Note: As usual, this is a very limited view of how these transits are likely to affect you and the world around you. Many factors need to be considered when giving a forecast: the effects of the other planets in the houses and in relation to each other as well as their relation to your own individual birth chart. If you are interested in a more complete reading, please feel free to contact Mike at holliday.michael@gmail.com

Rahu in Leo 3rd house

Rahu generally likes being in the 3rd house of effort; Rahu is good at effort because he’ll do anything to get what he wants. The third house is the first house of the Kama Trikona (desire trine) and of course Rahu represents our strongest desires; those uncontrollable urges that we find extremely difficult suppress. Rahu brings us into our future with these urges by creating karmic situations that we have no choice but to deal with. In Leo, Rahu seeks recognition, he becomes very active and creative. In the third house he brings us into groups and seeks opportunities for net working and communication. He wants to lead whether he’s ready or fit for leadership or not. The 3rd house also represents the arms and hands of Kal Purusha so it shows where we reach out to the world; Rahu’s involvement could cause us to reach out for our illusions. By the time Rahu completes his transit of Leo we could come to realize just how clouded our efforts were; however by this time it’s too late and we will have to deal with the karmic implications of our efforts.

From 3rd house Leo, Rahu looks at 7th house Sagittarius and 11th house Aries. These are the other two houses of desire. The 7th house is our desire to connect with others whether thru contract of committed relationship. Rahu will of course increase this desire. It becomes difficult to look within when Rahu is involved with this triangle of desire. His influence on 7th house could cause us to get involved in relationships or contracts that don’t serve us; “the other” receives out attention as we negate our personal needs which is indicated by Ketu’s look on our 1st house. Rahu’s look on the 11th house will again involve us with others; this time with our friends in hopes that we can belong to the class of Aries people who don’t like to waste time getting what they want.

Spiritually, 3rd house can be a difficult location for Rahu, but he will help us to get what we want and propel us forward into new and exciting realms. After all, what wrong with wanting to connect with others, create with our hands and share those creations with others so that we can profit.

Ketu in 9th house

Ketu in the 9th house can restrict our faith in God while at the same time providing us with the dress and look of one who believes. This tension is often apparent to others who might laugh at our beliefs and our faith. On account of Ketu’s look at the 1st house we likely won’t care what others think of us. Ketu is, of course, a body without a head: ever satisfied, seeking nothing, and thinking nothing. Mystics believe Ketu to be the only truly spiritual planet allowing for peace of mind and past life abilities to rise to the surface without effort. With this in mind, we could discover some of our past life talents relating to 9th house and Aquarius (law, religion, luck, sublime thought, etc). His look on the 5th house will limit creative production, restrict our relationship with our children, and generally put us in a situation where we don’t much care one way or the other if we produce anything or not. This does not mean we will not create anything, it merely means that we have no attachment to the results.

The danger of Ketu lies in giving over his power to the more active and more desirous Rahu. We risk taking our beliefs from small working groups or those who are younger than us; those for whom we are supposed to stand as mentor. In a way, Ketu 9th house can make us into a spokes person for the beliefs of others.

Jupiter 3rd house Leo (conjunct Rahu)

What good can come when Jupiter, the guru, is being corrupted by the underhanded out-caste who desires only to help himself. Guru Chandal Yoga occurs whenever Jupiter is conjunct Rahu. Add to this Jupiter’s retrograde motion until the end of April and your get plans (and effort in this case) not only straying off course by fate, but actually straying off course by ones own willful effort. Jupiter will regain some of his power when he turns direct again, but he will still have the miserable out-caste Rahu to deal with.

Jupiter will be looking at the 7th, 9th, and 11th houses. His look will not be a corrupted as the house he is living with Rahu, but there will still be some Rahu influence on each other these houses. His look at the 7th house should be beneficial in regards to partnerships since Sagittarius, Jupiter’s own sign, is here for Gemini ascendants. Look for greater expansiveness in 7th house matters. This could mean an expended role in your life from your partners, or it could bring more partners into your life. Jupiter’s look at the 9th house will also be beneficial since Jupiter in the Karaka for the 9th house even though in this case his enemy Saturn owns 9th house thru his rulership of Aquarius. In any case, Jupiter will be taking care that law and order prevail despite Ketu’s negating influence here. His look at the 11th house should also be beneficial for our friendship (expending their scope) as well as for our profits and gains. Rahu and Jupiter will be working together in a strong way to help us realize our hopes, we just need to ensure that our mind stays clear and focused on attaining them in a positive manner without hurting or alienating those we love.

