this is the toughest placement. Rahu in the 6th highlights 6th house things like work, service, health, enmity, distillation and discrimination, dietary and personal habits, accidents, diseases, discipline and austerity, opposition, litigation, power, helpers, medicine, healing. Natives with this placement have come to terms with all of this negative energy to some extent. 6th house represents adolescent years so from this early period these natives show an immaculate sense of method and order in their lives (provided there are supporting factors). If this Rahu is afflicted they can indulge in mindless behaviour that harms themselves and others which they come to later regret. This is a good combination for physicians, healers, therapeutic vocations. The native usually deals with foreigners and benefits from them in some way: foreign service, tourism, import-export, shipping, etc. They have capacity for heard work, and a dint of fearlessness is noticed. Ketu in the 12th usually gives some psychic experience either through dream or visions [or related to the functions of planets in conjunction]. This is a good position for spiritual pursuits, but Ketu has to be acting through his higher principle. The native usually has some understanding of the divine forces in a very personal way. This position of Ketu usually brings about some unpleasant experiences: imprisonment, isolation, accidents, but this is often a good thing as they are paying off karmas from their past. Isolation is very important for these natives as it can bring out latent abilities. After this realisation follows the hard work indicated by Rahu in 6th. A peculiar trait of this Rahu is that no matter how are they try to avoid enmity, it seems to follow them; this makes forgiveness one of the most important qualities the native can develop. This combination is also beneficial in modern day politics where dealing with enemies and behind the scenes manoeuvres comes naturally to the native. These native usually prevail over their enemies, but enemies can also bring their downfall, and even their death. This position of the nodes usually give a strong constitution but other planets involved can cause serious disease or difficult to diagnose disorders. Sudden unexpected death can also happen if there are other contributing factors. Worldly recognition or success comes only after a long struggle, these natives are very career conscious. They can be headstrong and there is danger of misuse of power, but Ketu in 12th will bring their downfall to teach them the lesson. The native has to guard against rigidity which comes from too much order and discipline in life. They also have to guard against loosing themselves in extreme indulgence from having a complete lack of discipline. Financially the native is neither a miser nor a spendthrift, but they often take up either extreme asceticism or extreme indulgence as a means of attaining liberation. Some few take up the middle path once wisdom dawns on them.”

Rahu in Mula 7th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 7th house “native loses his wealth through his association with the opposite sex, deserted by his beloved, suffers from loss of semen, is self willed and foolish.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 7th house give “opposition from ones own partner or one becomes the cause of death of one’s own partner. The natives partner is wrathful, angry, quarrelsome, sickly, and diseased; one remains dissatisfied with married life. Intercaste marriage, losses from business partners, and delay in beginning ones profession.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 7th house and Ketu in the 1st may produce restrictions in ones relationships. Psychologically the person can be self0-centred; socially, he is sometimes lonely. He expects the world to conform to his terms while he himself is reluctant to compromise. Such individuals may find partners in life, wether business , social life, or in marriage, not working in harmony with them. Enduring amiability or happiness are difficult to establish. Marital problems do not necessarily arise due to any lack of desire to achieve harmony and adjustment, but could be caused by illness, voluntary or involuntary separate living arrangements, divorce. Such experiences may lead the individual to extreme degrees of loneliness; he feels no one understands or appreciates him. These people have a tendency to relapse into seclusion, to keep away from others physically as well as in thought. When they begin to develop self-awareness, they then find themselves well prepared to undertake severe austerities and to assume a spiritual course in life.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 7th house and Ketu in the 1st: “The native is pronounced worldly wise even when they are functioning on an otherworldly plane. Rahu in the 7th takes good care on ones social standing between the years of 24-42 unless there are overriding negative indications. The spouse is usually more mature than the native and a rise of fortune takes place after marriage. If Rahu is working through his lower principle than the motive behind these relationships is questionable and balance is not maintained causing misunderstandings, break-ups and abuse at various levels. If the nodal axis is afflicted these natives will carry out the mindless sexuality we see in modern media. Balance in sexuality is absent allowing the darker side to take over. They often enjoy vocations dealing with people like counsellors, psychologists, management experts, project coordinators etc. They usually start something on their own as they would rather be boss of their own small private setup than work under someone in a bigger set up. Ketu in the ascendant usually adds some psychic dimension to the personality and gives a self effacing nature. An aspect from Jupiter will solve 90% of the problems that can arise from this placement. Natives are usually short in height and have an out of ordinary appearance if Ketu is close to the ascendant degrees. The ascendant lord needs to be well placed to keep these natives from being too under-confident in regards to appearance and personality. An exaggerated self-consciousness may be apparent. Ketu in the 1st is also supposed to give low appetite and peculiar tastes in foods. They can internalise energy and develop along spiritual lines. Spiritual transformation usually takes place in later years. The native has to be careful about depending on relationships to drive his or her sense of self.”

