Key Points
Easy going, relaxed, dreamy, living in harmony with nature, going with the flow. Dreamy poets or spiritualists who are somewhat disconnected from reality. Like the old man by the sea who remains isolated from everyone staring off into the distance, dreaming, speaking with nature, watching the cycles of time go by, picking up on the patterns, noting the archetype.
They usually have excellent skills of observation without any pressure to take action or respond. They can easily be the detached witness except they are often full of compassion for the weak or less fortunate. They can be criticised for not caring or being too nonchalant about things. Their detachment acts like a protective armour to protect them from the hard lessons that come from facing reality. On the other hand, it’s like they have seen everything already. There really is nothing new under the sun for these folks.
They can be a bit disconnected from reality, perhaps too much isolation, too much time alone. This makes them very accommodating and friendly towards others. They can do good work in the travel industries: drivers, captains, pilots, guides, interpreters. They like both the open road in front of them and a nice steady circular route that brings them back to the same place again and again. They can also be involved in travel and tourism more generally with resorts, hotels, guest houses, sanctuary, places where people go to relax, let go, and leave the past (and perhaps reality generally) behind. This can also get them involved with hospitals, prisons, rehabilitation facilities, safe houses.
Escapist drugs can be a problem; escapism generally. They generally just want to go away and get away; but many might ask if they were ever really here to begin with. These are the folks who get that far off look in their eye and you know they are not looking at anything, they are just spaced out, lacking sleep, on drugs, or really need to get away. Pisces generally have this problem of not really wanting to be here. They say there are fewer Pisces than any other sign. This is most likely because they check out early.
Like other signs, their main aim in life is to embrace the one across from them, in this case it’s earthy, grounded Virgo, who will take the time to fix things instead of throwing them away or running away. Integrating a bit of logic into life will go a long way to allowing these folks to have a long full life. Their struggle with a more logical way of seeing thing, of paying attention tot he small details will be life long. It’s often diagnosed as attention deficit, or some kind of learning disability regardless of how smart these folks are.
They also work well with children and animals who need to be routinely herded this way and that. Teachers of language, poetry, music, literature, mythology, art, symbolic representation generally. It’s like when we show a child a picture of a chair and say: “this is a chair.,” but it’s not actually a chair, it’s a picture (a symbolic representation) of a chair.
We have a bunch of non-sense sounds in language that also have no real meaning though we all know what it means: Ka-pow; vroom vroom; bam, boom, zap and other onomatopoeias that are regularly used. This is similar to the concept of mythology which is never real, but it somehow a closer approximation to reality than anything else. Like the difference between saying the cars got in an accident, or, the cars went bang together. Somehow the childlike version is closer to reality. This is why kids are so smart: they see everything from a really wide angle through their imagination. It’s like they don’t see things just yet, just the fuzzy outline; the close approximation.
This is similar to what we see with artist who have placements here; they are often working with abstract forms: expressionism, cubism, surrealism, even their “realistic” looking art is likely to have mythological or universal motifs that transcend the the norms and carry the viewer or the listener to another place, or another time.
They can be rather casual or dismissive of facts. This helps with art and literature, but they also use this to dive into history and seek to reinterpret the established facts which can be nice for story telling, but might miss the mark for historical accuracy. This basically describes all of the arts & humanities. Too casual, too easy going, one thing can mean anything. They are living somewhere out in the ether; spacey.
These natives can have a reply spiritual side to them. This idea of helping others cross to the other side can make them rather compassionate councillors, good listeners, and good advisors in that they are unlikely to give direct advice, but rather some ideas from which the native can discover their own direction from it. Astrology can also be easily understood by these people.
In some sense the whole Zodiac, the whole cycle, the cycles of nature can be easily understood by these folks who watch. They saw what happened in the past so they know what will happen in the future: same-same but different. Their language is symbols, archetypes, universal themes. They can talk on pretty much any topic in a generally way, but they might also be prone to overextend their generalisations so that they become tropes or stereotypes. They can generally be seen to be tolerant people, generally speaking, but they do need to also understand that in particular cases, the stereotypes do not often ring true. Generally speaking woman are weak; but try telling that to any particular woman.
But one of the main roles of these folks is protecting the weak, sheltering the helpless like Noah did with his arch and the animals. They are usually warm and friendly, they keep things light and philosophical. I have mentioned Vijnana Bhairava in other places, but here too it fits since it teaches up to pay attention to the space between things, the ether, the gaps, the relationships between things rather than the things themselves. A good mystic is watching the patterns, and the connections between things, synchronicity, coincidences, the subtleties that are all represented in Revati.
