Sage Kratu

“The one who inspires.” An aspirant son of Brahma; born of his hand. Married to Kriya, daughter of Kardama in his first life. By blessing of Lord Shiva he had 60 000 children in his first life. The all became hermits called Balakhilyas. They are said to be a species of human no bigger than the joint of the thumb.

In his second life he was born from Sage Bhṛgu and a Deva; he’s said to be seated in Bhuva loka. He became an unmarried Sanyas; adopting only the son of sage Agastya.

Kratu was present at the birth-celebration of Arjuna & Skanda. He went to visit Bhīṣma when he was lying on the bed of arrows awaiting death. It was Sage Kratu who convinced Sage Parashara to cease his the Raksasa Sattra (a sacrificial fire that was killing the Rakshasas like moths to a flame).

Kratu was in the company of Bharata when he recited the Naaṭya Veda “tell us about the character of the god who appears in the Pūrvaraṅga (preliminaries: just before a theatre performance is to begin)? Why is music applied there? What purpose does it serve? What god is pleased with this, and what does he do on being pleased? Why does the Director being himself clean, perform ablution again on the stage? How, O sir, is the drama has been dropped down to the earth from heaven? Why have your descendants come to be known as Shudras?” Natya Shastra is the shastra of performing arts, outlining the rules for composing dramatic plays (nataka) and poetic works (kavya). Naṭya refers generally to theatrics, drama, dance, music. He is also said to be the author of a Dharma Shastras: Parashara Smrti & Shudra Dharma Tattva.

Kratu is the name of a Pratyeka Buddha mentioned as attending the teachings in the 6th century Manjushreemulakalpa: one of the largest Kriya Tantras devoted to Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom which is concerned with ritualistic elements in Buddhism.

Jackfruit
Panasa or artocarpus heterophyllus:

The jackfruit is a popular sweet tasting fruit in the same family as figs and the largest tree fruit in the world. It’s extremely versatile and is sometimes called “the Miracle Crop” by experts. One fruit can reach 80 lbs. Some Vegans and Vegetarians use it as a kind of meat substitute due to having the cooked texture or shredded meat.

The yellow coloured wood is used for making furniture, and it’s said to be even better than teak. Jackfruit is used to make the body of a veena, as well as other instruments throughout Asia and the tropical places where they grow.

The jackfruit has been cultivated in India for well over 3000 years. The wood from this tree is used to seat the priest in Kerala, while in Vietnam they use the wood for carving the buddhist statues for the temples. Meanwhile the forest monks still use the heartwood to dye their robes a distinctive light-brown colour. It’s the national fruit of Bangladesh, and the state fruit of the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. A special kind of stingless-bee is one of the most common pollinators in the area. The wood is termite proof and excellent for making furniture.

It has a moderate number of calories and high amount of protein compared to most fruit. It’s rich in anti-oxydents and anti-inflammatories like Vitamin C, Carotenoids, Flavanones. and has some of almost every vitamin we need. Tt’s high in minerals and fibre. It’s said to help manage blood sugar, boost the immune system, prevents skin problems, and its good for the heart.

Roots and extracts can be used to treat asthma, diarrhoea, stomach ulcers,

The Sacred Jackfruit Tree: This is the story of Jackfruit tree that appeared in a dream of the 18th century king of Manipur: Lord Krishna appeared in the dream who instructed him to carve 7 images of Krishna from a certain type of Jackfruit. out to the tree. Each image was installed in its own temple in various places around North East India. (Natives with this placement might follow such a pilgrimage as a spiritual remedy.) The Main temple is in Imphal.

As the story goes, King Chandra was defeated in 1765 by the king of Myanmar at the time. He escaped and found asylum in Assam. His uncle, however, wanted to get rid of him and told the king of Assam that he was an imposter. The ruse worked and the Assamese king ordered that Chandra should fight a rogue elephant to prove his bravery and innocence. King Chandra was very religious and dedicated to the worship of Krishna to whom he appealed for help. Krishna appeared to him in a vision the night before the fight with the elephant. He told the king to face the elephant in front of a jackfruit tree in which he would be present, holding a rosary of Tulsi. The next day when the encounter took place in front of the jackfruit tree in Kaina, the wild elephant, instead of attacking Bhagya Chandra, bowed before him with reverence. After this, the king of Assam decided to help Bhagya Chandra. With his help, Chandra led an army to Manipur and won back his kingdom. Krishna then instructed him to carve images of His out of that particular jackfruit tree, and to deify and worship them in temples built for the purpose.

Male Mongoose

There is no counterpart to the male mongoose among the nakshatra’s. The females are almost always in heat, 1 to 3 dominate males corral monitor and protect their females from subordinates. The females try to escape to mate with other males. The subordinate males will try to sneak whatever tail they can get, following the dominant couple around, doing his best to avoid the wrath of the dominant male, while waiting for his chance to get in. The guarding male will snap at, lunge at or pounce on any males that come near.

The warthog, the mongoose and the baboon: of course you remember this trio in the lion king. It turns out that these three are friends in real life: foraging together and grooming each other. This suggests a connection with Shravana and Purva Ashadha, though I’m not sure which nakshatras night relate with the warthog, I’m sure one or two of the nakshatra’s must have some underground connection to pigs. Uttara Ashadha has some connection via the elephant tusk which is sometimes the boar’s tusk. The classics also say that Satabhishaka rules boar hunters to remind us of it’s outcaste status. Something I found interesting was that Uttara Ashadha Sagittarius gets a relationship score of 28 when dealing with Capricorn Uttara Ashadha but only 18 when dealing with other Sagittarius Uttara Ashadha. They should avoid Ashlesha, the serpents; Magha, the eagle; Vishakha strikes from above. There seems to be a mixed relationship with Shravana, Garuda, the eagle. Those of Pada 1 don’t like Shravana, but the Capricorn padas like very much. They both get along well with Uttara Bhadrapada which also has some serpent energy. Perhaps it’s the underground lair of the snake that these folks like, the cave and the devilled eggs as well.

Special Considerations

Jupiter debilitated at 5º Capricorn: Uttara Ashadha Aquarius Navamsha Pada 3.

Pushkara Navamsha: 26º 40′ to 30º Sagittarius Uttara Ashadha Pada 1 AND 6º 40′ to 10º Capricorn Uttara Ashadha Pada 4.

Mars is not exalted until the 28thº of Capricorn in Dhanishta Nakshatra. Mars is still very as he approaches his exaltation point. There is still that sense of climbing, of .

