Ketu in Scorpio for all Rising Signs

Jyeshta is represented by Indra, the king of the gods, the hero and dragon slayer who wields the thunderbolt and is the master of electrical energy and the atmosphere. Jyeshta is also represented by the Eldest sister to Laxmi; the dark sister who married Mritu, the fearsome god who kills. She is the Shakti of the god who brings death; she has the power to send people into the underworld. But the symbol; is the urubus, the snake eating its own tail, realizing the infinite by bending time. Jyeshta relates with all kinds of occult magic, alchemy, tantra, aghore and all that which comes from the underworld.

Mercury, the ruler of Jyeshta has already mastered the underworld of the Naga represented by Ashlesha; in Jyeshta we find ourselves to have traversed another full cycle and come back again to the underworld with a little more refined magic. Here we find mysterious Mars and adaptable Mercury combining their energy. This makes jyeshta a master of tactics and strategy; a master of the art of war. Jyeshta rules over all senior positions and seniority in general. Even today many people say that Indra is the most powerful of all the gods.

Ketu in Scorpio-Jyeshta  will reveal such mysteries that we cannot imagine. Some key phrases that come up for me with this combination are: unrestrained psychological warfare, scattered secrets, no barriers to research, no limits to the depth that can be found here, research of the paranormal, lifeless revolution, scattered conquests, alien hero, unexpected surrender, loss of sexual boundaries and a numbing effect from all of this.

With Mars’ aspect on ketu we could see great destruction, revolution, terrorism. For the average Aries native this could bring great transformations, upheavals, accidents, unbounded access to the abyss, to the worlds of mystery, sex, dealth, emergency. Mars and ketu can bring surgical strikes or it can be very unstable and cause great explosions. Mars is blood, fire, steel and cutting, ketu numbs, his cutting utterly destroys (or scissorizes as my teacher says). For the most daring tantric personalities this could be an incredible opportunity to dive into the great dark unknown. One would turn inward, receive the blessings of Ganesha, the guardian of Shakti’s abode. Rahu will be in Taurus relishing the material comforts so the forces of illusion will be strong and foresight will be covered by his thick oily smoke. Combined with Mars’ impetuousness this could really be a recipe for disaster.

Venus will also be conjunct with this ketu in the first and last part of 2021. This combination makes me think of psychedelic art, but it’s also not considered good for contracts, agreements or negotiations as these things are either cut off or occur in such a scattered and random way that almost no one takes it very seriously. Since it’s happening in Scorpio the negotiations could be kept secret unless ketu’s no boundaries influence created a leak; and the leaks could be significant, random, anonymous, ghostly and perhaps not even a part of this earthly existence.

If you have Ketu in Scorpio in 1st house you should be prepared for a complete loss of personal identity. This can be good for those on a spiritual path but there will no doubt be some pain of separation. Can be good for becoming “the face” of some product of movement that ones heart is not fully into.

Ketu in 2nd house can spell the breakup of the family, savings can come from otherworldly sources or be completely destroyed. One might act against family values. Can be good for learning a new language or starting a new age superfood diet. One needs to be mindful of the things they say.

Ketu in 3rd can bring a randomness to communication behaviors. If you are part of a group or a team it could be time for the break up and scattering of the individual. One might not be mindful of the details or the details may be scattered in such a way as to seem unreal. Might have difficulty connecting when reaching out to the world.

Ketu in 4th can be a very unstable period when one’s base or foundation becomes unstable. There might be little comfort or release in the home, or perhaps home changes altogether. One might feel alienated from the home community and boundaries will not be effective. One’s sense of belonging will relate with everywhere and nowhere.

Ketu in the 5th is not a good time for having children, and for parents it can be a time when the children leave the home (and are scattered). Speculative tendencies, romance, fun and your unique expressions might be a little strange at this time. It can signify a very experimental time regarding personal expression. It can be alright for people who take centre stage, but their schedule might be a little wacky and shows might come and go without explanation.

Ketu in the 6th is a destroyer of enemies, but it can also become our own destruction if we are not more aware of our enemies. It’s wise to remember that just because we are not affected by our enemies, debts, illness and jealousies doesn ‘t not mean they are not there to bring their malevolence into our life.

Ketu 7th brings his ambivalence to our relationships and negotiations. There can be unexplainable changes to agreements, negotiations might be cut off for no apparent reason. It’s a good time to either read the fine print. Can be a great time to negotiate a surrender. We might even find ourselves seeking to form a relationship of deal thru the art of surrender, which is not always the best way to achieve a balanced agreement. But it’s possible that a forced surrender could bring about union.

Ketu 8th house will bring up a lot as all our deepest fears and secrets that we don’t want to talk about will be revealed. This position can remove all our sexual and taboo inhibitions and bring in random sexual partners. But catastrophes can also seem to happen randomly and in a disconnected way.

Ketu 9th house scatters the wisdom and makes one believe in ghosts and aliens and other supernatural phenomena. One is likely to disregard and disrespect gurus as they wander from one to the other; or one might meet a guru who is more like an unorthodox wandering saint. This position also supports surrendering to a guru, Islam (which is surrender), nihilism or Buddhism which idealized nothingness.

Ketu 10th house can cause one to take a strange job or random jobs. It’s not a good position for a durable career unless you’re in the spiritual or supernatural business. Leaders and authority figures can be inept, incometent and lifeless.

Ketu in 11th house will bring some strange friends into your life. People and profits can come and go like ghosts without boundary. Strange hopes and wishes or empty desires might make you feel like you don’t know what you want, and if you get what you want it may be tossed aside like a piece of meaningless trash.

Ketu 12th house brings very strange dreams, little privacy and scattered sleep patterns. It can be good for meditation, clairvoyance, Privacy can come at strange times in strange circumstances. One might go in and out of consciousness, space out or seem to disappear randomly.