If you want to learn meditation, Revati natives are probably the best you can find: the detached witness perspective; it’s a beautiful thing from a spiritual perspective, but they might have a hard time fitting into society. They have to integrate the other signs, especially Virgo into their life in order to balance their spiritual nature with practical realities and taking care of the little things in life. This is why it can be so good for them to work with children or animals, to actively offer selfless service to those less fortunate in order to stay grounded
In some cases, we find people who go far away from their work, or are completely absorbed in their work or their own life in such a way that they seem to be living on another planet. Many of them practically live on the road as nomads migrating from place to place. There is plenty of symbolism of the path, the camino, the way, the tao. They can be conductors, way showers, teachers who are accommodating to everyone without seeking the conformity of Aquarius. Leaders who have the privilege of leading by consensus rather than majority; which is usually only possibly in a community that shares similar beliefs. We usually cannot rely on these natives for any kind of productive work.
But there is also a sense of breaking away from all of that, the separation of two fish swimming in opposite directions; dissolution, dissolving into the ocean; into the dream space, into the deep unconscious that Carl Jung sought to access through fantasy fulfilment, dream analysis, art therapy and other unorthodox psychological techniques. This is where our memories go for really long term storage, this is the stuff we know but we don’t know that we know. In this regard, and with Mercury rulership, it likely connects with the sense of smell and well as with the sense of hearing.
In this regards there we might say there is some hidden Venus influence on this nakshatra since it’s so connected with the senses and with the subtle essence of things. There is not nakshatra more subtle than Revati, though harsh planets here will be less subtle. Some connecting it with the subtle cloud of stars the wall the milky way which also connects it to the mystic Ketu. But this is a nourishing nakshatra. Their compassionate urge to help those less fortunate can lead to adoption of children or of animals. We might again appeal to the image of Noah’s arch; an absolute zoo. This doesn’t preclude them from having their own children. They often come from a wealthy family that allows them the space to disconnect from reality and live in their own fantasy world. They can be quite childlike themselves.
Pashupatinath, the lord of animals, like Rudra, the lord of beasts 72 degrees away, but more domestic animals, a gentler caregiving relationship with animals in contrast to the Hunter who is also potentially being hunted. This more of the energy of a shepherd and his flocks, someone who guards over their movable wealth. They will also like to remain mobile, migrating with the flock. They can be very helpful to other travellers or sentient beings they meet on the way. As they get older they will have friends everywhere. Animal whisperers, veterinary medicine, animal protection. St. Francis Assisi was most likely a Revati ascendant.
Conductor, trail guide, herdsman, the way shower, skills trainers showing people how to do things, hostess showing people to their table, working in the travel business showing people the way, teachers or mentors who try to show the way for the next generation. They don’t just show the steps but they offer some broader wisdom through the little things they do. Pied Piper. Leading people away from harm. Caring for the weak and defenceless generally. May advocate for families in general. Lyrically, using symbols and meter music in order to express those things that are so difficult to express in words.
Revati represents Brahma Loka where time moved differently. Hours can go by in the blink of an eye.
Consensus, concurrence, consistency revolution, revolve, review, rev, transcend. The conductor, the guiding, the Shepard, the helmsman, the pastor, the reverend, the revered one, street preacher. Trident Power.

Qualities of Revati
Shiva/Dissolution: A destructive nakshatra that brings things to fruition. Complete dissolution.
Shudra: These folks are often servants of god; they are often dedicated to the well being of humanity. It’s their duty to show the way through the fog.
Moksha: They are motivated by release, liberation, acceptance. Expenditure, loss and freedom are major themes. They seek to go deep beneath the surface.
Space: Fully pervasive, stable, subtle, light. Space cooperates with all. We really find the full expression of Jupiter’s etherial element here. This is a gaseous atmosphere where the essences make themselves felt.
Mridu – Soft / Mild: Gentle like a great ox standing in the shade waiting for his cart to be loaded. There is no rush, no urgency, and nothing more that needs to be done; just close your eyes let go of the world and float off into a dream. This might be one of the most peaceful, easy-going nakshatra’s of the zodiac. These folks like to enjoy themselves; care free. The Moon’s transit here are good days for peaceful, easy activities; nothing that will rock the boat. Mrigasirsha, Chitra, Anuradha are the other Nakshatras that share this temperament. Friday’s are also meant to be a little relaxed.
