2017 Transits for Scorpio

I finally get to my own rising sign, Scorpio. Scorpios are still suffering with Sade Sati as Saturn goes back and forth between the 1st and the 2nd houses. Sade sati can influence durable savings. Perhaps it can be said that as the trouble of Saturn’s transit over moon sign or rising sign, one begins to feel the need for some kind of security. As 4th house owner in the 2nd house, there can be some positive gain of land and savings (these positive outcomes are perhaps more likely for Scorpios more advanced in age). Anytime Saturn influences the 2nd house, we have to have some concern for the teeth, which is likely influenced by the dry, starchy, even stale food that Saturn likes to eat. With Mars and Rahu also influencing this second house, I can’t expect much health to come from your diet; and this motely crew could even escalate things to a point of surgery. However, since Jupiter owns this 2nd house and sits in the 11th, you could make some gain from food or speech or family or perhaps merely thru adjustments to liquid assets. There will, no doubt, be difficulties in the family: major sickness or death (this sort of prediction generally goes with sade sati as well).

This Saturn is looking at the 4th house giving his affects to the mother and the home. You are likely feeling some responsibility for your home or homeland, while Ketu is doing his best to help you to disregard it. A serene home life is not on the cards for Scorpios, though there is a good chance that there will be changes in these matters by Ketu’s influence. Saturn’s look at the 8th house is generally considered favourable. Anything that begins in this period is likey to be maintained. Although this Saturn gives longevity in the 8th, this does not also suggest a life of ease. Longevity by this Saturn generally accompanies some pain and suffering. Saturn’s 10th look is going to the 11th house which would be crimping you profits and gains and ensuring that those around you do not challenge the status quo. Any gains that are made in this period are quite likely to be the product of hard work and committed responsibility.

I mentioned Ketu’s cutting qualities in the 4th house. This sharpness will also go to his look on the 8th house, which, combined with Saturn and Mars, also suggests some sudden health concerns and possibly a surgical procedure. This combination could suggest other kinds of cuts, burns, chemical reactions or accidents as well. Mercury, the owner of the 8th hose is in the 7th suggesting that your secrets may also be released. And there is a good opportunity for some secret partnership. Your spouse could also suffer from some separation with his or her family at this time. Ketu’s aspect on the 12th house is generally a positive indication. Lack of sleep could be a result, but more likely is less expenditure. This will not be a period of wasting your time. Dreams are likely to take on an unsual importance in this period as well; though, like sleep, meditation may also be difficult.

Rahu is in the 10th house working on our public reputation. He will do good work to get us noticed, but it might not always be in the best light. Rahu in the 10th can often tarnish our reputation in society by not acting in approved ways (not that approved channels is necessarily where we all wish to be noticed). So as usual, the transit results, and our reaction to them has much more to do with were we are in life and what we want than with the facts of this al that occurrence. Rabhu is looking at the 2nd house, which increases our ego and promotes expenditure so that we might appear as someone with means. Rahu’s aspect on the 6th house can give debt and various obstacles. If your job involves removing obstacles or solving problems for people, then such a Rahu can be a very good thing for your chart.

Jupiter is in the 11th house helping you to come up with new and novel ways for making gains and fulfilling your hopes. You will likely attract upright people working for a noble cause and with Mercury transiting the 7th house, this late summer period could be a good time for gaining thru agreement, negotiation and/or contract; speculation and risk is also likely to turn a small profit at this time. Any sort of agreement that you make is likely to have noble intentions and Jupiter’s aspect to the 7th will likely ensure that all parties live up to their contract agreements at this time. This is a good time, for education.

Relationship with spouse could experience some turbulence in this period as your mind is likely to be considering options and perhaps avoiding being forthright in your words or behaviour.

2017 Transits for Libra (bonus article included)

The moon is full in debilitation in the second house for Libra natives while the second owner is in the 8th house from the 2nd (ie. The 9th house). Of course, both the moon and Mars are fast moving planets sop this is a very dynamic situation I’m writing about in this paragraph. In any case, Storage containers will be subject to damage at this time. This may suggest banking problems (though this kind of thing is more likely to be felt by Capricorn natives or the areas of he world rules by Capricorn since Ketu’s involvement is usually necessary to the some effect by the larger social/cultural/governmental structure under which we live. Some difficulties in the family may manifest in this mid-summer period. And Mars in the 9th house can bring legal problems. Ones father, gurus, or access to higher knowledge is likely to face difficulties unless one is following a technical or physical field of knowledge.

With Mars and Rahu aspecting the 3rd house Saturn, it could even be a good time to learn how to operate combustion machines, weapons, guns, or any kind of machine which is likely to produce heat of smoke or even, because Saturn is also involved, chemicals such a fertilizer and other reactive substances. This third house suggests all kinds of hard, improper, possibly illegal or unethical effort to get what you want. Since the owner of this 3rd house is in the 12th, there is suggestion that even these kinds of hard efforts may not be successful; or perhaps they merely go unnoticed due to their hidden nature (occurring at night or some place away from your home).