2017 Transits for Libra (bonus article included)

The moon is full in debilitation in the second house for Libra natives while the second owner is in the 8th house from the 2nd (ie. The 9th house). Of course, both the moon and Mars are fast moving planets sop this is a very dynamic situation I’m writing about in this paragraph. In any case, Storage containers will be subject to damage at this time. This may suggest banking problems (though this kind of thing is more likely to be felt by Capricorn natives or the areas of he world rules by Capricorn since Ketu’s involvement is usually necessary to the some effect by the larger social/cultural/governmental structure under which we live. Some difficulties in the family may manifest in this mid-summer period. And Mars in the 9th house can bring legal problems. Ones father, gurus, or access to higher knowledge is likely to face difficulties unless one is following a technical or physical field of knowledge.

With Mars and Rahu aspecting the 3rd house Saturn, it could even be a good time to learn how to operate combustion machines, weapons, guns, or any kind of machine which is likely to produce heat of smoke or even, because Saturn is also involved, chemicals such a fertilizer and other reactive substances. This third house suggests all kinds of hard, improper, possibly illegal or unethical effort to get what you want. Since the owner of this 3rd house is in the 12th, there is suggestion that even these kinds of hard efforts may not be successful; or perhaps they merely go unnoticed due to their hidden nature (occurring at night or some place away from your home).

Saturn, considered alone in this 3rd house brings a responsible mindset that will have Libra natives working very consistently to get what they want. The social circle; the networking crowd is likely to be composed of the common man or perhaps foreign or people elder to you. Saturn’s aspect to the 9th house will further highlight this belief in the dignity of the common man. His aspect on the 5th house will reduce risk an look instead for the sure thing to come in. Saturn’s aspect on the 5th hose is generally not very good for children. But aspecting the 12th house (and with Jupiter occupying the 12th house by transit), this could be a good time for travel. Perhaps merely some short holiday considering Jupiter owns the 3rd house which related more with shorter trips ) or perhaps even longer commutes). Saturn is also 12th from his 4th house Capricorn which further suggest being away from home and long commutes. Jupiter’s aspect to the 4th house suggest some expansion of the home environment so perhaps there are some home renovations going on the necessitate staying away from the home for a period.

And speaking of Jupiter who is in the 12th house, this can be a good time for charitable or education expenses. However, Jupiter can also suggest a multitude of expenses in this time. Again, if we look at this very specific time period with Saturn and Mars both looking at the 12th house, there is very likely to be some wasteful expenditure and difficulty sleeping.

Jupiter alone in the 12th house can also help us to overcome our obstacles (6th house) thru extended visits to isolated places (hospitals, ashrams, prisons, retreats). Jupiter in 12th (especially as 3rd owner) can also suggest rather indulgent bed pleasures. He will do better here without Saturn’s restrictive aspect, though, since Saturn is a Yoga Karaka planet for Libra Natives, his restrictive aspect is also likely to be beneficial. The good or bad of a situation always depends on what we want (or what we think we want).

Rahu is in the 11th house affecting the Kama trikon (the desire trine. . Rahu loves this position. Desire is Rahu’s middle name, he knows how to achieve and consume and take more and more in. Of course, being a head without a body his appetite can be difficult to satiate. He can fulfill hopes and achieve great things, but he cannot be satisfied. As soon as one desire is fulfilled, he wants more. This relates to profit and gain, ones own effort will rarely be enough (since he aspects the 3rd house) and he will want very much to connect with others but may be blocked in this due to his own desire and greed which may be felt by more sensitive individuals unless Rahu is working very much in a higher (purer) level.

Ketu is in the 5th house, which can cut productivity and harm the children, but it can also act as a raja yoga karaka in the trinal house. Ketu being the least attached and sometimes called the most spiritual of planets can negate our own personality as well as our attachments to productivity and our traditional belief systems. This can be a good time to experiment with some new healing or spiritual modalities (new age, chakra cleanses, and many of these modern or post modern practices that are popular today).

2017 Libra Transits (second writing)

Libra natives can consider this a special bonus from Sleepingdogblog. I’ve accidentally written a second article for these same transits. This is also  good opportunity to see how differently a chart can be looked at. Every chart, every time is a whole new experience for met mind.

Jupiter is in 12th house Virgo bringing a variety of expenditure, some of it could be charitable, or perhaps relating to education, or even more likely, heath and other expenses to clear obstacles from your path. The strength of Jupiter’s influence on your 6th house suggests that you could go into debt over these expense. You might also find yourself more active in the night than is usual for you as Jupiter will have an expansive effect on these sorts of things.

In this particular period that has Saturn and Mars also looking at this 12th house Jupiter this could bring out some toxic circumstances late at night. Some wasteful expenditure is also likely due to these malefics.

Jupiter’s aspect on the 4th house can be good growth in the home by way of new members joining the family thru marriage or children. The home itself could also have material wealth added to it by purchase, or construction. (While Mars looks at this 4th house from the 9th house there will be ample opportunity for fighting in the home, however this will diminish as Mars moves to Cancer, by which time Ketu while be moving into your 4th house Capricorn. [I will be writing about the later part of the year soon.

Jupiter is also looking at your 8th house, which can be volatile this time of the year, since Sun makes his annual transit thru your 8th house Taurus. The own, Venus is lagging behind in the 7th house which could raise some relationship issues. Sudden news might not be good from any quarter, though Sun can bring a bit un unexpected gain, or perhaps you gain by keeping your own gain a secret. In any case, don’t expect your secrete to necessarily stay that way thru late summer and fall.