Kapha: Water + Earth = Cool, oily, heavy, stable, slow, soft, gross, sticky/cloudy, smooth. Stable, slow, methodical, greedy. Disturbed by sweet (Jupiter), salty (Moon), sour (Venus). Pacified by pungent (Sun) and astringent (Saturn).
Triyanga Mukha – Facing Straight Ahead (Level): This is a level-headed and forward looking position. It’s good for mundane, everyday tasks that allow us to prepare for the future. This nakshatra promotes an honest, broadminded, paternal perspective of life. The whole theme of this nakshatra is giving direction so one would hope they are seeing the road and not just the ground at their feet. The playing field is the same for everyone here. It can be a good time to start surveying, building, Ashwini, Mrigasirsha, Punarvasu, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Jyeshta and Revati are all forward looking.
Balanced: Here we find the balanced approach. Allows free will and fate to meet in the middle.
Deva: The planets relating with the Devas will promote more refined and righteous behaviour; but may struggle with pride and entitlement. They are more capable of understanding the subtitles of life. These folks are certainly living on a different plain. This is also used in chart matching. They say it’s best if both parties belong to the same tribe (8 points). However, they say that a deva and a rakshasa will get one point for the attraction of opposites). This is a very important classification suggesting that the way these three tribes (devas, humans & rakshasa) live is so different as to have a major effect on marriage compatibility and living together.
Sattvic: Tendency towards purity, harmony, truthfulness, sincerity, peacefulness. They tend to have a optimistic attitude.. The activity of planets in this asterism act as an instrument of the divine. Their inspiration ultimately comes from the soul. They usually recognise that purity needs to be achieved within ourselves which somehow sets them up for a struggle between the ideal and the reality.
Female: Planets placed here might show more female characterises. Feminine planets are said to perform better here and live signifiers of the planets or house will be more likely to show female characterises.
East: results may be seen in or from the eastern direction. Spiritual practices related to this nakshatra can be performed while face east.
Sage Kratu
“The one who inspires.”
He was first born as a mind born son of Brahma; born of his hand. He married to Kriya, daughter of Kardama in his first life. By blessing of Lord Shiva they had 60 000 children together. They all became hermits called Balakhilyas; a species of human no bigger than the joint of the thumb.
In his second life he became an unmarried Sanyasi, a child of Sage Bhṛgu and a deva. He’s seated in Bhuva loka. He had no children of his own in this second life. He only adopted the son of sage Agastya.
Sage Kratu was present at the birth-celebrations of both Arjuna & Skanda. He visited Bhīṣma when he was lying on the bed of arrows awaiting death. It was Sage Kratu who convinced Sage Parashara to cease his the Rakshasa Sattra; the sacrificial fire ritual he was performing to kill all the Rakshasas who were drawn to his fire like moths to a flame. This say this is the siddhi we get when we do trataka; people are drawn to us.
Sage Kratu was in the company of Bharata when he recited the Naaṭya Veda, the star of performing arts, which tells of the character of the god who appears in the Pūrvaraṅga; the preliminaries before a theatre performance is to begin. The purpose for music an theatre and the timing. Why here? Why now? He tells us how to please the gods of the senses and the emotions that are so hard at work in theatre. Why does the Director being himself clean, perform ablution again on the stage? He describes how the drama has come to earth from the heavens. He outlined the rules for composing dramatic plays (nataka) and poetic works (kavya). Naṭya refers generally to theatrics, drama, dance, music. He is also said to be the author of a Dharma Shastras: Parashara Smrti & Shudra Dharma Tattva.
Kratu is the name of a Pratyeka Buddha mentioned as attending the teachings in the 6th century Manjushreemulakalpa: one of the largest Kriya Tantras devoted to Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom which is concerned with ritualistic elements in Buddhism.
Female Elephant:
Males and females usually live separately, with the females forming matriarchal groups with the leader directing the route to all the others.
Musth: Means ‘intoxicated’ in Hindi. This happens when the bull elephants’ testosterone spikes making them hyper-aggressive and increasing their power so that even smaller bulls can occasionally defeat larger, older males in the fight for dominance that allows them to mate with females who are in oestrus. It only lasts for a few days. A gland between their eye and their ear swells and releases a sticky dark liquid with a strong smell. Their urine which dribbles from them also releases a foul hormonal fragrance.