Rahu in Mula 8th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 8th house “native is short lived, does impure acts, is disabled, developed gout, and rheumatism and is blessed with few children.” “Rahu with Mars can bring cancer.” “Causes death by leprosy, by taking food mixed with poison, by venomous bites, or small pox and the like.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 8th house brings the “destruction of one’s enemies, but there is pain in the anus, urinary disease, windy disease, enraged testicles and he remains restless and troubled. Disputes and quarrels over inheritance, fear of theft and wealth earned in questionable ways.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 8th house and Ketu in the 2nd attracts super-physical powers. Such individuals often display tremendous energy which they utilise to achieve extraordinary results. They make their mark on society. Under favourable planetary conditions they create a niche for themselves and may become greta scientists, exceptional police officers, politicians or doctors. If the individual is preoccupied with sense gratification, however, he or she may be drawn towards unapproved activities such as smuggling, drug trafficking or gambling. The results of Rahu in the8th are difficult to predict because the range of the unseen work which this house represents is very extensive. Whatever their achievements in life, this placement will lead to the sudden psychological transformation of these individuals.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 8th house and Ketu in the 2nd “Confers long life, but Ketu in the 2nd is not considered good for maintaining a smooth financial situation throughout life unless Ketu is in Sagittarius or Pisces; but even then they will have to suffer substantial loss at least once in life. It gives peculiarities in the way the native handles money: miserly with small spending but carefree with big purchases. Gambling can be a major downfall of this placement: this is the worst nodal placement for luck in speculation, while feeling the desire to gamble. Extreme cases can see the native gamble on almost everything in life; including their own life. A lot of natives who squander ancestral property are born with this placement. This Ketu gives a wandering nature and pleasurable travels. Many renown travellers have this nodal placement. Since the native is not inclined to follow orthodox religious rituals he should strive to develop some personal philosophy in life. Ketu in the 2nd causes bitterness in family life, which requires patience on the natives part. The native may end up under the control of their life partner at some point. This Ketu can adda sarcastic tone to the voice and the native can be a bitter critic and use foul language. Rahu in the 8th promises legacies and wealth from the partner. At the very least the native can be forced to learn humility by accepting resources from others. This Rahu favours 8th house professions: scientists, researchers, explorers, adventurers, insurance agents, bankers, spies, detectives, writers of mystery stories, occultists and all kinds of employment involving old things. If working through its lower principle this Rahu can make the native commit some bad deeds similar to those of Rahu in the 2nd house. It’s a very dangerous placement as the dark side of the 8th house is a very destructive force. There is a thin line between the balanced use and the excessive use of 8th house energies. The native can totally neglect 2nd house affairs or handle them in a very peculiar manner. The native needs to control their speech. It can be better to communicate in writing as their speech will often be misunderstood. Optimism also needs to be cultivated as these natives can be overly pessimistic.”