Saturn is in the 3rd house of effort, brothers, and courage. There could be fights with brothers, or their health could be bad in this period. You could stay away from home and there will be delays in your travels plans. However, between Saturn, Jupiter and Mars, this is a good time for travel to happen, it just might not be as smooth as we’d like. Saturn is affecting Ketu in the 5th house making this a good time for upgrading, or certification training; perhaps we some hand on apprenticeship type program. Science and technology will be at the forefront of your creative endeavors. Saturn’s owner and aspect of this 5th house suggests very safe investments and measured risks, succumbing, no doubt, to Ketu’s unpredictability. Though Saturn’s position in the 11th house from this 5th house suggests that your risk could be gainful.

The 9th house, the father, teachers, and higher knowledge is suffering thru this period. You may feel yourself that you’ve had to sacrifice a lot thru this Saturn transit. Knowledge is one thing, but without experience, how can we really know the conviction behind our beliefs?

Rahu in the 11th house. It cannot be said enough that Rahu loves the 11th house. It’s an uppachya house, ever on the increase, just like Rahu whose appetite is always growing. Never satisfied. Rahu in the 11th gives a wide variety of friends and many different ways of acquiring an income. He brings a lot of focus into how to make profit; the 11th house knows how to respond to being objectified. Objects will be forthcoming.

Rahu is also looking at the 7th house, which is also positively influenced to be a good time for relationships, marriage (especially for Libra men since Venus is in this 7th house), contracts, or any kind of negotiation. Of course you have to be careful of this Venus raising some unexpected element in this negotiation, but certainly while Mars transits Gemini in the 9th house, you should find your luck involved in all negotiations with others.

Ketu is in the 5th house which may not be particularly good for children unless he’s well places in your chart, he will be good for original thinking and original ideas, if you can find it in yourself to care enough to pay attention. Some very strange and fortunate coincidence is likely on the table for you thru this Ketu transit. I’ve always been partial to Ketu, he brings magic into our lives for better or worse. When he sits in the dharma trine, we can break out of the confines of our self-imposed personality box and try new things. And with Ketu we can often find some hidden talent.

2017 Transits for Cancer (very detailed)

7 This is essentially a tutorial for reading a chart in the style of Parashara using the transits for Cancer Lagna in 2017 as an example. In writing this, I have tried to consider the many students of astrology who contact me, but many people with even a mundane interest in astrology may be interested in the content.

Four more major transits this year:

Saturn will go back to Scorpio around June 20.

Rahu and Ketu will go into Cancer and Capricorn respectively on August 18.

Jupiter will more into Libra on the inauspicious day of September 11.

Saturn will go back to Sagittarius around October 26

2017 transits for Cancer Lagna (rising or moon sign)

Dharma 1st house: who we are; “ecce homo.” 5th house: what we create; “it’s alive.”9th house: what we believe: “by divine right.”

The first house is the self, the personality, the body, the head; it is who we are. Rahu will be moving into Cancer in August otherwise no other planet has direct influence over the first house, though of course each planet is measured from its position from 1st house. Rahu in first house can bring health problems, and if moon is in cancer it may bring some anxiety to the mind. Rahu influences individuality, and a sense of self-importance. Much of the transit effect depends on the position of Rahu in ones personal chart as well as the chart as a whole, but Rahu in first house makes one want to be recognized for who they are….. “SEE ME,” this Rahu says. I’ll discuss Ketu’s position when we talk about the Kama (desire) houses. From this first house Rahu looks at the 5th and 9th houses bringing some intensity to your productivity and well as some development of a personal belief system that does not necessary fit with the established religions. This Rahu can also make mistakes in his attempts to maximize production and gain some recognition for creativity/productivity.

Fifth house: The children of the 5th house are much more than just those who spill forth from the loins of our wives and lovers. Those children which are born of our mind also fit into the 5th house; all the creations we try to maintain are our children. This blog is my child: I feed it, care for it, and give it love; someday it might grow up to have a kind of life of it’s own, but unless I raise it well, it will never survive without me. Investments also come from the fifth house: responsible long-term investments by Saturn, more aggressive short term by Mars, and wild speculation by Rahu. Saturn of course will be affecting the fifth house throughout his transit Scorpio. When Rahu goes into Cancer, he will also be looking at the 5th house (I mentioned some of these effects in my talk about 1st house). Of course the combination of these two malefic influences on an enemy sign (August to October) may bring some difficulties in 5th house matters.

Saturn will have a couple of months alone in this 5th house of Scorpio in the summer which can be beneficial in a very unexciting way, but when Rahu and Ketu make their move to Cancer and Capricorn in August, Rahu will be giving Saturn in the 5th a hard aspect is likely to bring some mistakes in August – October. This is the kind of situation where we create something without intention; or perhaps our creation has unintended consequences. When Saturn moves to the 6th house in October he will move your sense of responsibility into taking care of your health and resolving other obstacles and disputes. With Saturn’s limiting influence removed from the 5th house, Rahu will be free to increase our sense of risk and adventure. Rahu’s aspect on the 5th house also makes this a good time to try some foreign spiritual practice or undertake some intensive studies. Hard responsibility!

Spring can be a potent time for spiritual practice for Cancer natives, but with Jupiter looking at the ninth house from the 3rd and Venus going into exaltation in the 9th from January 27 – May 31. These are the two Gurus of the Gods and Demons respectively; both Brahmins, both with knowledge of the world from their respective perspectives. But when Venus moves on, Jupiter will remain blessing our higher knowledge and sense of faith alone until mid-August when Rahu moves to affect the Dharma trine for Cancer, Scorpio & Pisces natives. Rahu bring intensity into the lives of watery people. His effect will be mostly felt on the body and the personality of Cancer natives who could contract some contagious disease, flu, or seasonal ailment. Accidents and injuries can also be brought about by Rahu’s intensity. People with Rahu in the 1st house often feel strong and independent and pride themselves on their strong individuality.