The male elephant penis can be up to four feet long while the female reproductive canal can be up to 8 feet long. Females are usually only fertile for a few days of their four month oestrus cycle. These are usually the later days in order to increase the chances of reproduction with the strangest and most dominant male capable of defeating all the rest. Males only mate when they are musthing, which leaves very small windows for natural selection to work and maintain the diversity of the herds.
Males may “flirt” by offering food to the female and by probing their vulva and inspecting their urine. He might even chase her around for a short time, but there is relatively little foreplay and the mounting only lasts a couple of minutes. They will hang out together afterwards swishing their tails and wrap their trunks around each other. The female will have many partners during the time she is in oestrus. Oestrus cycle only happens every 4-6 years. Male also have their musth periods governed by nature so that only a few have it at any given time. Both genders emit a variety of vocalisations throughout the mating period: predominantly described as a low growl or a rumble.
Ganesha was an elephant, and Indra, Balarama, Skanda, Aiyanar all rode elephants. Elephants guard and support the world in the four cardinal directions. As many as sixteen elephants. They are said to cause earthquakes when they move. They support the milky way disk which bulges in the middle from the tortoiseshell and the milky way itself swirling like snakes wrapped around it. We find these three (elephant, tortoise, snakes) supporting the world in multiple myths. They are all in place just below the surface in the myth of the churning of the ocean. Gaja, the traditional word for elephant, relates to Gaia and the milky way. Elephants personify a number of positive attributes including fertility and richness; boldness and strength; and wisdom and royalty.
Airavata, who emerged from the churning of the Ocean of Milk, was the first elephant. He became the mount of Indra and had the same name as Drona’s son, which gave Yudhisthira just enough of a loophole to say that Airavata was dead. Drona assumed it was his own son who had died and this broke his morale and he soon stopped fighting.
Honey Tree: Madhuca Longifolia
Oils in the tree can be used for soaps and detergents, for the skin or eaten as a veritable oil. This oil can also be used as fuel for burning or as an anti-corrosion resin. The seed cakes that are left over after teh oil has been extracted makes excellent fertiliser. The flowers are red to make alcohol. The leaves are often fed to goats. A special type of moth also feeds on this tree in order to produce Vassar silk. The flowers are so sweet that they can be used directly as a sweetener; but they will make you go a bit crazy. The Government of India reports: “Mahua oil has emollient properties and is used in skin disease, rheumatism and headache. It is also a laxative and considered useful in habitual constipation, piles and haemorrhoids and as an emetic. Native tribes also used it as an illuminant and hair fixer.”
The Mahua alcohol which is made from this is essential for many tribal festivals. “Kali who is seated on a red lotus in full bloom, her beautiful face radiant, watching Mahākāla, who, drunk with the delicious wine of the Madhuka flower, is dancing before her.” — Mahānirvaņa Tantra

Special Considerations
Revati is a Ganda-Moola nakshatra It sits on a junction point of fire and water. It’s inauspicious placement. Forcing some kind of psychological detachment upon us.
Venus is exalted in the 4th pada at 27º Pisces.
Planing the Transit: Auspicious Activities
Muhurtha – Electional Astrology
Revati is a nice light, airy, ethereal nakshatra. It’s a good day to watch the clouds or contemplate the stars. Anything to do with arts, literature, poetry, music, or other light free abstract, mythological or fantastic expressions of the truth, the light the way. Just let go a go with the herd dissolve your individuality, your ego, any sense of superiority into the great ocean, the great sky, space. We are all just a tiny spec in time in space; give honour to the universe by letting go of your control. Allow yourself to be guided, or guide & shepard others, work with children doing art or crafts. The energy here is like a warm Sunday in spring; what would you do?
Gods & Symbols of Revati
Revati
Revati is the daughter of King Kakudmi, consort of Balarama. As the only daughter she was so dear to her father that nobody could ever measure up to the standards he set for her. She accompanied him to Brahma Loka to negotiate her marriage to a suitable suitor. But there was a concert playing so they waited for it to end before approaching Brahma. He merely laughed and pointed out how time moves differently in different realms (loca). An incredible amount of time had passed on earth in the short time they had been in heaven. Everyone she had ever known had long since perished. But since Vishnu was currently roaming the earth as Krishna and Balarama, she could likely be married to the latter. Upon their return to earth they were disappointed to discover that humans and society in general had become “dwindled in stature, reduced in vigour, and enfeebled in intellect.” She was of much greater stature than Balarama due to the changing times. He merely tapped her on the head with his plough (the weapon he was well known for) and she shrunk down to average size and they were soon married. She bore him two sons who were killed in the Yadu fratricidal war, after which Balarama came to his end during meditation by the sea. Revati is also associated with Durga and the Yoginis, or with Aditi, the mother of the 12 Adityas.