Rahu in Mula 9th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 9th house “makes a person unfavourable in their speech (ie. overly critical). One becomes the headman of a community or village, mayor of a city and sinful in deeds.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 9th house “makes a person irreligious but happy; roving and devoid of wealth. Wealth is lost, happiness from co-borns in lost, and one suffers pain in their body. Gives sudden attainment of wealth but father might face exceptional financial crisis. They person reforms religious law to suit his own needs, but he is religious. He openly opposes any kind of exploitation and outward hypocrisy in religion.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 9th house and Ketu in the 3rd produces a psychological storm which may be religious in nature. These individuals become charged with ideas that could seem idealistic, unconventional, and provocative to others. Rahu makes the individual absorbs in his or her thoughts, perhaps with some sympathy for others, but often without external demonstration of it, That may appear as if some superior spirit has taken possession of their personality which, under malefic planetary influences, could make them ruthless in executing their nefarious programmes. In large numbers of people, this placement of the nodes creates attraction towards religion, holy places, tantric rituals, and austerities — all with the intention of securing greater personal advantages. There is a gulf between the secret aspirations of these individuals and their external activities, which may make them insecure, temperamental, peevish, or irritable. Coordination between the hidden ambitions and aspiration for psychic power and their actual deeds may be difficult to achieve. But this is the stage where, with some guidance and luck, they can obtain much spiritual merit. They are well prepared for psychological metamorphosis which could radically change the direction of their life course.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 9th house and Ketu in the 3rd: “These natives usually meet their destiny in a foreign land or through foreigners. The native usually believes in religious symbolism though not striating in the orthodox sense. The native is seen to concentrate on 9th house affairs: long journeys, philosophy, inner life, foreign influences, ethical disposition , higher mind, initiation and self realisation. It must not be misunderstood that the native will follow organised religion; he is more likely to develop a personal philosophy. Ketu in the 3rd house shows some sort of skill related to the 3rd house like writing, painting or other skills involving the hands, but Ketu usually requires some additional good conjunction or aspect to bring out these latent talents. Ketu is even more dangerous than Rahu for the live things related to 3rd house like younger siblings. An unhappy first half to life makes childhood a time not worth remembering. When poorly placed this Ketu is like a dog roaming the streets with much unnecessary and fruitless travels and wandering. Whether the native rises from their childhood scars asa saviour or a revengeful manic depends on the over all chart. Aspects from Jupiter of Ketu’s depositor can usually iron things out.”
    • Jen Child (3), 9th from Moon: Christine Texas (3), Sexual Abuse #3 (3), Selina Gomez (2),

Rahu in Mula 10th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 10th house makes “a person reputed, with limited children and busy with other peoples business. He does not do any good act and is fearless.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 10th house “native is devoid of happiness from father, devoid of wealth, destroyer of enemies, suffers windy diseases and gets injury from conveyance. The native will turn towards mean base deeds, addiction, intoxication, relations with several women to satisfy their lust. Profit from trade, much litigation, trouble in foreign countries, habit of stealing, lack of moral decency, and given to pride. Rahu in Pisces can be the cause of much pain and trouble. Auspicious influences can give bathing in holy rivers (Ganga), and lack of malefic influence may influence them to perform yagna. The native is exceptionally skilful, dexterous in trade or professional activities, uses any means to remove obstacles that come in his way and he does not pay heed to the sanctity or purity of means. For these reasons others take special care doing business with the native.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 10th house and Ketu in the 4th impels an individual  certainly to affect society in which he or she lives. These natives are able to concretise abstract ideals, channelling their inspiration to socially useful purposes. They enable society to experience new truths, new visions, new sensitivity, or even new or radically different patterns of living. Rahu in the 10th house produces much social interaction with substantial gains. These experiences vivify the psycho-mental capabilities of the person but may make him or her somewhat unstable. The achievements and frustrations which inevitably both arise during their social and professional interactions teach them a sense of detachment. At this stage the ego is ready for psychic transformation, leading from a sense of utter desolation to a level of being at which they begin to surrender themselves completely to the unknown universal spirit.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 10th house and Ketu in the 4th: “This placement subjects the native to various extremes in life. The first half is usually full of unpleasant or psychic experiences. The 4th ouse relates to childhood (3 – 14 years old) which makes this the most difficult period leaving some scars on the natives psychological make-up. Mishandling on the part of parents, peers or elders in this period results in psychological disorders which influence their later years. With a strong Ketu they come out of these experiences even stronger. They will have a keen insight into the subconscious and a piercing and penetrating intellect. A weak Ketu will cause them to succumb to outside influences. Psychic powers are heightened with a strong Ketu in 4th, but a strong personality is required to harness these powers for the benefit of all. The fourth house is directly related with the universal mother principle and the precedes of Ketu can connect the native to the wellspring of wisdom and the core forces off creation. Relationship with parents is not usually very smooth but there can be a strong connection with one of the grandparents. Although one may receive financial support from them there are always misunderstandings. A strong psychic contact with the mother is seen, but it might not be very pleasant because of the extreme involved. This combination experiences the generation gap to the fullest degree. The sooner the native is separated from their parents, the better it is for both. This is a wonderful placement for making ones mark on the world. It gives the ability to head large organisations or undertakings. Many agree that this is the best placement for Rahu. The closer this Rahu is to the midheaven the more power it has to help the native. They are especially favoured in the second half of life  with a strong sense of purpose and destiny. Ketu in the moksha house gives an innate understanding of the primeval forces which create and sustain the manifest universe. In younger souls it gives an emotional and hypersensitive disposition. One has to check the excessive emotionalism and take a more practical approach to achieving one’s goals. An analogy to keep in mind is that the “earth needs to be watered just enough to raise the crops; more water leads to flooding and less water to drought. Rahu is said to bring positive changes in life at age 19, 38 & 42. This combination often requires sacrificing private life for public life. The native should guard against neglecting the 4th house affairs or else there is very little inner peace and contentment even after all the fame and glory. 10th house Rahu gives leadership qualities which can be used for person aggrandisement or for the benefit of one’s circle of influence. The presence of Ketu in the 4th gives strong attachment and knowledge of ones roots but Rahu in 10th makes it in an all inclusive manner.”
  • B.V. Raman: Rahu in the 10th house: “There is a tendency to lust after windows. He will be a skilled artist with a flare for poetry and literature. He travels widely and is learned. He will be famous and engage himself in business. He will have e limited issues. He will be bold and somewhat adventurous as he commits many sins.”