Ninth house: Our luck, our faith, and our beliefs become our religion. Everyone has one whether it’s personal or institutional or some combination of the two. All the things we pick up over the course of our lives that “make sense” about how humans should live fit into the indications of the 9th house. (The 5th house is also said to be a luck house, but the 5th has more to do with how we put our beliefs in action. If the 9th house the spirituality that we believe in, the 5th house is the spiritual practice that we actually follow. This is also the house of higher knowledge, the guruji, and the father.

For Cancer natives, the 9th house will have Jupiter aspecting his own Pisces 9th house until September 11, 2017. Rahu will also make an aspect here after the nodes move in mid-August and this will continue until the end of the year. Jupiter’s aspect here will promote good luck and a broad-minded personal philosophy. It’s a good aspects of student of the more advanced institutions as well as for spiritual practitioners. Such and aspect can also bless the father or the guru with advisory capabilities. This spring when Venus makes her transit thru this house will be a very potent time of spiritual practice and achieving a higher understanding of the world regardless of your spiritual out look.

Kama: 3rd house; sexual effort 7th house: the other; 11th house: our hopes

Third house: the effort we make to fulfill our desire, cousins, contemporaries, peers; what we do with our hands; social contacts & network.

Jupiter in the 3rd can bring noble efforts; he can enrich your siblings and network, partnerships and profits. He is also looking at his own 9th house, which should be good for spiritual practice, high knowledge, fathers and gurus. In the spring when Venus is exalted in his transit thru Pisces should be an especially potent time for the spiritual lives of Cancer natives. Saturn is looking at Jupiter from the 6th house, which can make you responsible for your health, but also give responsibility to your 3rd house efforts. Jupiter in the 3rd can also bring a lot of short travel and your neighborhood could undergo some kind of improvement.

Jupiter will continue to give his blessing to these matters from the third house until September. Jupiter generally blesses us by broadening our view (our perspective) of things. He’s also famous for his indulgence and will bring an honest effort to achieving whatever goals are assigned. Jupiter is also a multiplier so you may try several avenues to achieve the same goal. Saturn will be looking at Jupiter until June 20 when he goes back into Scorpio where he stays until October 26. Saturn drishti (aspect) on Jupiter in the third can give you a more determined and perhaps even habitual effort.

Seventh house: the kinds of partnerships we make and the way we maintain agreements; wife; business partners, contractual agreements, relationship with the other; our mirror. Essentially, this is how we view and treat others, or rather, “the other” since the typical dualist perspective of life merely separates oneself from all others allowing for the great narratives of man vs nature; man vs man; man vs himself. In any case, they’re all self-defeating battles in the end.

Jupiter’s aspect on the 7th house suggests that you may see at least some of what is noble and pure in others. Jupiter’s aspect can bring many different agreements with different people. Saturn, the ruler of the 7th house for Cancer natives, however, is in the 6th house (12th from 7th) which could bring disputes, broken contracts, or perhaps some service, duty or suffering related to the end of a contract. Since Saturn makes us take responsibility for the annoyances of 6th house, their effects are actually greatly mitigated, unlike, say, Ketu in 6th who often leaves us completely unconcerned with 6th house matters; which can often bring bigger difficulties later. (Saturn will be in this 6th house until June 20 & will return to the 6th again on October 26th.) Saturn in Sagittarius is in the 11th house from Aquarius which is in the 8th house suggesting some possibility of unexpected gain (some would say that this Saturn also forms an auspicious vipreet raj yoga.

When Saturn returns to Scorpio for the middle part of the year he can influence romantic agreements, however, Saturn’s risks are generally carefully measured and his aspect on the 7th house can bring responsibility for children as well as for agreements.

In regards to relationships, this Jupiter is giving a beneficial look at the 7th house of partnerships as well as the 9th house of luck, and from your 3rd, he looks at your partners 3rd (3rd from 7th) suggesting a good time for a combined effort. Relationships are generally ruled by Venus or Mars, though for a woman, Jupiter can represent the husband.

For Cancer lagna, Saturn rules the 7th house of relationships and therefore becomes the karaka (signifier) of relationships that are bound by some mutual agreement. Saturn’s transit in Sagittarius, I’m sorry to say, is not likely to be good for agreements or the partners of Cancer natives since he goes into to 6th house where agreements are broken or become like obstacles. Saturn can make us take responsibility for broken contract/agreements, or he can permanently delay breaking contracts. Saturn and Ketu are also hemming your 7th house; which can put a lot of pressure on your spouse or your agreements. This Ketu can also put a cramp on your partner’s savings, and Rahu in 2nd suggest that you may be happy to be in charge of savings and liquid investments.

Eleventh house: the kind of gain we make, our hopes and the people we associate with are represented in the 11th house. This will be a very dynamic house in 2017 as the aspecting planets will be changing frequently. Jupiter is currently alone in aspecting the 11th house until June when Saturn’s move to the 5th house will then give him an aspect on the 11th house as well. Saturn and Jupiter will give a combined aspect to this house throughout the summer and then in August, Ketu will add his aspecting influence. In September, Jupiter will move tot he 4th house leaving Saturn and Ketu to aspect this house until Saturn moves his look away from here in October.

The period from early September until late October could prove to be a very difficult time for gain and profit. Starting in August, Ketu will be dispersing agreements trade and negotiation. Once Jupiter takes his beneficial influence away from the 11th house, there is likely to be a loss of profits and a loss of hope. Ketu’s influence often comes in the form of a single sharp (or explosive) event that affects all of society as well as the individuals who are a part of it. Depending on ones natal chart even the most dire looking transits can be especially positive. Saturn and Ketu could allow one to profit from technical matters, foreigners, service, and the like.

Prior to September, Jupiter will be looking at the 11th house; which can be good for gain, but also expensive and pleasant of our sense of hope.