Balarama
Teh husband of Revati * the elder brother of Lord Krishna. He is also connected to Ashlesha nakshatra in Cancer. He is the god of the plow, agriculture and strength and he carried with him a mace and most famously a plough. He wore blue, kept his hair tied up in a top knot, and wore jewellery in his ears and arms. He had a light complexion in contrast to Krishna’s black colour, Some believed him to be an avatar of Shesha; the customary shiva character to help the Vishnu avatar, in this case Krishna, complete his mission. His followers were described as ascetic monks with shaved heads or braided hair. His image is found on numerous ancient coins.
Balarama was the son of Vasudeva. The evil king Kansa was intent on killing all of Vasudev’s children because of a prediction that he would die at the hands of his sister’s 8th child. (Of course his sister was Vasudev’s wife and Balarama’s mother.) But Vishnu intervened when Balarama was conceived and the embryo was moved to the womb of Rohini, who was Vasudeva’s first wife. (Due to this Balarama is sometimes known as “the one who was dragged away.”) Balarama grew up with Krishna in the family of cow herdsmen. He killed an Asura who came after him and dispatched a couple of wrestlers as well. He used his plough to dig a mighty trench for the Yamuna to come through Vrindavan, and then pulled the entire capital Hastinapur into the Ganges.
He studied under sage Sandipani. The three boys who were studying understood their lessons immediately. They offered their guru anything. The Guru asked to be reunited with his boy who had gone missing by the sea. They were able to recover the boy from “the conch demon.”
Although Balarama taught both Duryodhana and Bhima how to use the mace, he remained neutral throughout the war. Actually he went on pilgrimage when the war started and returned just in time to see the battle between his two disciples. Bhima was eventually victorious when he struck the thigh which Duryodhana had exposed and rudely offered to Drupati. Balarama then went to Somnath and died in a meditative state near the sea. A white snake is said to have left his body and returned to Patala loka through a cave entrance.
“Because Balarama, the son of Rohini, increases the transcendental bliss of others, his name is Rama and because of his extraordinary strength, he is called Baladeva. He attracts the Yadus to follow his instructions and therefore his name is Sankarshana.” — Bhagavata Purana, 10.8.12
“When his elder brother, fatigued from playing, would lie down with his head upon the lap of a cowherd boy, Lord Kṛiṣṇa would help him relax by personally massaging his feet and offering other services.” — Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 10, Chapter 15, Verse 14
Pushan
Om pooshne namah
The nurturer and protector of travellers, animals, herds and the flock. The conductor, the guide. Being one of the Adityas, he is associated with the Sun. The Aditya, the shining light who shows the path to others. Likes to guide others. They often have pets and will like mundane activities like walking the dog, feeding the animals or shepherding children or humans. The shepherd; the ferryman longing to cross over. He is represented as having lost his teeth and living on a kind of gruel. The ferry man who carries us to the other side.
1 Shorten our ways, O Pūṣan, move aside obstruction in the path: Go close before us, cloud-born God. 2 Drive, Pūṣan, from our road the wolf, the wicked inauspicious wolf, Who lies in wait to injure us. 3 Who lurks about the path we take, the robber with a guileful heart: Far from the road chase him away. 4 Tread with thy foot and trample out the firebrand of the wicked one, The double-tongued, who ever he be. 5 Wise Pūṣan, Wonder-Worker, we claim of thee now the aid wherewith Thou furtheredst our sires of old. 6 So, Lord of all prosperity, best wielder of the golden sword, Make riches easy to be won. 7 Past all pursuers lead us, make pleasant our path and fair to tread: O Pūṣan, find thou power for this. 8 Lead us to meadows rich in grass: send on our way no early heat: O Pūṣan, find thou power for this. 9 Be gracious to us, fill us full, give, feed us, and invigorate: O Pūṣan, find thou power for this. 10 No blame have we for Pūṣan; him we magnify with songs of praise: We seek the Mighty One for wealth.
HYMN CXXXVIII. Pūṣan.