Brihat Samhita: When Saturn transits Uttara Ashadha, he destroys the people of : 1. Dasarna: Yadav Kings in Northern Madhya Pradesh. There was a dispute when a king’s beautiful daughter married the transgender “prince” of a neighbouring kingdom without knowledge. A war broke out between the two kingdoms and Sikhandi, the transgender prince went into the forest of a Yaksha who vowed to kill anyone who entered her forest. But the yaksha felt pity and completed the transformation into a male so that when he returned, he brought peace between the two kingdoms. There are also theme’s of civil war, war between neighbours or war between brothers. Bhima fought one of their warriors when he subjugated them and was so impressed with his power of arm that he made him a commander in his army), 2. Yavanas (Yona): Greek speakers, Ionians, probably the first Greeks to connect with India. In Hellenistic time they rolled over Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of western India. Many were employed as Imperial Guards. It was said their whole society was just nobles and slaves. An edict of Ashoka mentions them along with the Kambojas as living on the frontier of his own lands. He also says that there are no brahmins or educated people among either of these tribes. There is a prophecies that “Mleccha kings of the Shakas, Yavanas, Kambojas, Bahlikas etc. shall rule the earth un-righteously in Kaliyuga …” They played a similar role in India as the Frankish tribes in Europe were doing by putting pressure from the outside hoards of barbarians who wanted a taste or riches. On the other hand they seemed to have made Pilgrimage to Buddhist sites such as Sanchi and played some role in the construction of the incredible Buddhist cave temples in Maharashtra.  3. Ujjayini: The home of Mahakaal & Kal Bhairavi; one of the seven main holy cities in India, a centre of early Buddhism and Jainism. A capital of the Gupta Empire in the 5th century. Renown for arts, poetry, theatre. Kalidasa was a master aesthetics at portraying emotion and all the different varieties of love. One was the story of the nymph Urvashi, who is loved by King Pururavas, whom she marries on the condition that she shall never see him nude, but eventually it happens and Urvashi returns to heaven leaving her husband crazed with longing, until a final reunion. Kalidasa’s most famous play recounts the story of a hermit girl secretly married to a visiting king, who leaves with her a keepsake that will serve her as a token of recognition. She gives birth to a son, Bharata, and goes to the King’s court; on the way she loses the ring in a river, where a fish swallows it. The King fails to recognise her and rejects her, and her mother, a nymph, carries her to heaven. When the ring is recovered by a fisherman and the King’s memory is restored, he searches for Shakuntalaa but does not find her. In the end he meets a boy who proves to be his son and is restored to him.  4. Sabaras regions as well as those who live on the 5. Pariyatra mountain, and 6. the Kuntibhojas.

Fixed nakshatras are auspicious for laying foundation stones and beginning any kind of auspicious occasion where durability, permanence, and long term, unmoving outcome are desirable. It’s a good day to avoid enemies, confrontation, war, and all kinds of unpleasantness lest it too become a fixed feature in life. Marriage and relationship consummation, moving into a new house, starting a new business. The classics might add that you could put a hitching post in the ground or build a fence.

Gods & Symbols of Uttara Ashadha

Vishwa Devas:
The Universal Gods

The Vishwadevas are not so much individual gods as they are universal forces of nature that we have to work with in order to gain both the external fruits of our work and the internal satisfaction. They say our actions are ritual, but to make all action ritual we need to act in accord with the universe (the Vishwadevas). They support the fruit pickers who support them. They are the givers of the waters who will respond to those whose lives are orientated towards dharma. There is much to say about cause and effect. This is the nakshatra that crosses from Sagittarius to Capricorn, where theory and dharma gets put into practice. Karma is the fruit of dharma: the value of our beliefs can be seen in our activity; but again, it’s not what we do, it’s how we do it.

The 10 Vishwadevas: 1. Vasu (goodness), 2. Satya (truth), 3. Kratu (will power), 4. Daksha (ritual skill), 5. Kala (time), 6. Kama (desire), 7. Dhriti (forbearance), 8. Kuru (ancestors), 9. Pururaba (abundance), 10. Madraba (joy). This represents all the best qualities of humanity. All their attributes are in this star. The warrior, the wrestler, the painter, the artist, the magician, the well-dressed man, the happy and successful men are influenced by this star. Also related with the Ancestors, brightness, skill, willpower, firmness, time, truth, desire, goddess, peak.

HYMN LXXXIX. Viśvedevas.
1. May powers auspicious come to us from every side, never deceived, unhindered, and victorious, That the Gods ever may be with us for our gain, our guardians day by day unceasing in their care.  2 May the auspicious favour of the Gods be ours, on us descend the bounty of the righteous Gods. The friendship of the Gods have we devoutly sought: so may the Gods extend our life that we may live.  3 We call them hither with a hymn of olden time, Bhaga, the friendly Dakṣa, Mitra, Aditi, Aryaman, Varuṇa, Soma, the Aśvins. May Sarasvatī, auspicious, grant felicity.

4 May the Wind waft to us that pleasant medicine, may Earth our Mother give it, and our Father Heaven, And the joy-giving stones that press the Soma’s juice. Aśvins, may ye, for whom our spirits long, hear this.  5 Him we invoke for aid who reigns supreme, the Lord of all that stands or moves, inspirer of the soul, That Pūṣan may promote the increase of our wealth, our keeper and our guard infallible for our good.

6 Illustrious far and wide, may Indra prosper us: may Pūṣan prosper us, the Master of all wealth. May Tārkṣya with uninjured fellies prosper us: Bṛhaspati vouchsafe to us prosperity.  7 The Maruts, Sons of Pṛśni, borne by spotted steeds, moving in glory, oft visiting holy rites, Sages whose tongue is Agni, brilliant as the Sun,—hither let all the Gods for our protection come.  8 Gods, may we with our ears listen to what is good, and with our eyes see what is good, ye Holy Ones. With limbs and bodies firm may we extolling you attain the term of life appointed by the Gods.
9 A hundred autumns stand before us, O ye Gods, within whose space ye bring our bodies to decay; Within whose space our sons become fathers in turn. Break ye not in the midst our course of fleeting life.  10 Aditi is the heaven, Aditi is mid-air, Aditi is the Mother and the Sire and Son. Aditi is all Gods, Aditi five-classed men, Aditi all that hath been born and shall be born.

HYMN XC. Viśvedevas
1. May Varuṇa with guidance straight, and Mitra lead us, he who knows, And Aryaman in accord with Gods.  2 For they are dealers forth of wealth, and, not deluded, with their might Guard evermore the holy laws.  3 Shelter may they vouchsafe to us, Immortal Gods to mortal men, Chasing our enemies away.  4 May they mark out our paths to bliss, Indra, the Maruts, Pūṣan, and Bhaga, the Gods to be adored.