Saturn in 6th house Scorpio

For Gemini, Saturn becomes the karaka for 9th house luck and faith as well as 8th house of hidden treasures and sudden events. He brings these influences to the 6th house of obstacles, debt and disease. As owner of a bad house living in a bad house Saturn forms Vipreet Raja Yoga and has the power to destroy the negative indications of both 6th and 8th. Vipreet Raja becomes all the stronger when he lives with the owner of the house he is in, therefore, when Mars comes into Scorpio it could bring nice gain from our enemies and obstacles. Mars in 6th house Scorpio will certainly give us the will to fight our enemies and win. But the combination of two naturally malefic enemies living together is sure to bring some frustration. But Mars in his own house is sure to overcome Saturn’s resistance.

Saturn will be looking at his own 8th house, the 12th house, and the 3rd house. His look at the 8th house will likely influence him to look for hidden treasures in jungly untamed places. He also restricts death for Gemini natives which is a good thing for most people, but for those deep in suffering this influence will only prolong the suffering. Saturn’s look at the 12th house which will also receive a look from Mars for a great deal of the time Saturn transits Scorpio will likely cause a great deal of wasteful expenditure as one seeks escape from their problems or the problems of the world. Such escapes will likely only serve as a source of greater frustration rather than acting as a solution for anything. It’s Saturn’s look on the 3rd house, Rahu and Jupiter that could prove most malicious in motivating effort. Watch your heath, your expenditure and your efforts for signs of sorrow. It could be a very good time to become aware of the ways of Saturn. Some of his negative effects can be mitigated by reading “The Greatness of Saturn” or following other remedial measures for Saturn.

Transits for Taurus in early 2016

I’ve tried to limit my forecast to the four slow moving planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu), while also highlighting the sign change of Rahu and Ketu. I have occasionally mentioned a few of the other transits that will be effecting things, but this evaluation is none the less far from complete. If you’re interested in a more complete reading please contact me with your date, time and place of birth.

Rahu & Jupiter in Leo

As Rahu moves into the 4th house of Leo for Taurus ascendant or those with moon in Taurus, he will bring his clouded ways into your home and your happiness, affecting your mood and possibly your mother’s health. Rahu’s new drishti on 8th and 12th houses could add some overseas or foreign travel to your itinerary over the next 18 months, but he can also cause problems from sudden or unexpected events and/or wasteful expenditure. His conjunction with the retrograde owner of 8th house Sagittarius (Jupiter) could prove especially malefic due to his very power control over Jupiter. Guru Chandal Yoga corrupts the guru, the teacher, the counselor; it must affect even more when Guru is walking backwards (retro) as he will be until April. Some might take comfort that Jupiter is also giving a positive look to overseas and foreign travel.

Jupiter in Leo

I’ve written elsewhere about the negative effects on Jupiter in the 4th house when Rahu conjoins him there in January, but Jupiter will still be showering his benevolence on the 8th house which could allow for some new discoveries in the home, while his look on the 12th house could open up some fresh expenditure perhaps for charity or perhaps for the expansion in the home that could suddenly seem to be going awry.

Saturn in Scorpio

Saturn will be in 7th house Scorpio for Taurus people. He will be looking at the 9th, 1st, and 4th houses. His main activity will be to delay partnerships and give a strong commitment to them when he does move into one. A owner of the 9th and 10th house he could bring both a working relationship to partnerships as well as cooperation regarding law and spirituality. His look on the 9th house is likely to have the effect of strengthening ones religious resolve, while his look on the first house could cause some health problems and perhaps even causing people to view your personality as being a bit rigid. Once Rahu moves into Leo at the end of January, his look will come off the 1st house which is certain to be positive for the health, though Saturn may still cause some suffering. Saturn’s look at the forth house and Rahu and Jupiter who are transiting the 4th house is likely to cause difficulties in the home and could affect your mothers health. By the 24th of February when the full moon conjoins Rahu and Jupiter there is sure to be a situation for sadness (Saturn), frustration (Rahu) and feelings of helplessness as moon rules the 3rd house of efforts. Jupiter is helpless in this situation and even worse, he could be offering corrupt self serving advice just as Dronacharya (the guru) did to Eklavya (the out-caste student) when he told him to cut off his own thumb.