1 STRONG Pūṣan’s majesty is lauded evermore, the glory of his lordly might is never faint, his song of praise is never faint. Seeking felicity I laud him nigh to help, the source, of bliss, Who, Vigorous one, hath drawn to him the hearts of all, drawn them, the Vigorous One, the God. 2 Thee, then, O Pūṣan, like a swift one on his way, I urge with lauds that thou mayst make the foemen flee, drive, camel-like, our foes afar. As I, a man, call thee, a God, giver of bliss, to be my Friend,So make our loudly-chanted praises glorious, in battles make them glorious. 3 Thou, Pūṣan, in whose friendship they who sing forth praise enjoy advantage, even in wisdom, through thy grace, in wisdom even they are advanced. So, after this most recent course, we come to thee with prayers for wealth. Not stirred to anger, O Wide-Ruler, come to us, come thou to us in every fight. 4 Not stirred to anger, come, Free-giver, nigh to us, to take this gift of ours, thou who hast goats for steeds, Goat-borne! their gift who long for fame. So, Wonder-Worker! may we turn thee hither with effectual lauds. I slight thee not, O Pūṣan, thou Resplendent One: thy friendship may not be despised.
Charon
The Ferry man of Hades who takes the souls who have been given funeral rights across the rivers Styx & Acheron. The dead who could not pay the fee, and those who had received no funeral rites, had to wander the near shores of the Styx for one hundred years before they were allowed to cross the river. Charon also ferried the living mortals Heracles and Aeneas to the underworld and back again. He was represented as a morose and grisly old man. On the earlier such vases, he looks like a rough, unkempt Athenian seaman dressed in reddish-brown, holding his ferryman’s pole in his right hand and using his left hand to receive the deceased. “There Charon stands, who rules the dreary coast; A sordid god: down from his hairy chin. A length of beard descends, uncombed, unclean; His eyes, like hollow furnaces on fire; A girdle, foul with grease, binds his obscene attire.” Dante depicts him as having eyes of fire; the first mythological character he meets on his decent into hell. Elsewhere, Charon appears as a mean-spirited and gaunt old man or as a winged demon wielding a double hammer, although Michelangelo’s interpretation, influenced by Dante’s depiction in the Inferno, shows him with an oar over his shoulder, ready to beat those who delay. In modern times he is depicted as a skeleton in a cowl like the Grim Reaper. They used to put a coin in the mouth of the deceased in order to pay the ferry tole. Some living humans have been said to have visited Hades and returned to tell about it. For this feat they attain immortality.
Psychopomp: Charon and Pushan are associated with the spirits that guide the souls of the dead from earth to afterlife. Tarakeshwara is another form of Shiva that is said to carry redeemed souls to heaven. The Taraka (ferryboat) mantra can be used to carry departing souls to moksha, and it’s said that when you die in Varanasi you will hear shiva reciting these mantras. “Om Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama” was taught to Parvati by Shiva.
Pashupati
The lord of animals. Sovereignty. Protector of herds and movable wealth. Faces the five directions & rules over the five elements. He is often compared to Rudra, Shiva’s form as the lord of beasts. The difference being is that Pashupati is connected with domesticated animals and moveable wealth. Pashupati is the headman rather than the hunter. But he is also the one who shepards souls in their after life. At least this is suggested by the infamous cremation grounds in Kathmandu called Pashupatinath. Rudra carries the energy from universe to particular; Pashupati carries the soul from the particular to the universal.
The five faces of Pashupatinath represent various incarnations of Shiva: Sadyojata (west), Vamdeva (north), Tatpurusha (east), Aghor (south) & Ishana (the zenith). They represent the five primary elements namely earth, water, air, fire (light) & ether. We might take a closer look at Ishana who represents the subtlest force of the individual existence: imagination, but it’s said to be unknowable even to the great seers. The Pashupati seal was found in the earliest India Valley civilisations and it’s often considered to be an early version of lord Shiva. Pashupati is also the guardian of Nepal, and th eNepalese are proud to report that they were never conquered by the British.
The story of Pashupati Nath begins when Shiva & Parvati transform into deer and run away to the mountains of the north. Some say they came to Kathmandu Valley. In any case, with the royal couple missing, the seers went looking for them and found them here. But Shiva did not want to return to his Devine form and tried to run away, but one of the Rishis grabbed him by the horn and the horn broke into four pieces which became four lingams. One of them is the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu. Shiva did agree to attend to his divine duties, but would also remain living g in the forest as a deer. This seems to connect Revati with both Ardra and Mrigashirsa.
Pan
The god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, rustic music and impromptus, and companion of the nymphs. He is also recognized as the god of fields, groves, wooded glens, and often affiliated with sex; because of this, Pan is connected to fertility and the season of spring. Both Pan and Pushan are associated with goats and goat herding. The word pan likely relates with the Shepard who watches over the flocks. It likely has some root relation with the word ‘companion.’