Artha: 2nd house: the face we show to the world; 6th house: obstacles; 10th house: our reputation

Second house: Rahu will be in Leo of the second house until mid-August. This can be a difficult placement for Rahu since he will like to appear as someone with great savings and many valuables regardless of the reality. The difficulty in this placement can be summed up with the words a local drug addict recently spoke to me: “it doesn’t matter what the truth is, nobody cares about truth, what people care about is appearance; appearance is everything.” This is the sort of materialistic philosophy followed by Rahu in the second. Saturn will also be looking at this 2nd house from mid-June to mid-September. The period from mid-June to mid-August will have both of these planets affecting the second house which is likely to cause some tension by introducing a conservative bent to Rahu’s excess. This mid-summer period could bring health problems to some member of the ancestral family (or childhood family), but it could also affect the face of teeth of the native. This will be a very good period for harsh speech, and food and eating habits are likely to be less than healthy (Rahu in the 2nd house of a natal chart is often indicative of meat eating or having an ancestry that earned from the death of animals). Once Rahu moves on to Cancer in August, Saturn’s dristi will be alone in influencing the second house. This will be a much better time for gathering savings and consolidating liquid assets, but with Saturn there will have to be some sacrifices made to complete the collection. Of course much depends on the natal position of the Sun and the other planets.

Sixth house: Saturn is going in and out the 6th house this year. In June he will move back to the 5th house until the end of October and then back into the 6th to complete his 2.5 year transit of the sign. Saturn in the 6th house makes us take responsibility for our health. From this position he can drag out acute health problems or disputes; he can force us into a service role; and generally make us take our obligations seriously. This is the position of someone who follows their duty.

Saturn rules the 7th and 8th houses. 7th owner going into the 6th house is rarely good as it will encourage disputes with spouse. This Saturn often does not go in for divorce of break up, but rather takes responsibility for the dispute and tries to fix things regardless of how long it takes. Saturn is not averse to the problem sets of the 6th.

Rahu’s aspect on this house until mid-August (both Saturn and Rahu will give effects here until mid to late June. The 6th house represents those things which challenge us and Rahu certainly loves a challenge. Rahu is also not averse to breaking a few rules in order to win. Success thru this period will depend on the natal placements of the planets as well as the dasha operating throughout this period.

Of course, for Cancer natives, Jupiter has some major say in 6th house matters. Jupiter will be in the 3rd house until early September and then he will move into the 4th house. The 3rd house is 10th from 6th suggesting that some reputational matters will be tied in with the 6th house matters. The 3rd house is the house of effort so it’s likely that noble (Jupiterian) efforts will be made for 6th house matters (to resolve disputes and health matters. It’s also possible that Jupiter will bring the 6th house disputes into the 3rd house to cause disputes with (or health problems to) younger siblings or social networks (neighbors can also be represented by 3rd house). When Jupiter moves into the 4th house, he can bring these duties, obstacles and challenges to the parents or home of the Cancer native. It must be pointed out that Jupiter is also the 9th house owner for Cancer lagna which suggest that there will always be a c certain amount of luck or higher knowledge tied in with Jupiterian significations.

Tenth house: For cancer natives the 10th house is ruled by Mars, a relatively fast moving planet that will continually transform ones reputation as the native seeks continual innovation. Rahu will be looking at the 10th house until mid-August and then it will be left without strong influence from any of the slow moving planets until Jupiter moves to Libra in September which will give the Guru a direct aspect of the 10th house.

Rahu deals with our urges that we cannot control, in regards to the 10th house, he gives us the urge for public recognition. This can often lead to “acting out” or some other behavior that will get noticed. The combined influence of Mars and Rahu on this house can also give a reputation of dealing with computers and machines.

When Jupiter lends his look to this house we can expect a broadening of reputation, perhaps an advisory or training position. Since Jupiter is looking from the 4th house of home and contentment, these expending emotions likely to be reflected in ones social position. Since this house is ruled by Mars, this can be an especially good time for executives maintaining several career portfolios.

Moksha: 4th house: contentment; 8th house: the unknown; 12th house: expenditure

Fourth house: Ketu is sending his dispersing influence tot he 4th house until the two brothers make their move in August. The 4th house will be vacant for about a month and then Jupiter will bring a combination of luck and duty into the home.

Depending on the position of Venus in the natal chart as well as the current dasha period running, Ketu can disperse the home, quell the home fires, and bring difficulties to the mother. Ketu can also influence a little bit of emotional numbness, and perhaps limit our sense of security.

Of course, when Jupiter moves into this 4th house in September, he will bring his natural expansiveness as well as his functional luck and duty. Higher knowledge and understanding will go into the home and influence the emotional being, but there will also be a stronger sense of duty for the home environment. A touch of caution needs to be exercises here since any influence of the 6th lord tot he 4th house can bring vehicle accidents as well as property disputes. Of course, once again, this is largely influenced by ones personal chart and dasha period.

Eighth house: The eighth house is mystery, occult, secret knowledge, death, and all that resides in the hidden depths of water. Cancer natives have Aquarius in the 8th house marking them a secret mystics.

Ketu is in Aquarius until mid-August. This can bring a deep and mysterious intuitive understanding. Ketu in 8th house can also be quite explosive in the 8th house since both have a proclivity for the unexpected. Ketu’s dispersal energy can be quite explosive when combines with Mars or Saturn. (Saturn will be aspecting Ketu in 8th thru May and mostly June). This could be quite a sensitive month and a half for Cancer natives as well as Cancer localities. Since Saturn is looking at his own Aquarius sign in this house, there is likely to be some protection (Saturn’s aspect on 8th also increases longevity), but it may be safe advice to expect the unexpected. Although it’s out of the purview of this analysis, it can be noted that Mars is also aspecting Saturn in the 6th house which will influence some toxicity.