5 Yea, Pūṣan, Viṣṇu, ye who run your course, enrich our hymns with kine; Bless us with all prosperity.  6 The winds waft sweets, the rivers pour sweets for the man who keeps the Law So may the plants be sweet for us.  7 Sweet be the night and sweet the dawns, sweet the terrestrial atmosphere; Sweet be our Father Heaven to us.  8 May the tall tree be full of sweets for us, and full of sweets the Sun: May our milch-kine be sweet for us.  9 Be Mitra gracious unto us, and Varuṇa and Aryaman: Indra, Bṛhaspati be kind, and Viṣṇu of the mighty stride.

HYMN CV. Viśvedevas
1. Within the waters runs the Moon, he with the beauteous wings in heaven. Ye lightnings with your golden wheels, men find not your abiding-place. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  2 Surely men crave and gain their wish. Close to her husband clings the wife. And, in embraces intertwined, both give and take the bliss of love. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  3 O never may that light, ye Gods, fall from its station in the sky. Ne’er fail us one like Soma sweet, the spring of our felicity. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.

4 I ask the last of sacrifice. As envoy he shall tell it forth.
Where is the ancient law divine? Who is its new diffuser now? Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  5 Ye Gods who yonder have your home in the three lucid realms of heaven, What count ye truth and what untruth? Where is mine ancient call on you? Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  6 What is your firm support of Law? What Varuṇa’s observant eye? How may we pass the wicked on the path of mighty Aryaman? Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.

7 I am the man who sang of old full many a laud when Soma flowed. Yet torturing cares consume me as the wolf assails the thirsty deer. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  8 Like rival wives on every side enclosing ribs oppress me sore. O Śatakratu, biting cares devour me, singer of thy praise, as rats devour the weaver’s threads. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  9 Where those seven rays are shining, thence my home and family extend.
This Tṛta Āptya knoweth well, and speaketh out for brotherhood. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.

10 May those five Bulls which stand on high full in the midst of mighty heaven, Having together swiftly borne my praises to the Gods, return. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  11 High in the mid ascent of heaven those Birds of beauteous pinion sit. Back from his path they drive the wolf as he would cross the restless floods. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  12 Firm is this new-wrought hymn of praise, and meet to be told forth, O Gods. The flowing of the floods is Law, Truth is the Sun’s extended light. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  13 Worthy of laud, O Agni, is that kinship which thou hast with Gods.
Here seat thee like a man: most wise, bring thou the Gods for sacrifice. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.

14 Here seated, man-like as a priest shall wisest Agni to the Gods Speed onward our oblations, God among the Gods, intelligent. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  15 Varuṇa makes the holy prayer. To him who finds the path we pray. He in the heart reveals his thought. Let sacred worship rise anew. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.  16 That pathway of the Sun in heaven, made to be highly glorified, Is not to be transgressed, O Gods. O mortals, ye behold it not. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.

17 Tṛta, when buried in the well, calls on the Gods to succour him. That call of his Bṛhaspati heard and released him from distress. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
18 A ruddy wolf beheld me once, as I was faring on my path. He, like a carpenter whose back is aching crouched and slunk away. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
19 Through this our song may we, allied with Indra, with all our heroes conquer in the battle. This prayer of ours may Varuṇa grant, and Mitra, and Aditi and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.

HYMN CVI. Viśvedevas
1. Call we for aid on Indra, Mitra, Varuṇa and Agni and the Marut host and Aditi. Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.  2 Come ye Ādityas for our full prosperity, in conquests of the foe, ye Gods, bring joy to us. Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.  3 May the most glorious Fathers aid us, and the two Goddesses, Mothers of the Gods, who strengthen Law. Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.

4 To mighty Narāśaṁsa, strengthening his might, to Pūṣan, ruler over men, we pray with hymns. Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.  5 Bṛhaspati, make us evermore an easy path: we crave what boon thou hast for men in rest and stir. Like as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.  6 Sunk in the pit the Ṛṣi Kutsa called, to aid, Indra the Vṛtra-slayer, Lord of power and might. Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.

7 May Aditi the Goddess guard us with the Gods: may the protecting God keep us with ceaseless care. This prayer of ours may Varuṇa grant, and Mitra, and Aditi and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.

HYMN CVII. Viśvedevas
1. The sacrifice obtains the Gods’ acceptance: be graciously inclined to us, Ādityas. Hitherward let your favour be directed, and be our best deliverer from trouble.  2 By praise-songs of Aṅgirases exalted, may the Gods come to us with their protection. May Indra with his powers, Maruts with Maruts, Aditi with Ādityas grant us shelter.  3 This laud of ours may Varuṇa and Indra, Aryaman Agni, Savitar find pleasant. This prayer of ours may Varuṇa grant, and Mitra, and Aditi and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.

HYMN CXXII Viśvedevas
Say, bringing sacrifice to bounteous Rudra, This juice for drink to you whose wrath is fleeting! With Dyaus the Asura’s Heroes I have lauded the Maruts as with prayer to Earth and Heaven.  2 Strong to exalt the early invocation are Night and Dawn who show with varied aspect. The Barren clothes her in wide-woven raiment, and fair Morn shines with Sūrya’s golden splendour.  3 Cheer us the Roamer round, who strikes at morning, the Wind delight us, pourer forth of waters! Sharpen our wits, O Parvata and Indra. May all the Gods vouchsafe to us this favour.
4 And Auśija shall call for me that famous Pair who enjoy and drink, who come to brighten. Set ye the Offspring of the Floods before you; both Mothers of the Living One who beameth.

5 For you shall Auśija call him who thunders, as, to win Arjuna’s assent, cried Ghoṣā. I will invoke, that Pūṣan may be bounteous to you, the rich munificence of Agni.  6 Hear, Mitra-Varuṇa, these mine invocations, hear them from all men in the hall of worship. Giver of famous gifts, kind hearer, Sindhu who gives fair fields, listen with all his waters!  7 Praised, Mitra, Varuṇa! is your gift, a hundred cows to the Pṛkṣayāmas and the Pajra. Presented by car-famous Priyaratha, supplying nourishment, they came directly.

8 Praised is the gift of him the very wealthy: may we enjoy it, men with hero children: His who hath many gifts to give the Pajras, a chief who makes me rich in cars and horses.  9 The folk, O Mitra-Varuṇa, who hate you, who sinfully hating pour you no libations, Lay in their hearts, themselves, a wasting sickness, whereas the righteous gaineth all by worship.  10 That man, most puissant, wondrously urged onward, famed among heroes, liberal in giving, Moveth a warrior, evermore undaunted in all encounters even with the mighty.