Pan is a rustic the forest deity playing the reed pipes and charming all the ladies with his bad-boy ways and strong musk. Half goat, half man, a heart friend to Dionysus, a drinker of wine, rough talker with many exciting tales which may or may not be true. This also point us towards the goat skins that are most commonly used to make drums. Or the innards which were once used to make strings for the harp or the lyre.
Pan did not have formal temples dedicated to him, he was typically worshiped in a cave or some special natural place. “The Great Pan is dead:” this has been interpreted numerous ways. Pan is sometimes translated as ‘all,’ so all is lost, everyone is dead or he who is all is dead. Some suggest that this was news of Christs death. Others say that Pan died so that Christianity could rise. Pan, with his goatish ways, is often compared to the devil.
Poseidon
God of the oceans, like Neptune. Carried a trident, a Trishula: the 3 that come together to make the one which is born to start the next cycle. He rules over the sea, storms, earthquakes and horses. {Protector of seafarers. He was known as ‘Earth Shaker’ and was venerated as a horse and was known as the tamer of horses. Wherever he struck the earth with his trident, a spring would pour forth. We should note that the Greek words for horse & spring are very similar. He is said to live in the legendary city of Atlantis. He is known to send devastating floods when he is not properly worshiped.
The origin of the name Poseidon is unclear, but it likely relates with ‘lord’ or ‘husband’ of the earth; which would connect him with Demeter the Earth Mother. As lord of the waters he was seen to surround and protect the earth; but also had the ability to shake it. He was also considered by some to be the Master of the Underworld and in this capacity is associated with Anax. He was also known as the leader of the nymphs. He was associated with bulls and horses which are again associated with the wild nature of the seas. But he wasn’t’t just associated with salt water, inlanders connected him tot he lakes and rivers and thus to the vegetation, often celebrating both Dionysus and Poseidon with the juice of the vine. He was related to genealogy, and concepts like brotherhood.
Poseidon was born to the Titans Cronus and Rhea, the fifth child out of six, born after Hestia, Demeter, Hera and Hades in that order. Because Poseidon’s father was afraid that one of his children would overthrow him like he had done to his own father, Cronus devoured each infant as soon as they were born. Poseidon was the last one to suffer this fate before Rhea decided to deceive Cronus and whisk the sixth child, Zeus, away to safety, after offering Cronus a rock wrapped in a blanket to eat. Once Zeus was grown, he gave his father a powerful emetic that made him gorge up the children he had eaten. The five children emerged from their father’s belly in reverse order, making Poseidon both the second youngest child and the second oldest at the same time. Armed with a trident forged for him by the Cyclopes, Poseidon with his siblings and other divine allies defeated the Titans and became rulers in their place. According to Homer and Apollodorus, Zeus, Poseidon and the third brother Hades then divided the world between them by drawing lots; Zeus got the sky, Poseidon the sea, and Hades the Underworld.
In another story, Poseidon’s mother saves him as well as Zeus by giving her husband a foal to eat. Poseidon is sent to live with the nymphs watching over a spring, but they deny that he is there and the spring is thereafter known as denial. A third story has him sent to the Island of Rhodes where he is raised by an Ocean nymph. He falls in love with one of the nymphs sister and father’s six sons and one daughter. But it’s not long before Aphrodite is sailing past and is denied hospitality on the Island. She curses the six sons to go mad and rape their own mother.
Poseidon was said to have had many lovers of both sexes. His consort was Amphitrite, a nymph and ancient sea-goddess, daughter of Nereus and Doris. In one account, attributed to Eratosthenes, Poseidon wished to wed Amphitrite, but she fled from him and hid with Atlas. Poseidon sent out many to find her, and it was a dolphin who tracked her down. The dolphin persuaded Amphitrite to accept Poseidon as her husband, and eventually took charge of their wedding. Poseidon then put him among the stars as a reward for his good services. He had over 180 children with over 100 women, gods, mortals and everything in between.
Proteus – Old Man of the Sea
“Proteus of Egypt, the immortal old man of the sea who never lies, who sounds the deep in all its depths, Poseidon’s servant.”