Rahu in Mula 11th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 11th house “grants the native prosperity, few children, longevity and ear ailments.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu in 11th house “native gains all kinds of things: happiness, honour from the king, clothes, gold, quadrupeds and victory. Wealth comes from trade relations with foreigners and this person will use any means to increase their profit. One may suffer diseases of the ear, difficulty with progeny, and elder brothers health is likely to suffer. Such a native is fond  of investing in shares, speculations, gambling, lottery and races.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 11th house and Ketu in the 5th is very powerful. It enables the person concerned to acquire physical and social conveniences and power. The are often members of the social elite. An aura or righteousness and morality surrounds them. In materially inclined persons these impulses are favourable for the acquisition of wealth, social and political status, and opportunities for disseminating spiritual and occult knowledge. Opportunities like these come in profession and may upset their personalities, making them vain, egotistical, and self opinionated. If they maintain their psychological balance, however, they may explore undiscovered laws of nature, clearly describe latent motives of others, and extensively externalise their own inner powers.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 11th house and Ketu in the 5th: “The analogy of the phoenix rising from the ashes usually holds true for natives with this placement. As often the case when Ketu is in the first half of the chart, the early life of the native is not very pleasant. Breaks in formal education as they don’t like it and may only go through it out of a sense of social obligation. When Ketu I strong here, they will have a penetrating and piercing intellect as Ketu’s disposition for learning is usually internalised. I have noticed that they usually pursue some form of mysticism either in an accepted way or purely personal. If the ascendant lord conjuncts this Ketu the native will choose platonic love over other forms. There is some sort of frustrations and disappointment encountered with love in adolescent years that makes the native harbour and negative feeling towards love in general. Ketu in 5th is not auspicious for having and raising progeny unless the fifth house is exceptionally strong and Jupiter is aspecting. In charts of female it denoted difficult child birth. Rahu in the 11th is supposed to fulfil most of ones desires in this lifetime. This is not always true and when it does happen, it’s late in life, after ones 40s. This Rahu makes the native ambitious and there is a distinct frustration noticed when their aims are not achieved. 11th house affairs — goals, aspirations, elder brothers, sources of gain, philanthropy, idealism, friends, sharing, group relationships, realisation of objectives — get highlighted. Elder brothers, if they exist, are a source of gain and vice versa provided other influences allow for it. Rahu in the 11th is a great bestower of material gains, but this has to be supported by other combinations in the chart. It is the natives karma to understand and work out the opposites of 5th & 11th like self consciousness & group consciousness, acquisition or resources & sharing of resources, personal ambition & humanitarian perspective. Friendship is a keynote of the lives of these natives, and any unnecessary selfishness needs to be avoided as those who can help him might put out if they see him acting in a selfish manner. Natives with this placement acquire a fortune by devious means and squander it is quickly on undesirable expenditures.”