Ketu in Aquarius

Ketu in Aquarius (10th house for Taurus people) will negate your career and reputation. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t have a career, it just won’t feel like it matters to you at this time. Your occupation could be feeling routine and perhaps bringing with it some boredom as as though you’ve perhaps outgrown it. Of course while the Sun transits Aquarius from mid-February to mid-March with Mars looking on from the seventh house, the conditions will be ripe for explosive situations to occur in you career, occupation, or just in the public sphere. Changes to 10th house affairs could certainly occur quickly. Ketu will be looking at you 2nd house restricting your savings (perhaps even cutting into it while Mars transits Scorpio and Sagittarius since the 2nd house will be getting drishti from Ketu and Mars both during this period. Ketu’s drishti on the 6th house Libra is a time to take special care of your health since Ketu’s influence could cause you to disregard symptoms that could be pointing to more serious issues. You might also be disinclined to end contacts or partnerships at this time despite difficult and frustrations posed by Mars coming conjunct with Saturn in Scorpio. If you do decide to complete some contract, it likely won’t be anything you loose sleep over.

March 2016 Notes

A solar eclipse takes place on March 6th and then a few days later the moon goes dark. On March 9th, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Ketu will all be in Aquarius (the 10th house for Taurus Ascendent) for the new moon. Rahu and Jupiter (still retro, sill Guru Chandal Yoga) will be look across from Leo, and Mars will be giving his 4th look while conjunct Saturn in Scorpio. This marks a first rate planetary war in the 10th house Aquarius. Saturn is the only planet that will not have direct influence on the 10th house but will be causing a restricting/delaying effect to partnerships and contracts that is likely to cause frustration considering he’s conjunct his enemy Mars in Mars’ own house. The good news is that Mars, being in his own house, should be able to over come the difficulties. Saturn is also a Raja yoga Karika for Taurus ascendant bringing luck and occupation into whatever house he transits. Be prepared to do some work on your relationships at this time. With all those planets in 10th house we can expect fights over leadership and possibly a change of occupation. Since the 10th is 12th from the 11th your friendships are also likely to get shuffled. It’s perhaps one of those times when we discover who our real friends are.

Highlights for the 2016 natural horoscope

Highlights for the 2016 natural horoscope, Aries rising

Results and predictions For Aries Lagna (or Moon in Aries)

Rahu in Leo & Ketu in Aquarius (January 29th, 2016)

Mars in Scorpio (February 20 – June 17, 2016)

Jupiter Retrograde (January 7- May 9, 2016)

Jupiter conjunct Rahu

Satrun in Scorpio

Note:For Aries people and countries, the time around the full moon on February 24th and the solar eclipse on March 9th 2016 could be especially difficult. I think it’s fair to say that we can expect a major world event to take place around this time, perhaps a kind of one two punch that could have significant effects effects throughout the world.

Rahu 5th house Leo

Rahu enters the 5th house of creation and intellect. You will want to be recognized for your creative capacity and productivity. The fact that Rahu does not necessarily deserve recognition is how problems will arise. Rahu’s desire does not always match his capacity; he want’s too much so he’ll break the rules to get it. By this token he very well might get the recognition he wants, but he will always suffer for it in some way. Be careful with acting like a dirty politician or a poor sport. With the sun six houses away at the time Rahu moves into 5th house Leo, disruption in your productive capacity is sure to be disturbed, especially late January early February, but possibly until mid-april when the sun once again enters Aries and finds a strong seat.

Rahu’s look at your 9th house can cloud your belief system for the next 18 months. You could change your beliefs in order to rationalize some behaviour, or perhaps merely be a hypocrite. His look at your 1st house could add a bit of dirtiness to your personality, perhaps affecting your health as well. Watch for fevers and wounds, maybe a bit of mental confusion or intellectual error that could cause you to go astray.

Ketu in 11th house Aquarius

Ketu will have a restrictive or negating influence on friendships and gains. Old friendships could be lost while new ones from unlikely places emerge. This will certainly affect 3rd house networking and 7th house of partnerships and contracts. Desire’s could be restricted since Ketu is sitting in and looking at the Kama triangle (houses of desire). This could have a spiritualizing influence on Aries people, or it could mean that they just have bigger worries. When Mars goes into direct aspect of Ketu in February before moving into Scorpio to give Ketu and sun his 4th aspect, it could signify an explosive situation regarding partnerships and contracts which will certainly affect the 11th house of gains.