Saturn, considered alone in this 3rd house brings a responsible mindset that will have Libra natives working very consistently to get what they want. The social circle; the networking crowd is likely to be composed of the common man or perhaps foreign or people elder to you. Saturn’s aspect to the 9th house will further highlight this belief in the dignity of the common man. His aspect on the 5th house will reduce risk an look instead for the sure thing to come in. Saturn’s aspect on the 5th hose is generally not very good for children. But aspecting the 12th house (and with Jupiter occupying the 12th house by transit), this could be a good time for travel. Perhaps merely some short holiday considering Jupiter owns the 3rd house which related more with shorter trips ) or perhaps even longer commutes). Saturn is also 12th from his 4th house Capricorn which further suggest being away from home and long commutes. Jupiter’s aspect to the 4th house suggest some expansion of the home environment so perhaps there are some home renovations going on the necessitate staying away from the home for a period.

And speaking of Jupiter who is in the 12th house, this can be a good time for charitable or education expenses. However, Jupiter can also suggest a multitude of expenses in this time. Again, if we look at this very specific time period with Saturn and Mars both looking at the 12th house, there is very likely to be some wasteful expenditure and difficulty sleeping.

Jupiter alone in the 12th house can also help us to overcome our obstacles (6th house) thru extended visits to isolated places (hospitals, ashrams, prisons, retreats). Jupiter in 12th (especially as 3rd owner) can also suggest rather indulgent bed pleasures. He will do better here without Saturn’s restrictive aspect, though, since Saturn is a Yoga Karaka planet for Libra Natives, his restrictive aspect is also likely to be beneficial. The good or bad of a situation always depends on what we want (or what we think we want).

Rahu is in the 11th house affecting the Kama trikon (the desire trine. . Rahu loves this position. Desire is Rahu’s middle name, he knows how to achieve and consume and take more and more in. Of course, being a head without a body his appetite can be difficult to satiate. He can fulfill hopes and achieve great things, but he cannot be satisfied. As soon as one desire is fulfilled, he wants more. This relates to profit and gain, ones own effort will rarely be enough (since he aspects the 3rd house) and he will want very much to connect with others but may be blocked in this due to his own desire and greed which may be felt by more sensitive individuals unless Rahu is working very much in a higher (purer) level.

Ketu is in the 5th house, which can cut productivity and harm the children, but it can also act as a raja yoga karaka in the trinal house. Ketu being the least attached and sometimes called the most spiritual of planets can negate our own personality as well as our attachments to productivity and our traditional belief systems. This can be a good time to experiment with some new healing or spiritual modalities (new age, chakra cleanses, and many of these modern or post modern practices that are popular today).

2017 Libra Transits (second writing)

Libra natives can consider this a special bonus from Sleepingdogblog. I’ve accidentally written a second article for these same transits. This is also  good opportunity to see how differently a chart can be looked at. Every chart, every time is a whole new experience for met mind.

Jupiter is in 12th house Virgo bringing a variety of expenditure, some of it could be charitable, or perhaps relating to education, or even more likely, heath and other expenses to clear obstacles from your path. The strength of Jupiter’s influence on your 6th house suggests that you could go into debt over these expense. You might also find yourself more active in the night than is usual for you as Jupiter will have an expansive effect on these sorts of things.

In this particular period that has Saturn and Mars also looking at this 12th house Jupiter this could bring out some toxic circumstances late at night. Some wasteful expenditure is also likely due to these malefics.

Jupiter’s aspect on the 4th house can be good growth in the home by way of new members joining the family thru marriage or children. The home itself could also have material wealth added to it by purchase, or construction. (While Mars looks at this 4th house from the 9th house there will be ample opportunity for fighting in the home, however this will diminish as Mars moves to Cancer, by which time Ketu while be moving into your 4th house Capricorn. [I will be writing about the later part of the year soon.

Jupiter is also looking at your 8th house, which can be volatile this time of the year, since Sun makes his annual transit thru your 8th house Taurus. The own, Venus is lagging behind in the 7th house which could raise some relationship issues. Sudden news might not be good from any quarter, though Sun can bring a bit un unexpected gain, or perhaps you gain by keeping your own gain a secret. In any case, don’t expect your secrete to necessarily stay that way thru late summer and fall.