Ketu will have a couple of months alone in the 8th house from the end of June until the end of August. This can bring a loss of privacy, loss of sleep even, as well as other difficulties in the home. Ketu’s role is to leave what belongs in the past, in the past. He cuts us from the energies that don’t serve us anymore. He is like that Shiva who is cutting the head off time; the fleeting past that is continually rushing into the majestically expansive mouths of Lord Krishna.

Then, in August, Rahu and Ketu move houses and the 8th house becomes more accessible to the reasoned to the mind. The ruler of 8th, Saturn, will be in the 5th house which is an excellent placement for research, and since he is additionally in Scorpio (the 8th sign), some occult experiences are also possible. Some of you may experience this as Ketu revealing some latent talents in the mystery cults and then suddenly finding a strong desire to practice and experience the mysteries of life.

For most of September and October, Jupiter will aspect this house, and Saturn will add his aspect in October when he moves back into Sagittarius. This can bring some more pleasant, but equally unexpected, events. This could be as simple as some good advice from an unlikely source.

Twelfth house: This is the ultimate moksha house: loss, liberation, expenses, bed pleasures, and the sub-conscious mind. Ketu and Saturn will also be affecting this house by aspect in the early part of summer. Difficult sleep, being out of touch with the sub-conscious, and certainly a lack of pleasurable bed pleasures. This Saturn-Ketu aspects here can bring awful dreams and a dreadful imagination. All this sub-conscious information will ease off in August, and if there is any kind of major disruption causes by this combination, Jupiter’s aspect on the 12th house (beginning in September) is likely to be beneficial.

Saturn and Ketu can sometimes give a very difficult restriction to expenses; or it can make for very wasteful expenses depending on their placement in your chart and the current dasha operating.

2017 Transits for Taurus

I’ve used a chart made for the full moon on June 9, 2017 to provide me with a framework  for this horoscope, however, the emphasis is on the slower moving planets which can make this reading relevant for most of the first half of 2017.

  • Saturn is retrograde in Sagittarius (until June 20 when he will move back into Scorpio)
  • Rahu in Leo (until August 18)
  • Ketu in Aquarius (until August 18)
  • Jupiter in Virgo (until September 11)

Taurus

This should be good period for property and speculation, children, and beginning any new venture. Travel is possible with Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and Rahu suggesting various possibilities. 8th owner in 5th house suggests research (as does Aries Lagna). In a broad scheme of things, I can’t help but feel there will be some new thing come into the world this summer.

This debilitated full moon in the 7th house could suggest that the next couple of weeks could involve some difficult negotiation. Generally speaking, the Moon in debilitation is a good time to carry out some harsh activity (otherwise such harshness may be directed at you).

Saturn is yoga karaka owner of 9th & 10th houses transiting the 8th house, well kinda…. Saturn is retrograde at zero degrees Sagittarius so in ten days, Saturn will be in Scorpio for a few months before turning around and coming back. This kind of long slow Saturn retrograde can bring us back to take responsibility for something that happened long before. For Taurus natives this could be some deal or contract that you’ve been neglecting.

Jupiter is well placed in the 5th house for Taurus natives. Gain from creative work, children, speculation, or even some unexpected source are all possible. Productivity should also be expansive. Jupiter is also the karaka for children as is the 5th house. One would normally consider this to be a good placement, but generally Vedic astrology disparages such placements as essentially being too much of a good thing. Taurus natives may feel as though their children are shaping their fate to a great extent. This Jupiter is excellent for spiritual practice, beginning a new practice of mantra, taking any kinds of studies (especially humanistic of spiritual). Ones health should also gain some advantage by this Jupiter via timely advice and proper discrimination. Jupiter transiting the 5th house can also make the conditions ripe for a very positive chance encounter.

Rahu is in the 4th house suggesting that you’re away from home for more time than you’d like. Rahu in 4th can suggest and emotional time as well as a time for wandering the various pleasures of life. Since Rahu in 4th aspects the 8th house, several unexpected events can take place in and around the home and well as in and around vehicles. Rahu’s aspect on the 12th house suggests wasteful expenditure.

Ketu is in the 10th house suggesting that ones own pleasure may be more important to you than your public reputation. Especially since the 10th house is Aquarius (an intellectual/mystical air house) and Ketu also represents mystical spirituality and dispersal, it could be that you many people begin to see you in a new light. Career changes are possible with such a Ketu. With the aspect of Ketu and Saturn and the residency of Mars in the 2nd house, saving and storage could be difficult in this period. Saturn and Ketu aspecting the 2nd house also makes it a very good time to learn a foreign language or generally showing your technical abilities to the world. Also, if you follow a technical or scientific career, then this could be a very good period for wealth.

2016 Transits for Scorpio

Leo 10th house: Rahu conjunct retrograde Jupiter (full Moon February 24th)

Rahu comes into the 10th house with Jupiter. Rahu will being some intensity to public life and a drive for pubic recognition. Jupiter, as owner of the 5th house transiting the 5th sign will bring extra energy to this desire for recognition. Since that fifth house is 8th from the 10th changes in career could come with some suddenness or unexpected. The Sun look on his own house should also be positive for 10th house thru his transit in Aquarius. Saturn is also looking at the 10th which is sure to take some of the joy from your occupation especially when the moon goes full in Leo late February.

Rahu can also bring some desire into the 2nd house which suggests a phase of gathering, collecting and saving; or at least the appearance of having done so. Rahu is always much more concerned with appearance than actual substance, though he does not deny accumulation of substance either. Rahu’s look at the 6th house will be driving the lower ego to be more challenging. It’s this 9th look on the 6th house that competes for a place in tenth house. Since Rahu is in the 10th house, the 2nd and 6th work to improve his 10th house standing. Perhaps trying to show a successful face to the world thru 2nd house and competing thru 6th house in order to gain in public recognition.