11 Come to the man’s, the sacrificer’s calling: hear, Kings of Immortality, joy-givers! While ye who speed through clouds decree your bounty largely, for fame, to him the chariot rider.  12 Vigour will we bestow on that adorer whose tenfold draught we come to taste, so spake they. May all in whom rest splendour and great riches obtain refreshment in these sacrifices.  13 We will rejoice to drink the tenfold present when the twicefive come bearing sacred viands. What can he do whose steeds and reins are choicest? These, the all-potent, urge brave men to conquest.

14 The sea and all the Deities shall give us him with the golden ear and neck bejewelled. Dawns, hasting to the praises of the pious, be pleased with us, both offerers and singers.  15 Four youthful sons of Maśarśāra vex me, three, of the king, the conquering Ayavasa. Now like the Sun, O Varuṇa and Mitra, your car hath shone, long-shaped and reined with splendour.

HYMN CXXXIX. Viśvedevas.
1. Heard be our prayer! In thought I honour Agni first: now straightway we elect this heavenly company, Indra and Vāyu we elect. For when our latest thought is raised and on Vivasvān centred well, Then may our holy songs go forward on their way, our songs as ’twere unto the Gods.  2 As there ye, Mitra, Varuṇa, above the true have taken to yourselves the untrue with your mind, with wisdom’s mental energy, So in the seats wherein ye dwell have we beheld the Golden One, Not with our thoughts or spirit, but with these our eyes, yea, with the eyes that Soma gives.

3 Aśvins, the pious call you with their hymns of praise, sounding their loud song forth to you, these living men, to their oblations, living men. All glories and all nourishment, Lords of all wealth! depend on you. The fellies of your golden chariot scatter drops, Mighty Ones! of your golden car.  4 Well is it known, O Mighty Ones: ye open heaven; for you the chariot-steeds are yoked for morning rites, unswerving steeds for morning rites, We set you on the chariot-seat, ye Mighty, on the golden car. Ye seek mid-air as by a path that leads aright, as by a path that leads direct.

5 O Rich in Strength, through your great power vouchsafe us blessings day and night. The offerings which we bring to you shall never fail, gifts brought by us shall never fail.  6 These Soma-drops, strong Indra! drink for heroes, poured, pressed out by pressing-stones, are welling forth for thee, for thee the drops are welling forth. They shall make glad thy heart to give, to give wealth great and wonderful. Thou who acceptest praise come glorified by hymns, come thou to us benevolent.  7 Quickly, O Agni, hear us: magnified by us thou shalt speck for us to the Gods adorable yea, to the Kings adorable: When, O ye Deities, ye gave that Milch-cow to the Aṅgirases, They milked her: Aryaman, joined with them, did the work: he knoweth her as well as I.

8 Ne’er may these manly deeds of yours for us grow old, never may your bright glories fall into decay, never before our time decay. What deed of yours, new every age, wondrous, surpassing man, rings forth, Whatever, Maruts! may be difficult to gain, grant us, whate’er is hard to gain.  9 Dadhyac of old, Aṅgiras, Priyamedha these, and Kaṇva, Atri, Manu knew my birth, yea, those of ancient days and Manu knew. Their long line stretcheth to the Gods, our birth-connexions are with them. To these, for their high station, I bow down with song, to Indra, Agni, bow with song.

10 Let the Invoker bless: let offerers bring choice gifts; Bṛhaspati the Friend doth sacrifice with Steers, Steers that have many an excellence. Now with our ears we catch the sound of the press-stone that rings afar. The very Strong hath gained the waters by himself, the strong gained many a resting-place.  11 O ye Eleven Gods whose home is heaven, O ye Eleven who make earth your dwelling, Ye who with might, Eleven, live in waters, accept this sacrifice, O Gods, with pleasure.

HYMN CLXIV. Viśvedevas
1. Of this benignant Priest, with eld grey-coloured, the brother midmost of the three is lightning. The third is he whose back with oil is sprinkled. Here I behold the Chief with seven male children.  2 Seven to the one-wheeled chariot yoke the Courser; bearing seven names the single Courser draws it. Three-naved the wheel is, sound and undecaying, whereon are resting all these worlds of being.  3 The seven who on the seven-wheeled car are mounted have horses, seven in tale, who draw them onward. Seven Sisters utter songs of praise together, in whom the names of the seven Cows are treasured.

4 Who hath beheld him as he sprang to being, seen how the boneless One supports the bony? Where is the blood of earth, the life, the spirit? Who may approach the man who knows, to ask it?  5 Unripe in mind, in spirit undiscerning, I ask of these the Gods’ established places; For up above the yearling Calf the sages, to form a web, their own seven threads have woven.  6 I ask, unknowing, those who know, the sages, as one all ignorant for sake of knowledge, What was that ONE who in the Unborn’s image hath stablished and fixed firm these worlds’ six regions.

7 Let him who knoweth presently declare it, this lovely Bird’s securely founded station. Forth from his head the Cows draw milk, and, wearing his vesture, with their foot have drunk the water.  8 The Mother gave the Sire his share of Order: with thought, at first, she wedded him in spirit. She, the coy Dame, was filled with dew prolific: with adoration men approached to praise her.  9 Yoked was the Mother to the boon Cow’s car-pole: in the dank rows of cloud the Infant rested. Then the Calf lowed, and looked upon the Mother, the Cow who wears all shapes in three directions.

10 Bearing three Mothers and three Fathers, single he stood erect: they never make him weary. There on the pitch of heaven they speak together in speech all-knowing but not all-impelling.  11 Formed with twelve spokes, by length of time, unweakened, rolls round the heaven this wheel of during Order. Herein established, joined in pairs together, seven hundred Sons and twenty stand, O Agni.

12 They call him in the farther half of heaven the Sire five-footed, of twelve forms, wealthy in watery store. These others say that he, God with far-seeing eyes, is mounted on the lower seven-wheeled, six-spoked car.  13 Upon this five-spoked wheel revolving ever all living creatures rest and are dependent. Its axle, heavy-laden, is not heated: the nave from ancient time remains unbroken. 14 The wheel revolves, unwasting, with its felly: ten draw it, yoked to the far-stretching car-pole. The Sun’s eye moves encompassed by the region: on him dependent rest all living creatures.

15 Of the co-born they call the seventh single-born; the six twin pairs are called Ṛṣis, Children of Gods. Their good gifts sought of men are ranged in order due, and various in their form move for the Lord who guides.  16 They told me these were males, though truly females: he who hath eyes sees this, the blind discerns not. The son who is a sage hath comprehended: who knows this rightly is his father’s father.  17 Beneath the upper realm, above this lower, bearing her calf at foot the Cow hath risen. Witherward, to what place hath she departed? Where calves she? Not amid this herd of cattle.

