Hockey goaltender, nicknamed “Eddie the Eagle,” is a Canadian former NHL goaltender and one of the outstanding goalies of his generation. His career is unusual because he was undrafted and a relatively late bloomer, yet went on to record 484 NHL wins, win two Vezina Trophies and a Stanley Cup, and enter the Hockey Hall of Fame. He played junior hockey from 1983–86, then had a spectacular single season at the University of North Dakota, helping them win the 1987 NCAA championship. Chicago signed him as an undrafted free agent in 1987. His breakout NHL season was 1990–91, when he won the Calder Trophy, Vezina Trophy and Jennings Trophy. He won another Vezina in 1993. He was traded to San Jose in 1997, then signed with Dallas later that year. The high point of his career came on June 19, 1999, when the Dallas Stars won the Stanley Cup; Belfour was exceptional during the playoffs, going 16–7 with a 1.67 GAA and making 53 saves in the triple-overtime Cup-clinching game. He was part of Canada’s Olympic gold-medal team in 2002, although he served as a backup and did not play. He subsequently played for Toronto and Florida, then spent a final season in Sweden before retiring in 2008. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011. There is also a conspicuous alcohol/legal theme in his biography that may be useful for rectification: an alcohol-related Dallas incident led to a guilty plea for resisting arrest in 2000; he was arrested following another intoxication-related incident in Florida in 2007; and in January 2020 he was arrested in Kentucky on charges involving public alcohol intoxication and criminal mischief.

His father was a poor African-American sharecropper working in rural Alabama under harsh Jim Crow conditions. Most accounts describe him as physically large, quiet, emotionally distant, and mentally unstable later in life. His father suffered from severe mental illness and was institutionalized when Joe was young. After this, his mother struggled heavily to support the family. Eventually the family moved from Alabama to Detroit during the Great Migration seeking work and survival opportunities.
Sun Mahadasha 1934 – 1940: 1935 was the year Joe Louis exploded into national prominence. On 25 January 1935, he defeated Johnny Paychek in Detroit. On 26 February 1935, he defeated Natie Brown. On 8 March 1935, he knocked out Hans Birkie. The major breakthrough came on 19 June 1935, when Louis defeated former heavyweight champion Primo Carnera at Yankee Stadium in New York. Louis knocked Carnera down three times before winning by knockout in the sixth round. This victory made him a national sensation.
On 18 July 1935, Louis defeated King Levinsky in Chicago by first-round knockout. On 24 September 1935, Louis fought former heavyweight champion Max Baer at Yankee Stadium. Louis dominated Baer and knocked him out in the fourth round. On 15 January 1936, Louis defeated Charley Retzlaff in Chicago. On 17 March 1936, he defeated former heavyweight champion Jack Sharkey.
On 19 June 1936, Louis suffered the first defeat of his professional career against Max Schmeling at Yankee Stadium. Schmeling stopped Louis in the 12th round after exploiting defensive weaknesses. The loss shocked the boxing world because Louis had been heavily favored. The defeat became internationally symbolic as Nazi Germany increasingly promoted Schmeling as proof of Aryan superiority, though Schmeling himself was personally more complicated than the propaganda around him. Following the loss, Louis and his management rebuilt carefully. On 17 August 1936, Louis defeated Jack Sharkey again in an exhibition context while continuing his comeback path.
On 12 January 1937, Louis defeated Bob Pastor at Madison Square Garden. Pastor survived the distance but lost by decision. On 17 February 1937, Louis knocked out Natie Brown. On 7 May 1937, Louis defeated former champion Jim Braddock’s top contenders while negotiations continued for the heavyweight title. The defining moment came on 22 June 1937, when Louis fought James J. Braddock at Comiskey Park in Chicago for the world heavyweight championship. Braddock knocked Louis down early in the fight, but Louis recovered and stopped Braddock in the eighth round. Joe Louis became heavyweight champion of the world. He became the first Black heavyweight champion since Jack Johnson to achieve broad mainstream acceptance in white America.
On 9 February 1938, Louis knocked out Nathan Mann. On 1 April 1938, he defeated Harry Thomas. Then came the defining event. On 22 June 1938, Joe Louis fought Max Schmeling in a rematch at Yankee Stadium in New York. The fight lasted only 2 minutes and 4 seconds of the first round. Louis destroyed Schmeling almost immediately knocking him down repeatedly, battering him against the ropes, and forcing a rapid stoppage. The victory became one of the most politically symbolic sporting moments in American history. With tensions rising before World War II: Louis was celebrated across America as a national hero.

On 20 September 1939, Louis defeated Bob Pastor again at Briggs Stadium in Detroit. On 9 February 1940, Louis fought Arturo Godoy at Madison Square Garden. Godoy’s crouching defensive style frustrated Louis, but Louis retained the title by decision. On 20 June 1940, Louis defeated Godoy again in a rematch, this time more decisively. On 16 December 1940, Louis knocked out Al McCoy.
Jiddu Krishnamurti: Sun aspected by Saturn & Ketu; Mars in Gemini. (See Sun)
His father was a Telugu Brahmin and a low-ranking British colonial government employee working in the Revenue Department in South India. He was traditionally educated, religious, and strongly attached to orthodox Brahmin culture, though later he became involved with the Theosophical Society. His mother, Sanjeevamma, appears to have been the more emotionally and spiritually influential parent. She died in 1905 when Krishnamurti was around ten years old. Her death deeply affected him. His father struggled financially and nn 1909 he moved with his children to Adyar, near Madras (Chennai), seeking work with the Theosophical Society headquarters. That same year, Charles Webster Leadbeater claimed to perceive an extraordinary aura around the young Krishnamurti while he was playing on the beach near the Theosophical compound. Leadbeater and later Annie Besant became convinced Krishnamurti would become the “World Teacher.” From that point onward, the father effectively began losing control over his son’s life.
Narayaniah initially cooperated because he respected Besant, believed the movement could help his sons, and saw opportunity and protection; but later the relationship deteriorated severely. By 1912, Narayaniah had become deeply alarmed by the control the Theosophists exercised over Krishnamurti and his brother Nitya, the separation from family, and concerns about Leadbeater. He filed a legal case against Annie Besant seeking custody of the boys. The case became internationally famous. Initially Narayaniah won in the lower court, but Besant appealed and eventually retained custody. After this, Krishnamurti’s relationship with his father appears to have remained emotionally distant and secondary compared to his connection with.