Mars in Scorpio (February 20 – June 17, 2016)

Mars’ entry into 8th house Scorpio , though generally positive, is likely to cause some frustration to Saturn who is powerfully advanced in the house. The hardest effect might be felt in the second house receiving the aspects of Saturn and Mars ( malefic and mutual enemies): it could be a very difficult time for savings accounts and other liquid assets. Mar’s look on Sun and Ketu together will bring a lot of heat into the 11th house. Hopes and gains could suddenly be lost; friendships could come to an end. By the rather poor condition of the three houses aspected by Mars (the 11th, 2nd, and 3rd), there is likely to be difficulties with communication, reaching out and moving forward.Mars – Saturn conjunction in the 8th house certainly points to some secret or sudden activity that could be the source of great changes. Since Mars will be in his own house, it’s likely he’ll be able to restore order and perhaps champion us towards positive change. Mars is likely to cause Saturn to worry about his 10th house signification, namely occupation, but this should remain strong; labour is always needed.

Jupiter – Rahu conjunction in Leo 5th house

Jupiter may not have the power to confer his blessing on Rahu or the 5th house since he is retrograde (January 7- May 9, 2016) and just a few degrees in front or Rahu. My impression is that he is being chased by the enemy, outcaste planet Rahu even in the house of the Sun (5th house Leo). It seems a little disgraceful to me but I’m not certain how to take it. Jupiter will surely get retribution when he turns direct and conjuncts Rahu at the end of June 2016 before moving on to Virgo. Jupiter will once again be free of Guru Chandal yoga limiting his blessings.

Vedic astrology can offer some unique guidance on your path through both subtle and active means in you are willing to do the work.

Aries

Jupiter’s exaltation in your 4th house of home is creating some expansion of your home environment. This could be anything from home renovation to bringing a child into the home, or perhaps even a new roommate. Ketu’s look at the 4th house could support some uncommon occurrences in the home; some of which could keep the home expansion in check and restrict your expenditures. Jupiter will also be adding certain kind of respectability to your expenses; but your ego could also be heavily influencing where you are putting your time, money and energy.

It could be a difficult year for health with Saturn in your 8th house and Rahu in the 6th. Rahu could bring some acute illnesses, but he could also drive you to learn about and improve your health. Saturn may provide some incentive by giving you some fear that the relatively minor illnesses of gifted by Rahu cold turn into something more chronic. And we’re human, so this is always a possibility. Take care of your health, especially after Jupiter takes his benevolent look away from Saturn and your 8th and 12th houses in July.

2015 Transit indications for finance are not great for Aries and you could be facing some unexpected tasks at work that could mean working longer hours. Although these extra hours might not translate into extra pay, you might enjoy the work and receive some other kind of recognition. After Jupiter moves to Leo in July, you could experience some gain in wealth and/or knowledge.

Emotionally, the first half of 2015 should be accompanied by a happy feeling of contentment and satisfaction. You might even get on peoples nerves with your emotional self-satisfaction, especially since this feeling will be accompanied by some mental tension concerning your health and long-term security. After July it’s likely you’ll see yourself come back down to earth emotionally from some kind of learning or knowledge you will collect.

Despite the difficulties and tensions you will be facing, all of 2015 should be a lucky year for you. Your luck will be served by your emotions in the first half of the year while your mind will be lucky for you in the second half.

Taurus

Your efforts will bear uncommon fruit. Look for some kind of spiritual metaphysical gain rather than hard currency, though with exalted Jupiter looking at his own 11th house it’s a good time for wealth too; especially the period before Jupiter makes his move in July. In the first half of the year, Jupiter will be expanding your efforts in unique and noble areas, but excessive pride from these efforts is also likely.

Saturn in your 7th house could be centering your fears around your relationships these days. This could cause you to question your path and yourself. Some friction in the home is also possibility. When Jupiter moves to Leo in July, some illness to your partner is a possibility. However with Jupiter moving into your 4th house, your home could be seeing some expansion, which could indicate children, but it could just as easily indicate some new ritual that is brought into the home.

Rahu will influence indulgent risk taking (gambling and love affairs and such), but it’s not a good time for gain from such things. Your mind will be feeling sharp and you’ll grasp things quickly and move on to the next. It’s up to you where you direct your mind. This could function as mental acumen or stress which cold have either positive or negative effect on your luck and personality.