18 Who, that the father of this Calf discerneth beneath the upper realm, above the lower, Showing himself a sage, may here declare it? Whence hath the Godlike spirit had its rising?  19 Those that come hitherward they call departing, those that depart they call directed hither. And what so ye have made, Indra and Soma, steeds bear as ’twere yoked to the region’s car-pole.  20 Two Birds with fair wings, knit with bonds of friendship, in the same sheltering tree have found a refuge. One of the twain eats the sweet Fig-tree’s fruitage; the other eating not regardeth only.

21 Where those fine Birds hymn ceaselessly their portion of life eternal, and the sacred synods, There is the Universe’s mighty Keeper, who, wise, hath entered into me the simple.  22 The, tree whereon the fine Birds eat the sweetness, where they all rest and procreate their offspring,— Upon its top they say the fig is luscious: none gaineth it who knoweth not the Father.  23 How on the Gāyatrī the Gāyatrī was based, how from the Triṣṭup they fashioned the Triṣṭup forth, How on the Jagatī was based the Jagatī,—they who know this have won themselves immortal life.

24 With Gāyatrī he measures out the praise-song, Sāma with praise-song, triplet with the Triṣṭup. The triplet with the two or four-foot measure, and with the syllable they form seven metres.  25 With Jagatī the flood in heaven he stablished, and saw the Sun in the Rathantara Sāman. Gāyatrī hath, they say, three brands for kindling: hence it excels in majesty and vigour.  26 I invocate the milch-cow good for milking so that the milker, deft of hand, may drain her. May Savitar give goodliest stimulation. The caldron is made hot; I will proclaim it.

27 She, lady of all treasure, is come hither yearning in spirit for her calf and lowing. May this cow yield her milk for both the Aśvins, and may she prosper to our high advantage.  28 The cow hath lowed after her blinking youngling; she licks his forehead, as she lows, to form it. His mouth she fondly calls to her warm udder, and suckles him with milk while gently lowing.  29 He also snorts, by whom encompassed round the Cow laws as she clings unto the shedder of the rain. She with her shrilling cries hath humbled mortal man, and, turned to lightning, hath stripped off her covering robe.

30 That which hath breath and speed and life and motion lies firmly stablished in the midst of houses. Living, by offerings to the Dead he moveth Immortal One, the brother of the mortal.  31 I saw the Herdsman, him who never stumbles, approaching by his pathways and departing. He, clothed with gathered and diffusive splendour, within the worlds continually travels.  32 He who hath made him cloth not comprehend him: from him who saw him surely is he hidden. He, yet enveloped in his Mother’s bosom, source of much life, hath Sunk into destruction.

33 Dyaus is my Father, my begetter: kinship is here. This great earth is my kin and Mother. Between the wide-spread world-halves is the birth-place: the Father laid the Daughter’s germ within it.  34 I ask thee of the earth’s extremest limit, where is the centre of the world, I ask thee. I ask thee of the Stallion’s seed prolific, I ask of highest heaven where Speech abideth.  35 This altar is the earth’s extremest limit; this sacrifice of ours is the world’s centre. The Stallion’s seed prolific is the Soma; this Brahman highest heaven where Speech abideth.

36 Seven germs unripened yet are heaven’s prolific seed: their functions they maintain by Viṣṇu’s ordinance. Endued with wisdom through intelligence and thought, they compass us about present on every side.  37 What thing I truly am I know not clearly: mysterious, fettered in my mind I wander. When the first-born of holy Law approached me, then of this speech I first obtain a portion.  38 Back, forward goes he, grasped by strength inherent, the Immortal born the brother of the mortal Ceaseless they move in opposite directions: men mark the one, and fail to mark the other.

39 Upon what syllable of holy praise-song, as twere their highest heaven, the Gods repose them,— Who knows not this, what will he do with praise-song? But they who know it well sit here assembled.  40 Fortunate mayst thou be with goodly pasture, and may we also be exceeding wealthy. Feed on the grass, O Cow, at every season, and coming hitherward drink limpid water.  41 Forming the water-floods, the buffalo hath lowed, one-footed or two-footed or four-footed, she, Who hath become eight-footed or hath got nine feet, the thousand-syllabled in the sublimest heaven.

42 From her descend in streams the seas of water; thereby the world’s four regions have their being, Thence flows the imperishable flood and thence the universe hath life.  43 I saw from far away the smoke of fuel with spires that rose on high o’er that beneath it. The Mighty Men have dressed the spotted bullock. These were the customs in the days aforetime,  44 Three with long tresses show in ordered season. One of them sheareth when the year is ended. One with his powers the universe regardeth: Of one, the sweep is seen, but his figure.

45 Speech hath been measured out in four divisions, the Brahmans who have understanding know them. Three kept in close concealment cause no motion; of speech, men speak only the fourth division.  46 They call him Indra, Mitra, Varuṇa, Agni, and he is heavenly nobly-winged Garutmān. To what is One, sages give many a title they call it Agni, Yama, Mātariśvan.  47 Dark the descent: the birds are golden-coloured; up to the heaven they fly robed in the waters. Again descend they from the seat of Order, and all the earth is moistened with their fatness.

48 Twelve are the fellies, and the wheel is single; three are the naves. What man hath understood it? Therein are set together spokes three hundred and sixty, which in nowise can be loosened.  49 That breast of thine exhaustless, spring of pleasure, wherewith thou feedest all things that are choicest, Wealth-giver, treasure. finder, free bestower,—bring that, Sarasvatī, that we may drain it.  50 By means of sacrifice the Gods accomplished their sacrifice: these were the earliest ordinances. These Mighty Ones attained the height of heaven, there where the Sādhyas, Gods of old, are dwelling.

51 Uniform, with the passing days, this water mounts and fails again. The tempest-clouds give life to earth, and fires re-animate the heaven.  52 The Bird Celestial, vast with noble pinion, the lovely germ of plants, the germ of waters, Him who delighteth us with rain in season, Sarasvān I invoke that he may help us.

Natura or Physis or Protogeneia: The Goddess of Nature

Origin of nature as well as the natural order of things, natural law as opposed to human law). Growth and development and the natural order. Came into existence at the very beginning of time. At least one Greek school used the term to relate with all things of the universe. Nature vs Nurture. The natural instinct.

She connects all parts of the universe together: containing in herself intellectual life, by which she illumines the whole, unifying all the powers

Laws of Nature

5 laws of nature: Attraction, polarity rhythm, relativity, cause and effect. Some also add the law of divine oneness, or self-preservation.