Saturn is in the 3rd house of effort, brothers, and courage. There could be fights with brothers, or their health could be bad in this period. You could stay away from home and there will be delays in your travels plans. However, between Saturn, Jupiter and Mars, this is a good time for travel to happen, it just might not be as smooth as we’d like. Saturn is affecting Ketu in the 5th house making this a good time for upgrading, or certification training; perhaps we some hand on apprenticeship type program. Science and technology will be at the forefront of your creative endeavors. Saturn’s owner and aspect of this 5th house suggests very safe investments and measured risks, succumbing, no doubt, to Ketu’s unpredictability. Though Saturn’s position in the 11th house from this 5th house suggests that your risk could be gainful.

The 9th house, the father, teachers, and higher knowledge is suffering thru this period. You may feel yourself that you’ve had to sacrifice a lot thru this Saturn transit. Knowledge is one thing, but without experience, how can we really know the conviction behind our beliefs?

Rahu in the 11th house. It cannot be said enough that Rahu loves the 11th house. It’s an uppachya house, ever on the increase, just like Rahu whose appetite is always growing. Never satisfied. Rahu in the 11th gives a wide variety of friends and many different ways of acquiring an income. He brings a lot of focus into how to make profit; the 11th house knows how to respond to being objectified. Objects will be forthcoming.

Rahu is also looking at the 7th house, which is also positively influenced to be a good time for relationships, marriage (especially for Libra men since Venus is in this 7th house), contracts, or any kind of negotiation. Of course you have to be careful of this Venus raising some unexpected element in this negotiation, but certainly while Mars transits Gemini in the 9th house, you should find your luck involved in all negotiations with others.

Ketu is in the 5th house which may not be particularly good for children unless he’s well places in your chart, he will be good for original thinking and original ideas, if you can find it in yourself to care enough to pay attention. Some very strange and fortunate coincidence is likely on the table for you thru this Ketu transit. I’ve always been partial to Ketu, he brings magic into our lives for better or worse. When he sits in the dharma trine, we can break out of the confines of our self-imposed personality box and try new things. And with Ketu we can often find some hidden talent.

2017 Transits for Taurus

I’ve used a chart made for the full moon on June 9, 2017 to provide me with a framework  for this horoscope, however, the emphasis is on the slower moving planets which can make this reading relevant for most of the first half of 2017.

  • Saturn is retrograde in Sagittarius (until June 20 when he will move back into Scorpio)
  • Rahu in Leo (until August 18)
  • Ketu in Aquarius (until August 18)
  • Jupiter in Virgo (until September 11)

Taurus

This should be good period for property and speculation, children, and beginning any new venture. Travel is possible with Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and Rahu suggesting various possibilities. 8th owner in 5th house suggests research (as does Aries Lagna). In a broad scheme of things, I can’t help but feel there will be some new thing come into the world this summer.

This debilitated full moon in the 7th house could suggest that the next couple of weeks could involve some difficult negotiation. Generally speaking, the Moon in debilitation is a good time to carry out some harsh activity (otherwise such harshness may be directed at you).

Saturn is yoga karaka owner of 9th & 10th houses transiting the 8th house, well kinda…. Saturn is retrograde at zero degrees Sagittarius so in ten days, Saturn will be in Scorpio for a few months before turning around and coming back. This kind of long slow Saturn retrograde can bring us back to take responsibility for something that happened long before. For Taurus natives this could be some deal or contract that you’ve been neglecting.

Jupiter is well placed in the 5th house for Taurus natives. Gain from creative work, children, speculation, or even some unexpected source are all possible. Productivity should also be expansive. Jupiter is also the karaka for children as is the 5th house. One would normally consider this to be a good placement, but generally Vedic astrology disparages such placements as essentially being too much of a good thing. Taurus natives may feel as though their children are shaping their fate to a great extent. This Jupiter is excellent for spiritual practice, beginning a new practice of mantra, taking any kinds of studies (especially humanistic of spiritual). Ones health should also gain some advantage by this Jupiter via timely advice and proper discrimination. Jupiter transiting the 5th house can also make the conditions ripe for a very positive chance encounter.

Rahu is in the 4th house suggesting that you’re away from home for more time than you’d like. Rahu in 4th can suggest and emotional time as well as a time for wandering the various pleasures of life. Since Rahu in 4th aspects the 8th house, several unexpected events can take place in and around the home and well as in and around vehicles. Rahu’s aspect on the 12th house suggests wasteful expenditure.

Ketu is in the 10th house suggesting that ones own pleasure may be more important to you than your public reputation. Especially since the 10th house is Aquarius (an intellectual/mystical air house) and Ketu also represents mystical spirituality and dispersal, it could be that you many people begin to see you in a new light. Career changes are possible with such a Ketu. With the aspect of Ketu and Saturn and the residency of Mars in the 2nd house, saving and storage could be difficult in this period. Saturn and Ketu aspecting the 2nd house also makes it a very good time to learn a foreign language or generally showing your technical abilities to the world. Also, if you follow a technical or scientific career, then this could be a very good period for wealth.