Rahu and Saturn combined aspect on your ascendant in 2015 could cause some ailments which will arise with the movement of Venus as she makes her way to Scorpio by year’s end. If you have children, they could also be causing you some grief by their efforts.

Gemini

Jupiter is in an excellent position for long term prosperity, saving, land investment and such. Ketu is giving his unusual touch to this and his influence could mean you pick some new routine that ensures long health of body and mind. But some kind of long-term financial prosperity is likely until Jupiter moves to Leo in July; at which point you may begin to use this new prosperity to fun your efforts for even greater gain.

You might feel like you’re wasting your money on your home right now. Perhaps rent is too high or tedious repairs are adding up. It’s likely everyone in the home is busy these days returning only for pragmatic purposes. On the other hand, Rahu’s look at 8th and 12th house opens the possibility for foreign travel.

Saturn in your 6th house means you have to watch out for small illnesses, which could hamper your health, especially after July when Jupiter takes his look away from Saturn. Some wasteful spending is also indicated this year by Saturn’s look at your 12th house.

Jupiter’s exaltation might cause you to idealize your partner and all of 2015 should be a good year for love and business partnerships if they can measure up to your ideal.

Cancer

With Jupiter exalted in your sign the only thing you have to watch out for is your own inflated ego. Jupiter is an excellent position to show off your personality. Ketu’s look at your first house could add a touch of uniqueness to your personality, or he could restrict the natural expression of your personality. Your luck and your mind will also be experiencing the benefits of Jupiter’s location in your chart for the first half of the year.

After Jupiter moves into Leo, he’ll begin to give some positive influence to your savings and long-term investments. Your career should also see a boost, along with your health. All of 2015 is a good period to focus on eating healthier.

Ketu in your 9th house with Jupiter’s look in the first half of the year could set you on an uncommon path in life. Some unusual spirituality could also come up in this period.

Saturn could be interfering with your long term prosperity for now, but when Jupiter moves into your 2nd house these issues will mostly fade away in the broader perspective, though Saturn will continue to disturb your gains. Rahu could act as a counter balance in this regard, but gains and acquaintances will likely come from the wrong side of the tracks. It could be a difficult period for your mother, your children, and your younger brother.

Rahu will be making it hard to focus your efforts this month. You could be starting things without finishing them, or merely spreading your effort so thin that nothing gets accomplished. If Rahu is positive for your chart or you’re in a positive dasha period Rahu could help you complete the multitude of effort and bring very nice gain.

Leo

With Jupiter exalted in your 12th house until July, you may be feeling rather generous in gifting your time and/or money to charities or some cause you believe in. Ketu’s look on Jupiter is likely to add a touch of the unusual to whichever cause you choose to support. This same unusual effect of Ketu will be affecting your secret hobbies; your guilty pleasure will likely turn a little strange this year, but I wont tell anyone if you don’t. By Jupiter it’s likely that you will become involved with what is foreign to you (this could happen in your own country, or you could go somewhere for the experience) The second half of the year indicates some kind of pilgrimage travel.

Saturn will be having a negative effect on your home and home-happiness, which will be noticeable in your personality to those who know you. Jupiter will hold things together with his watchful eye until he moves in July, but be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride in your home life for the second half of the year. If Saturn, Mars or the moon is negatively affected but strong in your chart this year, you could experience some fear and sadness.

The good news is that Jupiter’s entrance into Leo in July will open the doors for better luck, broader thinking, and a more congenial personality. Life will certainly feel better. As karaka for wealth he will be causing some disturbance to your own bottom-line during his stay in your 12th house. After July, expenditure should go down allowing you to better accumulate wealth. Saturn and Rahu will both be influencing long hours and hard work. Some chance of a career change is also possible this year.

Virgo

Jupiter in your 11th house for the first part of the year should bring in some nice gain in fame, or knowledge, or even money depending on your own ideals. This gain is likely to come by way of your home and from pursuing your own deeper happiness. Some unusual relationship will also be influencing this gain. After Jupiter moves to your 12th house on July 22, you will experience an increase in your expenditure. It could be just the tax-man knocking for his share or you could be feeling charitable. In any case, your spending could be increasing your ego. Saturn could be providing the discipline to reign in your expenditures, but try to save something for a rainy day.