Aquarius 4th house with Ketu (Conjunct Sun mid-February to mid-March, Eclipse March 6th. New moon on March 9th will have Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, & Ketu all conjunct in the 4th house.)

Ketu will be in the 4th house, transforming ones sense of home. But Ketu doesn’t work for change with the same intensity as Rahu; Ketu rather fills a person with ennui so that change comes thru a feeling of familiarity and already having known and done that. Ketu often shoes us the lessons we’ve already learned and have no interest in repeating. But he still cuts our ties to things in his own subtle way, especially when he’s associated with the Sun, who he will be eclipsing in early March, and Mars who will be looking at the 4th house from his powerful transit thru 1st house Scorpio. Changes could also come sudden to 4th house in a transformation way that leaves one unable to go back to the way things used to be.

Ketu affects the Moksha – Liberation trine here which could limit your peace of mind as you struggle and compete for Rahu’s indications. It might not be a great time for “letting go” since you’re likely to feel as though you’ve already experienced that path. Mars and Ket will also be looking at the 8th house of Gemini, and when Mercury conjoins Ketu in early March, one could experience some sudden events in the home and/or in ones emotional being. With Ketu’s involvement it’s possible you might accept these changes without being disturbed by them so much and Ketu can repress or negate ones emotional life. Ketu, like Rahu, can often give an appearance without the inner substance, so watch for insincere outpourings of emotion as well. Ketu’s 9th look at the 12th house can open up the dream world or at least give the impression that he has entered that world, but again, with been-there-done-that kind of attitude.

Saturn conjunct Mars in 1st house Scorpio

Saturn is seeking to limit the personality, dry it out and make one seem a little dry and uninteresting, perhaps a little reserved and traditional. His transit through a person ascendant often makes people appear older than they actually are (at least for the period of transit). Mars will be in his own house when he conjoins Saturn which will of course energize the personality, and perhaps his conflict with Saturn will add some mystique (Scorpio) qualities to ones personality at this time. Saturn’s 3rd look will help to give durable effort and could add a touch of duty to ones efforts. It’s also a good time to focus some effort on ones own self health since first house signifies these things as does the 6th house which is ruled by Mars who is also in the first house. Saturn and Mars are both looking at the 7th house which is sure to have a frustrating effect to trade, relationships, partnerships and other such things that people come together in agreement. Saturn’s 10th look will make you work hard in the tenth house things and could delay or change advancement of recognition from 10th house. This aspect will certainly make you work for what you want. This is one of the ways that Saturn shows us the things we really want. Thru failure we discover very quickly if we have the determination to try again for what we really want.

Planetary Transits for Leo Ascendant early 2016: Rahu & Ketu in Leo & Aquarius; Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio

Planetary Transits for Leo Ascendant: Rahu & Ketu in Leo & Aquarius; Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio

Jupiter conjunct Rahu in 1st house Leo (Guru Chandal Yoga)

While Jupiter in the first house for Leo ascendant is generally very favorable since his benefic effects will be felt in the 1st, 5th, 7th and 9th houses: Magnanimous personality and good health, humanistic thinking, expansive trade and benefic partners, as well as good fortune. Ones self, as well as ones children, spouse, and father all normally reap the rewards of Jupiter in 1st house. However when Rahu also moves into the first house to conjunct Jupiter some difficulties will arise due to Guru chandal yoga which clouds our intelligence. Jupiter’s retrograde motion in the first quarter of the year will already be affecting your plans, so combined with Rahu’s affect your personality is likely to suffer due to some error in judgement and clouded thinking. Guru chandal yoga could also relate to excessive pride or greed which generally means that this combination generally remains good for material gain. Saturn’s malefic 10th aspect on the 1st house combined with Rahu will also increase fear and worry. During the full moon also in first house at the end of February, one could be quite reactionary and there could be changes in the personality.

Rahu’s look your 5th house will intensify the mind and increase production though perhaps not in the healthiest manner. Children could be negatively affected by Rahu’s aspect. Jupiter is also the natural karaka for children conjunct Rahu and aspected by Saturn, so children and wealth could both be a concern for you throughout this transiting period. The same could also be said about father as Jupiter is also karaka of the father and the 9th house, the house of the father which is also receiving an aspect from Rahu. The sun will also be going thru some difficult transits from mid-January to mid-April and will be significantly affected by a solar eclipse a few days before the new Moon on March 9th.

Ketu in 7th house Aquarius

Ketu could make you take your relationships and partnerships of granted at this time. Sitting in the middle of the desire triangle (houses 3, 7, & 10) he will have a strong spiritualizing influence on your desires. This, of course, is not what most people want so Ketu is considered to cause difficulties from the 7th house. Something strange could come into your relationship, or, if you’re dating, you could choose a partner who is very different from yourself; someone who makes your friends question your choice or perhaps laugh a little at your partners expense. He or she is not likely to be like you at all. Marriage partners on the other hand, could decide to take up some strange new hobby or interest that seems to change their personality over night. Ketu’s look at the 11th house can add this strangeness top your friends as well as opening up a time for you to do some of the hobbies and forge new kinds of friendships that you’ve possibly been avoiding out of fear of what your friends might think.

The Sun will conjunct Ketu from mid-February until mid-March, and in early March the sun will experience a total eclipse a few day before the New Moon on March 9th. Actually, all of the plants will be effecting Aquarius around this time, for Leo Ascendant this means there will be a lot of activity in regards to relationships and partnerships, trade and contracts. It’s likely to be a time period you remember for a long time. Suns aspect on his own 1st house of Leo will be positive for position and prestige; especially around the time of the full moon on February 24th. Partnerships could however suffer from the Suns cruel heat, Ketu’s explosiveness and Mars’ fire. Watch for significant events in regards to partnerships, contracts, and trade from Leo countries.