12 Natural Laws of Karma

  1. Cause & Effect: The effect is inherent in the cause the way a tree is inherent in the seed.
  2. Law of Creation: Karma doesn’t just happen, we have to make it happen
  3. Law of Acceptance: We have to accept the past, accept who we are till now
  4. Law of Sacrifice: We are most free when we plan a head and sacrifice some of our time, money and energy for the future.
  5. Law of Growth: learning that we only have control over ourselves and working towards personal growth
  6. Law of Responsibility: When you take personal responsibility for something you get the power to effect or change the thing.
  7. Law of Interconnection & Interdependence: Everything is connected like a great tapestry and all time, past, present and future are
  8. Law of One Pointed Focus: Focus on your goal and don’t allow yourself to be distracted by things that will not help you get there.
  9. Law of Authenticity: Drop what doesn’t belong to you, discover yourself
  10. 10. Law of Unity: Love is the great unifier; spiritual path is what attracts and unifies; the opposite of spiritual life separates and repels.

Elephant Tusk (Ganesha)
Boar tusk (Vahara)

This represents almost anything designed to pierce or penetrate. There is something distinctly phallic about this nakshatra. Needles of all kinds are suggested. Many acupuncturists have placements here and planets transiting over Purva Ashadha brought us the vaccination, the jab, the poke.

The ivory tusks are said to be a blessing as they give power and majesty that allows one to rise above the other animals. It’s a powerful weapon of defence and can be used for digging, lifting objects, gathering food, stripping bark from a tree. Vahara used his boar tusk to lifted the earth out of darkness after we over populated it causing it to sink. A rishi had given Indra a special garland which he placed on his elephant’s tusk.

In Chinese culture, ivory is a symbol of luck wealth and high status. It’s often used for sculptures and carvings. Other say it creamy white colour represents chastity, opulence, virtue and purity. A pound of ivory is said to be worth as much as $1500 on the black market.

In Christianity, elephants represent temperance, chastity and patience. King Soloman’s throne was apparently made of ivory, as was a significant statue of Zeus, so it’s symbol for royalty and splendour has to be considered. These days Ivory has become a symbol of the greed of man to kill magnificent elephants just for their ivory tusks. Joseph Conrad used ivory as a symbol for this nihilistic greed in his novel “Heart of Darkness.” Besides sculpture, ivory is used for piano keys, billiard balls, as well as for specialised electrical equipment used in airplanes and radar. It can occasionally be used as medicine of a class known as ectoparasiticides, meaning it’s used for treating parasites, head lice, scabies, river blindness, worm infections and certain types of diarrhoea. Of course mystical uses are as a protective amulet to overcome obstacles, neutralise poison or toxins, gives the wearer strong virility. It’s hard enough to be sharpened into a knife, or used for spear tips. It’s an excellent material for tobacco pipes.

When Sage Vyasa wanted to write the Mahabharata he asked Ganesha to be his scribe. Ganesha agreed, but with one caveat: Vyasa had to tell the whole story in one siting; he could not stop. Ganesha then broke off one of his tusks to use as the pen for writing the the great epic: Mahabharata.

The tusk is also a weapon of war, it can be used as a spear or a missile; an object for penetration or piercing. Many carpenters have placements here, the nails, the planks of wood that go towards making a bed, it all fits. A few of the women I know with this placement have nails of their own, often long beautiful claws, especially with Mars here.

Planks of a Bed

This supports us when we sleep, when we are unconscious. It lifts us up off the floor and protects us from the cold and from the critters that run along the floor. Traditionally we find the Guru or the chief sitting on the bed while visitors spread out on the mats on the floor. It usually takes merit to sit on the bed, it’s reserved for the boss, the elders, the wise gurus.

I once read that from an esoteric perspective, Capricorn is Nidra, sleep. The reasoning being that since this is the most active phase of energy, it’s the most outward flowing place, that we are the most asleep to our true spiritual nature. In some ways, we discover the value and worthiness of our faith. What is it good for if not to help lift us up.

Wood as lumber, trees as farmed timber, the structure that rises up to a peak.

Health: Thighs & waists

  • Ivory = bones
  • Stomach waist problems
  • Thighs and hips
  • Eczema, dry skin
  • Arthritis, bone problems
  • Stomach problems, paralysis of the limbs, pulmonary disease
  • Poor eyesight or eye problems.
  • Minerals that are stored in the bones (Saturn – Sun).

Stars of Uttara Ashadha:

Sigman Sagittarii (Ascella), Zeta Sagittari (Nunki) Tau Sagittari, Phi Sagittari,

Ascella & Nuncio: two stars in the breast of the archer: Ascella means “armpit;” it’s also part of a larger constellation called “the teapot.” With Moon transiting here: build, ask favours but do not marry. The Chinese associated this star with recompense, satisfaction, and completion, filling up, finishing, and rewards for tasks that have been fulfilled. It indicates every type of good fortune. Favourable for wine-making activities, opening trenches and work of heavy physical labor. This mansion is also conducive to government officials, employees, and students.

Nunki, is an indicator on the chart of one who may be expected to be quite the authoritative orator on any matters concerned with the topics of Sagittarius and (Capricorn): Religion, Business, State or Foreign Affairs. Interest in long-distance travel and the ships and airplanes that make it possible is also likely, and it is interesting that the famous but very reclusive entrepreneur Howard Hughes has Phaethon on this star, a situation akin to having the visible Sun there but without the wish for publicity, even a desire to avoid it.

Uranus conjunct Nunki: Proud, industrious, aggressive, high government or business position, early disgrace, especially if female, favourable for marriage in middle age, sudden gains and losses, many friends, natural death.

Neptune conjunct Nunki: Practical, occult interests, wealthy, associated with large concerns, some domestic disagreements, defeats enemies, natural death in old age.

Key Themes

They are typically refined, soft-spoken, pure hearted, innocent, well-mannered, attractive and calm in the face of aggression; but despite all these positive traits they often remain lonely. It can be lonely at the top. This is also the only nakshatra whose ruling animal has no counterpart of the opposite sex: the male mongoose. They love their independence and tend to have problems in their relationships. They can set very high expectations for themselves and others, and if they are not careful, they can suffer greatly from unfulfilled or unrealistic expectations. If significant relationship planets like ascendant, Venus, 7th lord or darakaraka are in Uttara Ashadha, it’s like they will live a solitary life remaining unmarried. Highly structured intelligence, divine brilliance, honest to a fault.

These folks are often the global elite, conservative and contemporary in style. They are usually very self confident, independent, humanistic. On the Sagittarius side it’s not just human rights, but human dignity, honour, respect for tradition and ceremony. On the Capricorn side the greatly respect power, law, and policy; this side will also be more practical and less theoretical. A certain level of authority will be there and they will likely have good leadership skills.