You could be a little lazy and contrary in your physical efforts while perhaps finding the dedication to continue with your longer term creative efforts in a stoic sort of way. It could a good year for meditation, but depending on your chart (on your own personality) you could feel some mental stagnancy.

You could face some problems with your father in 2015 and with your younger brother in the second half of the year. Your partner could be picking up some strange habits, and if you’re just starting out in a new relationship people could be laughing a little at your choice; by the end of July you may start understanding why.

You could find yourself becoming quite indulgent in the second half of the year; some criminal tendencies could arise. You need to be careful as your luck is also not so good. It should generally be a good year for your mother and older brother.

Libra

The first half of the year will be difficult financially gains will be less and even saving could go down while expenses are high. The good news is that it’s unlikely you will go into debt and some and your biggest expense could be the paying off of your debt. When Jupiter moves to Leo in the second half of the year, your gains are likely to improve, but you have to be careful that you are not increasing your income by increasing you debt again. Jupiter’s position in your 10th house in the first part of the year could get you a promotion or some other agreeable position of influence. The expanded duties could come with some benefits for long term security but it’s unlikely to be accompanied by a raise.

Be careful of colds and flus that are going around as you may be susceptible this year; especially for illnesses affecting the nasal and the stomach. In the second half of the year, there’s also some chance of an accident to your foot depending on the situation of Ketu and Jupiter in your chart; it might also be a good time to visit the dentist as Saturn could affect your teeth.

It could be a good year to make contact with older people of influence. And amongst your peers, you may take some classes for to improve your health (Ketu’s influence in your 6th house will attract you to holistic and alternative methods) or to rise in your occupation. And if you already have high position in your occupation, it’s a good year for teaching what you know.

Scorpio

Saturn could be afflicting your health, especially your knees, but you should take care of all the joints of your body these days. Some stomach problems are also likely to come up. Saturn’s influence in your first house could cause you to restrict your personality somehow. Perhaps you’ll go out a little less, or merely keep silent if you are out. Scorpios need to be aware of their partners (romantic liaisons, marriage and business partners) as all the houses in this regard are afflicted. The 7th house has Rahu and Saturn looking at it which could cause some illness to your partners. These same two planets have your 12th house hemmed in giving a negative effect to your night-time pleasures which includes everything from sex to sleep and other secrets of the night. Jupiter could however be giving you an indulgent sense of romance which could either be offset by Ketu’s constrictive nature or heightened by his strangeness.

Jupiter is in a very good place for pilgrimage travel until July. He will also be adding a bit of a golden touch to your effort which is being sustained by Jupiter. The whole year will be a good for making effort to do the things you want to do, and until July you can expect a bit of mind-expanding influence as well. After July Jupiter will move into Scorpio’s 10th house creating a big expansion of your occupation. Perhaps some training duties or some other noble task will come your way. In any case, you should see a rise in your ling term wealth and prosperity in 2015.

Ketu could be giving your some strange ideas this year; others will find it especially strange that you don’t even recognize the strangeness. This will reflect on your personality. Rahu should be happy in the 11th house of gains since he’s happy with almost everything.

Sagittarius

Jupiter is in an excellent position for overseas travel, but it could relate poorly to your personality. Some unexpected money could also come your way in the first part of the year. Jupiter will still be in a very good position when he moves to Leo in July. Travel is still highlighted by this Jupiter, and though you could remain far from home, you may not be going overseas.

Saturn in your 12th house could be a wasteful time. Your actions (and even purchases) will likely cost much more than you expect. Although you can enjoy your time and travels by Jupiter, Saturn is warning against travelling to anywhere too foreign.

You may find your time well occupied with several different jobs going on at the same time. It could be a good time to take a service job to provide a little extra security. Ketu on the other hand could be restricting your enjoyment of all this activity. In any case, it will leave you question the result.

Capricorn

Jupiter is in an excellent position for you partner, wife/husband, business partner and other such people; but since Jupiter is looking at your 11th house, he could provide some gain for you as well. After Jupiter moves to Leo in July, it could become more the case that these people fund your expenditures than directly afford you gain. Jupiter will also be expanding your desires while Ketu adds his unusual touch to your efforts. Since Jupiter in also looking at your 1st house, he could also cause some friction between you and your partner since Jupiter and Saturn are not friends. On the other hand, this look could help you see a general rise in status.