Old man by the sea. Shepard of the sea creatures. It was said he could give answers to any question, but you had to be able to hold onto him as he wiggled and squirmed and took on so many different shapes. Carl Jung defined the mythological figure of Proteus as a personification of the unconscious, who, because of his gift of prophecy and shape-changing, has much in common with the central but elusive figure of alchemy, Mercurius. In medicine, Proteus syndrome refers to a rare genetic condition characterised by symmetric overgrowth of the bones, skin, and other tissues. Organs and tissues affected by the disease grow out of proportion to the rest of the body. This condition is associated with mutations of the PTEN gene.
Jesus, The Good Shepard
This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Woe to you shepherds of Israel who only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock?” Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: “As surely as I live, because my flock lacks a shepherd, and so has been plundered and has become food for all the wild animals, and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock, therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.” — Ezekiel 34
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me — just as the Father knows me and I know the Father — and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father” — John 10:11-18
King David, the house of David, King of Judah 885. A young shepherd and harpist who gains fame by killing Goliath. We read about David in the Books of Samuel. He becomes a favourite of Saul, the first king of Israel, but is forced to go into hiding when Saul becomes paranoid that David is trying to take his throne. He reconciles with Saul when he is hunted in the caves. He has a chance to kill Saul but merely cuts a piece of his robe. He latter uses this piece of cloth to absolve himself, claiming that if he had wanted to kill Saul, he would have do so. After Saul and his son Jonathan are killed in battle, David is anointed king by the tribe of Judah and eventually all the tribes of Israel. He conquers Jerusalem, makes it the capital of a united Israel and brings the Ark of the Covenant to the city. He commits adultery with Bathsheba and arranges the death of her husband, Uriah the Hittite. David’s son Absolam later tries to overthrow him, but David returns to Jerusalem after Absolam’s death to continue his reign. David desires to build a temple to Yahweh but is denied because of the bloodshed in his reign. He dies at age 70 and chooses Solomon, his son with Bathsheba, as his successor instead of his eldest son Adonijah. David is honoured as an ideal king and the forefather of the future Hebrew Messiah in Jewish prophetic literature and many psalms are attributed to him.
A Drum
The wedding drum used to mark time or metre in poetry, marking a beat or pace or a rhythm of time and constant movement.
A Fish
Symbol of spirituality. The fish often comes as the saviour in the final moments; just when all seems lost. Vishnu’s first incarnation was that of a horned fish that guided the boat of Manu to the Himalayas which remained above the water. The fish symbol is one of the earliest of Christianity and was used to mark holy sites. By this point I have noticed that the great crossing points in the heavens all seem to point towards Jesus in some way or other.
Health
Abdominal cavity, groin & ankles
Fish shaped Pancreas: The pancreas is a gland located behind the stomach at the back of the abdominal wall. Extending horizontally, it is shaped like a fish. Some six inches long, the gland has a wide head tapering to a narrow pointed tail. The pancreas contains two separate glands: the exocrine and endocrine glands. The exocrine part produces a cocktail of enzymes that help us digest fat, proteins and carbohydrates in food. These enzymes are released into a tube called the pancreatic duct, which carries the pancreatic juices into the small intestine. Exocrine glands and ducts make up more than 95 per cent of the cells in the pancreas and are the source of the commonest type of pancreatic cancer.A small percentage of pancreatic cells, arranged in clusters, are called endocrine cells and separately manufacture the hormones insulin and glucagon.Almost 15 per cent of cancerous tumours of the pancreas are adenocarcinomas, meaning they originate in the glandular cells lining the pancreatic duct. Some two-thirds of these cancers are found in the head of the pancreas, with about a third developing in the tail of the gland. Smoking and obesity are the biggest risk factors. In terms of symptoms and signs, jaundice, weight loss and pain in the abdomen and back occur most frequently. Other symptoms include weakness, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. Jaundice is caused by the tumour pushing on the bile duct.

Thank you for posting this, I am always seeking more in-depth understanding of astrological placements. Revati is my soul <3
Thank you. I’m just working on slight (but important) revision for the upcoming course on Ayurveda.
This blog post is incredibly detailed and informative, providing a deep dive into the symbolism and characteristics of the Revati nakshatra. The descriptions of the qualities, associations, and influences are engaging and thought-provoking.
I would love to hear more about how these traits manifest in individuals with Revati prominent in their chart. How do these characteristics influence their interactions with others and their life path? Do you have any insights on how individuals with Revati placements navigate challenges or make decisions based on these influences?
The lecture for revati should be coming on my youtube channel soon and there are a few articles about Revati on my website. And much more available in the complete Nakshatra Project PDF