They can be very insightful, visionaries who express their convictions and fight for a cause. They will not always ask others for help, they like to do things on their own. We find the meritocracy here. Merit is king, the best man for the job, they like to be at the top of the pecking order and they tend to be class (or caste) conscious. They Sun tend to reward purity. This not to say that they will show any favouritism, but they might select a more righteous candidate rather than the best qualified. We might keep in mind that it’s not just about winning, but how we win. Uttara Ashadha like purity of action. They usually have very high expectations. This is why they are so infamously single. Nobody can possibly live up to their expectations. This is also why they don’t bother asking for help, because nobody is really good enough. And anyway, they can handle it, they usually know how to do everything and they can be good multi-takers. If you ever work with them they will push you to reach perfection.

Uttara Ashadha crosses the line between human law and divine law, nurture vs nature. Very hard workers driven by a sense of purpose in what they do. They can be very honest and will take responsibilities for failures; especially as a leader. They practice what they preach and do what they say they will do. They will never allow themselves to be called out as a hypocrite. (Note Ashlesha directly across is just the opposite.)

They can be introspective, they are usually connected to the ancient wisdom of their people. They often suffer from status anxiety no matter how much they have; and nothing scares them more than failure. They want the sure thing and make the winning choice. Everyone has choice they will say; and nothing scares them more than making the wrong choice. If this nakshatra has favourable placement and favourable aspects it will be as if they have a guardian spirit guiding them. Of course they might themselves become a guiding spirit to others.

They can be great coordinator, organisers and delegators working government or corporate. All the Sun nakshatra’s are a power source of some kind. That make excellent teachers, mentors, professors, intellectuals, writers, and others who work to lift other up. Special interest groups and political positions are also indicated. They are not risk averse so speculation and gambling can also be a part of their life.

Utopian theoretical government, beaurocracy, government policy, rise tot he top

Pada

Ascendant in Uttara Ashadha (Sagittarius) Pada 1, Sagittarius navamsha: Interested in the finer arts and the finer things in life: art, music, theatre, spa life. They tend to hold themselves like some kind of royalty with some kind of entitlement in this world. They tend to have a global outlook, an open mind and an inclination for sex. They are spiritually inclined, but somewhat stuck-up. They tend to take care of their body, mind and soul, but can be a little indulgent. They are intelligent and typically know at least some scripture if they do not follow it in depth as many of them do. In regards to their non-dual out-look, it’s likely to remain on the   and will take various course and workshops in order to elevate themselves. Vishnu or Vaishnava side of things. They are nat tantrics so much as Vaishnavas who push the limits of orthodoxy. Many of them are guru’s philosophers, professors, teachers guiding their students towards the higher truths. They women with this ascendant are Queens, literally queens living at the highest strata of society. They are beautiful, tough, but still very feminine. These natives typically know who they are.

Ascendant in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 2, Capricorn navamsha: The professor becomes the honourable judge, theory meet reality hear. These folks are much more career minded and practical in their approach to the truth. They maintain many of the qualities of pada one: they tend to be honourable, learned and happy., but their inclination tends to be more towards work, career, duty and reputation. They can bring in much more wealth, but this is more like the husband, the breadwinner of the relationship; pada one wants to get away from work, so we get more of a materialistic mindset of a vargottama Capricorn. They can be very fixed in their ways brings wealth and prosperity. Marriage may be durable as a result. Bepin Behari say “these folks will pretend to be charitable but in actual practice they will be a cunning miser. He adds that it’s likely you fell from a tree at age 10 and that you may be injured due to some weapon at 12; but you will live for 90 years.”

Ascendant in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 3, Aquarius navamsha: Bepin Behari says that the “lower half of the body is lean and upper part proportionately bigger and thick. You are afraid of cold weather or your health will not permit you to stay in cold regions. You will have a high fever continuing for a longer period when you are 20 years old. The left parts of your body will be subjected to burns at 35 years old, but you will live for 90 years.”

Ascendant in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 4, Pisces navamsha: They might be a little dreamy as they dream of foreign lands, retreat, hiatus. They can be a bit escapist, dreamy, meditative or imaginative. The look of someone who has been isolated too long, that far away stare. Nicely placed for spiritual path like Ramakrishna. I suspect the list is short merely because these folks aren’t looking for astrologers.

Sun in Uttara Ashadha

Perfectionists, dedicated to their work or mission in life, working all the time, overachievers. divinely inspired confidence. They can be very hard workers, they do very well with their own business, last man standing kind of achievement. They are not particularly welcoming to competition, they have to be the best, there can only be one star on top. This Sun tends to favour men over women since they will be seen as bitchy and bossy, but the truth is, many of the men with this will be seen the same way. King of the Ring.

Some of the Greatest Boxers of all time have this Sun: George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Muhammed Ali. We find the elephant just being used for combat, seeking dominance, they are the alpha male in the group. It not just the fighters, it’s just how these people. It’s probably for this reason that a lot of them do work on their own; they like to be their own boss, doing everything, taking care of business.  This does not mean they will not work with others, they have their hand in everything to some degree, they are often a source of power for others. King makers in their way.

There is of course a big difference in the way we dominate others. Someone like George Foreman has Venus and Jupiter with his Sun so he’s s big teddy bear. Epstein has Rahu conjunct, which could give a narcissistic personality. Al Capone has his Sun in the 12th house (11th from Moon) and we know he used a lot of intimidation to make money behind the scenes.

This is the rooster in the henhouse with many partners, a whole harem of followers. There is some similarity in this way to Revati, the Shepard, except in this case they are are leading the flocks from the front rather than shepherding them from the rear. These natives are typically role models, someone others aspire to, and they will help lift others up as well. Sun nakshatra’s are all about power, and here we find the king in his throne. It’s too much heat for must of us, it does feel cruel, and of course if there are afflictions it could be actual cruelty. They are also about ascension and purification, they seek perfection. With the Sun here they will express themselves though it’s own medium and they are probably harder on themselves than they are on anyone else. Other planetary placements will influence the rest of the world to be this way.

The reason these people are so beloved is that they help uplift the common people, the workers, and labourers and wage earners. They are a man of the people. We’ve only elected a few such leaders

Bepin Behari Sun In Sagittarius: “Allows a person to draw upon their experience from the past which allows them to easily listen to the voice of their conscience. They will have an innate understanding that this voice has a strength and rationale which must be listened too and respected.”