Saturn in your 11th house cold have you trying to achieve wickedly materialistic hopes this year, and though you could make some progress in the first half of the year, once Jupiter takes his eye off this house you could find yourself facing disappointment. With Rahu and Saturn both looking at your 5th house you could find your creative productivity in a slump. Lack of inspiration could result.

Rahu will be adding some mystery to your personality as well as your mind. Even friends may question if they have you figured out as they thought. Some bad luck could come about in a way that forces you to believe in the occult and perhaps even seek remedies from this field.

Aquarius

Rahu will be influencing a strong interest in astrology and the occult, overseas travel and pretty much anything foreign. With Saturn in your 10th house disturbing your occupation as well as your reputation, and the two of them (Rahu and Saturn) looking at your 4th house, it’s a very good time to travel. Changing jobs is also a possibility; especially in the second half of the year. The good news is that there is a very good chance of gain as well as long-term prosperity from a partnership of group activities in the second part of the year.

Saturn’s disruption of your public profile could reflect in your home and partnership as well as your expenditure. Saturn often forces us to consider the strength of our commitments. Often times it’s a question of following our duty or following our heart, and although the virtues of the heart path are widely extoled, neither path is really any better than the other.

Jupiter in your sixth house could be giving you an interest in learning about your health or otherwise using knowledge to defeat your enemies. Long term gain from this action is to be expected. You could be following unusual eating habits this year as well; perhaps trying out different diets as you seek better health.

Pisces

Jupiter is in an excellent position for student of anyone trying to expand his or her mind. Ketu look on Jupiter in the 5th house could stimulate some very unique thinking, but there’s some chance in this new way of thinking becoming a little too unique in the second half of the year. Some health problems in the first part of the year could cause you to seek a solution in the second half of the year. You could also start feeling forced to do service which is below you after July.

And don’t be surprised if people find your personality a little strange after July, chance could bing some strange circumstances for you to deal with, and along with the broad mind you will be sporting the first half of the year, the second half of the year could prove interesting for Pisces. Ketu could bring in some new age touch to your personality, but you have to be careful of the excesses desire being provided by Rahu.

Saturn can bring you some expenditure by bad luck, but also provide some gain through hard luck. You have to watch out for making some dirty effort for material gain; you could find yourself tempted (perhaps by a co-conspirator). You could face issues with your father of coworkers.

End note: Once again I would like to highlight the inaccuracies of these general horoscopes. I have not taken retrograde motion, degree, nakshatra or many other things that affect the transits into account in these horoscopes. Even in regards to sign placement, conjunction, and aspect, which I have begun accounting for in these horoscopes, my descriptions are far from exhaustive in regards to the possibilities. When we further consider that I have not taken your personal chart into consideration at all, we can consider these horoscopes to be little more than good fun; perhaps just an introduction. In any case, if you’re interested in getting more serious about astrology, please let me know. And of course if you have any questions or comments feel free to post them or address me thru e-mail.

Astrological remedies: How they work and the mechanism of action

A friend recently asked me how the stones or whatever remedies work? I partially answered this question in a previous blog post, but I wanted to give a more direct answer to this question.

I have been studying astrology for only a few years. I’ve always had a skeptical rational mind. Most of my life I rejected things like astrology. I was quite attached to the idea of free will and the thought that my life was entirely my own: either I’d make it or break it by my own will and my own effort.

But then of course I came to India and started studying the philosophy and the vedic culture. Through my yoga practice I began to recognize more and more how little control I actually had over the events in my life. I suppose to put in yogaly, the more I identified with the witness, the less I identified as the doer of my actions. But of course one has to wonder who (or what is the doer)? Who (or what) is the enjoyer of the actions if I am a mere witness?

Then I started looking into astrology. There’s no need to explain how I found it to be very accurate and very easy to learn if you have the sort of mind that appeals to hard logic (I finally discovered the use of those symbolic logic classes I took in college).

In astrology we are mostly looking at the kinds of energies represented by the planets and the houses and the signs and the Nakshatras and such. These are the same archetypical energies that Ayurveda and yoga and sankya and Tantra use to understand the world. The principles are all the same.

After all these years studying and practicing these disciplines I can attest that it’s a sound way of understanding the health of body, the workings of the mind, and the relationships between everything (the elements, mind body and spirit, past present and future, people between each other, man and nature…… ect ect).