Saturn in 4th house Scorpio

Saturn is not well placed for home happiness, the comforts of home, emotions or mother. For Leo ascendants, Saturn is karaka of enmity due to his ownership of the 6th house, and he becomes maraka thru ownership of 7th house. Saturn is sure to bring problems and fighting into the home, especially when his enemy Mars conjoins Saturn in the 4th. Saturn is known to restrict his emotional expression, while Mars can explode with passion or frustration. Mercuries transit thru the 6th house in the early part of the year can influence fighting about money, while Venus could bring in fights about hobbies and occupation (or employment). However, the sign of Scorpio in the 4th house usually means that you prefer to keep affairs of the home at home; these moods that we develop in the home do, however, reflect into the public sphere of the 10th house. Saturn could influence longer hours and more attention focused on our occupation. Over working can however cause health problems indicated by the 6th house (Saturn’s 3rd aspect): exhaustion, stress, lack of joy (all of which will likely be very well managed by Saturn who is also owner of the 6th house. The effects of this Saturn will likely build up until the end of the transit and if nothing is done, then Saturn will begin to show the deeper symptoms of his gaze.

Transits for Taurus in early 2016

I’ve tried to limit my forecast to the four slow moving planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu), while also highlighting the sign change of Rahu and Ketu. I have occasionally mentioned a few of the other transits that will be effecting things, but this evaluation is none the less far from complete. If you’re interested in a more complete reading please contact me with your date, time and place of birth.

Rahu & Jupiter in Leo

As Rahu moves into the 4th house of Leo for Taurus ascendant or those with moon in Taurus, he will bring his clouded ways into your home and your happiness, affecting your mood and possibly your mother’s health. Rahu’s new drishti on 8th and 12th houses could add some overseas or foreign travel to your itinerary over the next 18 months, but he can also cause problems from sudden or unexpected events and/or wasteful expenditure. His conjunction with the retrograde owner of 8th house Sagittarius (Jupiter) could prove especially malefic due to his very power control over Jupiter. Guru Chandal Yoga corrupts the guru, the teacher, the counselor; it must affect even more when Guru is walking backwards (retro) as he will be until April. Some might take comfort that Jupiter is also giving a positive look to overseas and foreign travel.

Jupiter in Leo

I’ve written elsewhere about the negative effects on Jupiter in the 4th house when Rahu conjoins him there in January, but Jupiter will still be showering his benevolence on the 8th house which could allow for some new discoveries in the home, while his look on the 12th house could open up some fresh expenditure perhaps for charity or perhaps for the expansion in the home that could suddenly seem to be going awry.

Saturn in Scorpio

Saturn will be in 7th house Scorpio for Taurus people. He will be looking at the 9th, 1st, and 4th houses. His main activity will be to delay partnerships and give a strong commitment to them when he does move into one. A owner of the 9th and 10th house he could bring both a working relationship to partnerships as well as cooperation regarding law and spirituality. His look on the 9th house is likely to have the effect of strengthening ones religious resolve, while his look on the first house could cause some health problems and perhaps even causing people to view your personality as being a bit rigid. Once Rahu moves into Leo at the end of January, his look will come off the 1st house which is certain to be positive for the health, though Saturn may still cause some suffering. Saturn’s look at the forth house and Rahu and Jupiter who are transiting the 4th house is likely to cause difficulties in the home and could affect your mothers health. By the 24th of February when the full moon conjoins Rahu and Jupiter there is sure to be a situation for sadness (Saturn), frustration (Rahu) and feelings of helplessness as moon rules the 3rd house of efforts. Jupiter is helpless in this situation and even worse, he could be offering corrupt self serving advice just as Dronacharya (the guru) did to Eklavya (the out-caste student) when he told him to cut off his own thumb.

Ketu in Aquarius

Ketu in Aquarius (10th house for Taurus people) will negate your career and reputation. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t have a career, it just won’t feel like it matters to you at this time. Your occupation could be feeling routine and perhaps bringing with it some boredom as as though you’ve perhaps outgrown it. Of course while the Sun transits Aquarius from mid-February to mid-March with Mars looking on from the seventh house, the conditions will be ripe for explosive situations to occur in you career, occupation, or just in the public sphere. Changes to 10th house affairs could certainly occur quickly. Ketu will be looking at you 2nd house restricting your savings (perhaps even cutting into it while Mars transits Scorpio and Sagittarius since the 2nd house will be getting drishti from Ketu and Mars both during this period. Ketu’s drishti on the 6th house Libra is a time to take special care of your health since Ketu’s influence could cause you to disregard symptoms that could be pointing to more serious issues. You might also be disinclined to end contacts or partnerships at this time despite difficult and frustrations posed by Mars coming conjunct with Saturn in Scorpio. If you do decide to complete some contract, it likely won’t be anything you loose sleep over.

March 2016 Notes

A solar eclipse takes place on March 6th and then a few days later the moon goes dark. On March 9th, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Ketu will all be in Aquarius (the 10th house for Taurus Ascendent) for the new moon. Rahu and Jupiter (still retro, sill Guru Chandal Yoga) will be look across from Leo, and Mars will be giving his 4th look while conjunct Saturn in Scorpio. This marks a first rate planetary war in the 10th house Aquarius. Saturn is the only planet that will not have direct influence on the 10th house but will be causing a restricting/delaying effect to partnerships and contracts that is likely to cause frustration considering he’s conjunct his enemy Mars in Mars’ own house. The good news is that Mars, being in his own house, should be able to over come the difficulties. Saturn is also a Raja yoga Karika for Taurus ascendant bringing luck and occupation into whatever house he transits. Be prepared to do some work on your relationships at this time. With all those planets in 10th house we can expect fights over leadership and possibly a change of occupation. Since the 10th is 12th from the 11th your friendships are also likely to get shuffled. It’s perhaps one of those times when we discover who our real friends are.