Rahu in Mula 12th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Rahu in 12th house “makes a person always intent upon committing sinful deeds secretly, they spend a lot and suffer from ailments like dropsy etc.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Rahu 12th house gives “disease of the eyes, problems with the feet (especially left eye and left foot), makes him a deceitful trickster, affectionate and loving, having affection for wicked people, and giving service to ordinary people.” “This is not auspicious for economic development and one spend much of ones time in unproductive activity. There is the possibility of difficulties in travels, and the natives wife may be afflicted with illness.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 12th house and Ketu in the 6th produces an unusual and powerful impact, providing much psychic power and enormous physical strength to carry out a special mission in life. Sometimes these individuals are found living in abnormal or trying living conditions, but they produce extraordinary results. These results may be highly propitious or socially undesirable; this depends on the disposition of Rahu in the particular chart. These individuals are great organisers and leaders of large numbers of people. Their leadership may be along bizarre, abnormal, or non-conventional lines. When their psychic faculties weaken, these people feel baffled. It is of utmost imp[ortance that they are guided properly so that they can take advantage of their opportunities to gain deeper understanding of the laws of nature using their powers for constructive purpose.”
  • Prash Trivedi: Rahu in the 12th house and Ketu in the 6th: “This placement oscillates between opposite more often than other placements. There can be a thin line separating insanity & genius; paranoia &  self discovery. This can be a difficult combination to handle and there is usually a sense of fatness to life. Rahu highlights 12th house things: receptivity, negation, seclusion, destiny, past lives, karma, escapism, excessive indulgence, luxury, losses, expenses, charity, foreign affairs, limitations, imprisonment, connectivity with subtle planes, fantasy, paranoia, subconscious mind, dreams, visions, sorrow, renunciation, liberation. The 12th house becomes the main field of activity in the natives life and even very evolved souls have difficulty balancing this combination. It can give a taste for all kinds of intoxications, smoking is common, There is a desire to completely immerse the ego in the sea of illusions resulting from excessive indulgence. Usually a strong ascendant is the key to minimising the negative effects of this placement. It can give the native a taste for the supernatural and allow him to look far beyond the material realm of existence. It can also give knowledge of the ocean of Maya in which the divine play of life in played. In my view, half the problem is solved if the native can keep away from all types of drugs and alcohol and they should remain equally wary of blindly following religious orders or other types of institutions. Such natives have a tendency to end up as doctors, nurses, healers, mediums, preachers, counsellors, lawyers, social workers, politicians, detectives, law enforcement. Rahu in the 12th also gives some foreign connection relates to the significations of its depositor or plants associated with it. Ketu in the 6th is supposed to be a powerful force giving worldly riches and power. There is better chance of this coming true is Jupiter is associated with Ketu in some way. These natives tend to expect too much from those working under them. They are not good at taking orders and do not do well in 9 – 5 jobs. Independent enterprise is better for their mental well being. Most strange diseases and disorders can be found with this Ketu. They usually have no depth of enemies either by their own making or conferred by providence. How they deal with enemies differs based on other things in the chart, but diplomacy is not in the sphere of Ketu’s expertise. ^th house Ketu has very definite ideas about work ethics, purity and morality and there is a tendency to pass judgement and impose one’s ideas on others. Their strong will power helps them achieve their desires sooner or later; but they must guard against over extending their energy. Tehy need to strike a balance between 6th house and 12th house.”

They are often global citizens with very busy travel schedules (especially when Ketu is in the 1st or 2nd pada which puts Rahu in Mrigasirsha. They can also be warlike and ambivalent to the chaos that comes from their actions.