The stones, because of the purity of their elements, presumably represent the sattwic nature of the various planetary forces. We can use much more than stones to mitigate these forces. In many ways, the stones I recommend are meant to help purify the already satwik properties related to personality, mind and luck. Stones are subtle and simple. If we want to start working on improving negative indications in chart, then a person has to be willing to commit to more active remedies.

To use a rather extreme example, say a chart indicates that a person my do something wrong and go to prison for a few years (not that you have anything like this). By logic, one way to perhaps influence this out come might be to bring doughnuts to the police station every Tuesday. This would have a very strong effect on making you more law abiding. But of course, no one is going to do this and the police would likely think it so strange that they might indeed find some reason to put you in jail, so, we feed the fish every Tuesday and perhaps donate some time or money to something like a halfway house. As the shamans would say: “we have to appease that energy that wants to do us harm.”

These sorts of remedies all depend on the client and what they want from life, what they’re willing to do to get it, and of course, what resources they have at their disposal.

This link is to an article I wrote and presented to the university about the role of science in regards to preventative treatment:

And here’s a slightly different perspective on how astrology (and such things) work:

The Method of Vedic Astrology

I want to share a few things about how Vedic Astrology works. Vedic astrology uses predictive methods to test the chart. Quite often one or two fairly specific things will pop out at an astrologer from your past that they will be able to predict to a time frame. The ability to give such accurate prediction lends a heavy emphasis towards fate. For many people this might be the first time they come up against the notion that they personally are not the actor. In the context of astrology, ones sense of ego cannot deny it the power of fate over their lives. This alone can be helpful and bring positive response. But once an astrologer has determined the relative accuracy of the chart, he then knows which energies are working in which way and therefore can figure out which energies need to be worked with in which way. That’s the complicated way of saying that I then know which birth-stones to suggest for you.

From this point it’s up to you. If you can attach some emotion to that stone and that energy then you will get a positive result. Without any input from you and the stone will not work. But even if you wear it continuously after some time it will begin to work since you will naturally form an attachment to it. For those people more inclined to self-improvement from the perspective of Vedic astrology there are various mundane activities that can be incorporated over time. But these things depend on your inclination as much as by indications in the chart. What are you willing to do to fulfill your desires?

Astrology, from a Vedic perspective it is the foundation upon which things like yoga and Ayurveda rest. Astrology can determine our dosha as well as any health complications that might come your way. It can also suggest treatment possibilities. The Vedic birth chart is perhaps the clearest pathology report a person can get. From this point a person can focus their energies in simple ways to achieve positive results in their life. Though of course, even with the help of astrology you will still have to experience you karma, but with grace perhaps we can all lessen the effects of the bad karmas while improving the good karmas.

But same as any other method you use for self-improvement, positive results will be directly proportional to the effort you put in; and the amount of will power a person is able to muster is directly proportional to their belief in the effectiveness of the method. If you have belief in the method (Vedic Astrology in this case), and sincere desire for self-improvement thru this path, then it can guarantee results (by grace of true will, knowledge and desire, results will come).

If your will, your knowledge and desire are all acting in the same direction you will get positive results for yourself. Everything you get comes by this method. The desire created by the thirst gives the will; if you have right knowledge then it’s easy to satisfy that desire; whether it’s a thirst for water or knowledge or something simple like sex. But you have to know how to operate that thing that you want; this is important whether it’s a tap for water, a book for knowledge, the opposite sex for the obvious; or in this case, yourself so that you can have satisfy deeper desires for contentment.
A yogi spends years gathering self-knowledge through their body and their breath, looking inward for the reflection of the outward. Vedic astrology offers a opportunity to look outward at the position of the planets to see the inward reflection. There are always subtle (sometimes even mundane) things we can do to polish that double-sided mirror. Learning to operate our own bodies, minds and senses as well as the material world that surrounds us is how we polish that mirror.

The Vedic astrology of India is quite different from the astrology we grew up with in the west, it can be much more specific in regards to events. It’s not just and entertaining interlude, you have to be prepared to look at yourself in the mirror. The Vedic method is spiritual and philosophical as well as psychological and mundane. Fate is not a random occurrence. But the energies of the planets that help direct our fate can be manipulated. Change, after all, takes place on all levels. But usually change takes place slowly in increments. Regardless of the technique you choose to use, you must give it time to work. Hasty action without full knowledge is often a source and a symptom of what we generally consider to be bad luck while patience tends to produce the opposite.