Ketu in Mula 1st house:

  • Phala Deepika: ”The person with Sagittarius ascendant at birth will have a long neck and face with large nose and ears. He will always keep himself in some work or the other. He will be self-sacrificing and eloquent in speech. He will be short of stature. He will be courageous and will overcome his enemies. He will be wealthy and the favourite of the king, He can be won over by persuasion and kindness.”
  • Parashara: ”[They] have a well-proportioned and well-developed body.
  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 1st house “makes a person always suffer from ingratitude, remain unhappy, and carry tales against others. He is an outcaste, fallen from his position, disabled, keeping company with the wicked.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 1st house “native is a maker of cotton threads, sickly and diseased, distressed, troubled with fear, worried about his wife, agitated, perturbed, and suffering from windy diseases. Head aches and brain disease is possible, suffering caused by wicked people.”

Ketu in Mula 2nd house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 2nd house “deprives the native of good education and riches. His language is foul and he has a sinister look. He depends on others for food.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 2nd house “brings loss of wealth, opposition against own men, disease of the mouth. Loss of wealth due to punishment of the king. Loss of grain due top theft and birds. The native get refuge with great difficulty in his time of need. If Ketu is in his own sign, or sign of a benefic friend, the native gets very much happiness. According to BPHS Ketu is exalted in Taurus, moola trikona in Cancer, and ruler of Virgo. Phala Deepika say Ketu is strong in the later half of Taurus, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces.”

Ketu in Mula 3rd house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 3rd house “promotes longevity, strength, wealth and fame. The native lives happy with his wife and enjoys good food. He loses a brother.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 3rd house “brings about the destruction of the natives enemies, disputes and quarrels, gains of wealth, a luxurious life, obtainment of grandeur, dignity and an increase in energy. They also see the destruction of their own men and pain in their arm. This Ketu generally give auspicious effects. Vigour and valour will rise up very quickly. But they will have a lot of worries. If this Ketu is exalted of in own sign the native get fear, agitation and happiness.”

Ketu in Mula 4th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 4th house “destroys land, vehicle, mother and happiness. He is made to leave his native place and is made to live in a foreign land at the mercy of others.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 4th house “gives loss of happiness from mother and friends, losses through the father and they have no brothers. If Ketu is in own or exalted sign they get happiness for a short time, but remains full of worries and anxiety. If this Ketu is afflicted by additional malefic the mother suffers greatly and one has disputes over land. They live in an atmosphere of quarrels and disputes.”

Ketu in Mula 5th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 5th house “makes the person suffer the loss of children, stomach ailments, haunted by evil spirits. They are evil minded, wicked and sinful.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 5th house “causes wounds to the stomach, from windy disease or from falling, and surgical procedure may be necessary. The person is dear to siblings, has a righteous mind, few children and is wealthy strong, and vigorous. They make quick decisions, ideas flash in their mind. Favourably placed this Ketu can bring great luck, gain through shares or lottery.”

Ketu in Mula 6th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 6th house makes “a person very magnanimous, embodying the best of human qualities, firms and fame. He will possess high authority, destroy his enemies and fulfil his ambition.” “Danger from ulcer.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in the 6th houses “brings the destruction of a persons enemies, happiness from animals, gain of wealth, no disease of the body, but disrespect with relatives on mother’s side.” “Ketu in the 6th is very auspicious, due to which the native is dear and loved by brothers, is generous with good qualities, is famous and gets reputation and prestige due to learning and education.”
These natives should avoid making too much of 6th house things like diseases, servants, enemies as there is a tendency to unnecessarily dwell on these topics. Most strange diseases and disorders can be found with this Ketu. They usually have no depth of enemies either by their own making or conferred by providence. How they deal with enemies differs based on other things in the chart, but diplomacy is not in the sphere of Ketu’s expertise.6th house Ketu has very definite ideas about work ethics, purity and morality and there is a tendency to pass judgement and impose one’s ideas on others. Their strong will power helps them achieve their desires sooner or later; but they must guard against over extending their energy. Tehy need to strike a balance between 6th house and 12th house.”

Ketu in Mula 7th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 7th house “causes a person to be disrespected, live in the company of wicked women, suffer from disease of the bowels, lose wife and vital power.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 7th house “gives fear during travel, and enemies destroy ones wealth. If in Scorpio, conditions are always profitable but wife gets troubled, worries, anxiety, and expenditures are ever increasing. Wife suffers headaches and sudden physical troubles. This Ketu is not considered auspicious; travel in Ketu periods tend to be fruitless and expensive.”
  • Bepin Behari: “Rahu in the 1st house and Ketu in the 7th intensifies the material urges of the individual. It drives one to seek prosperity, personal prowess, greater work skills, higher social status, and to leave ones mark on society. Yet these individuals fair to satisfy their thirst completely.

Ketu in Mula 8th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 8th house “native will be short lived, remain separated from his dear friends and engage in feuds, be injured by a weapon and meet with disappointments in all efforts.” “Danger from ulcer.” “Unnatural death like suicide or association as a result of the hatred of enemies, or through worms.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 8th house person. “If in Cancer, Virgo, Gemini, the native has disease of the anus but gains wealth from conveyances. If in Aries, Taurus, or Scorpio they will see exceptional gains of wealth. If associated with any other malefic they will suffer piles or fistula, money lent out is not returned, and despite their love and affection for animals will be bitten or injured by them.”
They may grow interested in occult sciences as they become increasingly aware of the immense psychophysical possibilities inherent in the process of expending their consciousness.”
  • Commentary: Part of the problem here is that Rahu in 2nd tells lies which creates a ripe situation for many revelations. It can bring many random sexual partners. I suspect that someone like Temminick might have many children in an attempt to populate the world with his blood line. This could create numerous illegitimate children with numerous random women. It’s possible that the massive hidden wealth he accumulated felt like a never ending abyss. The abroad is without limits. And possibly no limits to the kinds of taboos that “no limits” Ketu  allowed him to explore.

Ketu in Mula 9th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 9th house “makes a person take a sinful course, commit unrighteous acts, and be deprived of father. They are unfortunate, poverty stricken and speak ill of good people.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 9th house “releases the person from their troubles, gives happiness from son, rise of fortune through foreigners, distress or diseases of the arm. Blessings from doing penance, religious activities and giving alms.”
  • Commentary: This Ketu is not conducive for a long life. Hug was in his 30’s; proust was 51, Bernardo is imprisoned for life but still kicking at 57.

Ketu in Mula 10th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 10th house “makes a person have to overcome great obstacles in order to do any good act, or he may himself be responsible for the obstacles. He is impure and engages in evil deeds. He is energetic, wise and reputed.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 10th house “native is devoid of happiness from father, destroys enemies despite being unfortunate oneself. Conveyances get wear and tear and one suffers from windy diseases. Trouble from horse back riding. Ketu in Virgo 10th house makes a person happy and wealthy. Aries, Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio is good for gains.”
  • B.V. Raman: Ketu in the 10th house: “The native will be strong, bold and well known. He will commit vile deeds, be impure in his resolve, and face many obstacles in his undertakings. He will be very clever. If benficially disposed the native will be happy, religious, well read in scripture and visit many pilgrimage places and sacred rivers.”

Ketu in Mula 11th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 11th house “makes a person hoard money, possess many noble qualities, enjoy himself well, and gives every opportunity to collect good materials and be successful in achieving all desires.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 11th house makes the “native sweet spoken and excitable, they get good education, has charming appearance, is voluptuous, vigorous, valorous, wears beautiful clothes, but suffers disease of the anus and unhappiness from children. In own sign aspected by benefits this Ketu can give quick gain, much wealth and give success in all objectives.”

Ketu in Mula 12th house:

  • Phala Deepika: Ketu in 12th house native “commits sinful deeds secretly and squanders away his wealth on vile things. He destroys his wealth and is of questionable conduct suffering from ailments of the eyes.”
  • Jataka Bharnam: Ketu in 12th house “gives trouble to feet and eyes, heavy expenses, destruction of enemies, lacks desire for happiness, and suffers disease to the anus and loins. The native might not have wealth but will spend money lavishly.”
The perception of higher realities now becomes more meaningful to them then the enjoyment of physical comforts and social acclaim.