Bepin Behari Sun in Capricorn: “They express themselves as if they are the top of the hierarchy. Bepin Behari says that the Sun in Capricorn will have a hard time making its message heard and appreciated by the individual. The voice will demand a high level of or morality and sacrifice which may seem difficult unless the individual has been prepared for it in past lives. When the personal vitality and charisma of the individual is not permitted to blossom, the individual at then physical level may feel his life is disintegrating but in this dissolution there will be the seed for fresh realignments of a permanent character.”

Pada

Sun in Uttara Ashadha (Sagittarius) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Vargottama. Pushkara navamsha. This can be a highly spiritual or theoretical placement of priests, popes, politicians, judges, lawyers, policy advisors, academics. Whatever they believe to be true is true, not much will set them from their course. They will plough through any obstacles that get in their way.

Sun in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 2, Capricorn Navamsha: Vargottama. Pushkara Pada. As long as everyone remembers they these people are the boss sin every circumstance then everything will be ok. They were born to lead, born to be on top. Executives and CEO will have this Sun. The females will be seen as more bitchy and bossy, but the men with this sun can also be over bearing.

Sun in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 3, Aquarius Navamsha: People’s choice. They are not leaders from the perspective of the establishment, but they are beloved by the people who will never see any wrong in what they do.

Sun in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 4, Pisces Navamsha: Pushkara Pada. Simple people who became great father figures. From them, great things sprung forth: project America, the Gregorian Calendar, electricity. They are themselves a source of power

Moon in Uttara Ashadha

The classics say that one born with the Moon in Uttara Ashadha will be kind, modest, virtuous, righteous, honourable, of a tranquil nature, charming, modest, heroic, happy, possessed of wealth and distinguished knowledge. He will be obedient and knowledgeable about the rules of virtue, have an excellent spouse and beget many sons. He will wander and like to have fun, and will have many friends, but will be distressed and have many enemies as well. The native abides by dharma and gains his fortune thereby. (The classics: Jataka Parijata, Sage Narada, Brihat Samhita, Hora Sara, Varahamihira.)

Positions of authority or sovereignty. Wise patrons of the people occupying a high post. Bright visionaries who has “seen the light.” The second 2 pada are especially auspicious for public service, Comforted by bright visions, protectors of confident conviction, and need wise patronage.

Moon represents the culture and environment we grew up in, and hence, the sort of place we are comfortable in. The Sun nakshatra’s carry us to the highest positions so with the moon here we are comfortable in such surroundings as we would describe through the Sun. Brightly lit, less shadows, at the top, original, procreative, singular. All of these traits at the end of Sagittarius are very auspicious. On the Capricorn side is more practical. This is the shift from policy and theory to law of the land.

Bepin Behari says that when the Moon is In Sagittarius “the attraction towards pristine existence, the desire for closer association with higher influences will be greatly pronounced.”

Astrology King Moon conjunct Ascella“New and influential friends, valuable gifts, love of respectable women.”

Astrology King Moon conjunct Nunki“Successful writer on science, philosophy, education or agriculture, unorthodox in religion, defeats enemies, many friends, illness of a Saturnian nature.”

Chamatkar Chintamani Moon in Capricorn: “The native is sexy, jealous, gain and success though others, grants wealth and attendants. He is honest and generous, blessed with sons, a scholar. Calculating in money matters. Afflicted Sun & Mercury will show want of determination and energy. If the Sun aspects the native is an agriculturalist but religious. Aspect from Mars takes away the parents and patrimony but grants him honesty and generosity. Aspect rom Mercury takes him to cooking and kitchen management, music and women. Aspect from Jupiter makes him interesting in agriculture and gardening. Aspect from Venus indicated that the native is a coward, friendless, wicked, condemned by the guru, husband of a crooked wife. Aspect from Saturn makes him a timber merchant, a debauchee with hairy body and he will be unjust.”

Moon in Uttara Ashadha (Sagittarius) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Pushkara Navamsha & Vargottama. This first pada is a power Puskara pada that gives global luxury travels, international celebrity culture, global political theatre, the bright lights and bright smiles. Due to the Jupiter Sun combination of this pada usually follow some spiritual path of at least reflect a divine light. With negative influences this can be a holier then thou competition. They will insist on the best comforts fit for a king; it’s all part of the high culture they belong to. It’s all ceremony, smile, tip the hat, do what you have to do and go home. Unless there are afflictions, it’s all clean and tidy and as it should be when your on the international stage.

They are typically charming, charismatic, intelligent, respectful of the gods and have knowledge of scripture. They are usually quite wealthy, stylish, well dressed, good citizens, good hosts, and respectful as guests

Many of them are father figures at the top of the hierarchy: by divine right on Sagittarius side and by merit on the Capricorn side. Obesity too much of the good life, too much indulgence can spoil their health. They can be enlightened rulers, faithful public servants, or at least give the public what it wants. They radiate a divine light to everyone without distinction. They can be inclined towards many partners and the men might have an unknown number of official and unofficial children with wives and concubines. They are typically quite wealthy and capable of providing for all of them.

Like to hear secrets and romances from other people while sharing their own stories to inspire those who are coming up behind them. They often have an eager audience, others to question their wisdom so that they can chip away the impurities of world philosophy; their own personal identity. Broad understanding of human nature. Optimistic about large undertakings. They have a very encouraging internal guidance that allows them to believe in their own power to take on big projects. Confidence and high optimism help them to realise their political vision. This is the source of spiritual energy: all that is good and holy in this world. They usually come from a very wealthy family and are capable by wealth and temperament to enjoy all that the world has to offer.

It’s said they will have the large, horsy, teeth we sometimes expect from Sagittarius natives. They tend to fight with their family or more extended relatives. They will have health problems at a very early age, but one will live until 90.

Moon in Uttara Ashadha Capricorn Pada 2, 3, 4:

Bepin Behari says that the Moon in Capricorn “Could restructure the psyche in such a way that the individual could without much remorse sacrifice his worldly pleasures for gaining higher experience.” Karma Yoga. The are comfortable doing, taking action to improve things for everyone.

They may be uncomfortable with their occult personality and intelligence. They seek to form institutions that are informed by this special intelligence. They may feel harassed and seek sanctuary in monasteries, convents, or distant places (even jail). If they feel like their beliefs are being attacked and they cannot win, they will simply surrender or move on. They can be particularly self directed in their cause. They can’t stand mishandling of a mission by those who do not fully understand the work. Mystic of psychic empowerments, may intuitively perceive hidden intelligence. They like to expose or reveal truths that have been hidden. Tend to feel a lot of emotional conflict because of the friction between their own bright intelligence being restricted by those around them.

Mars in Uttara Ashadha

They have a lot of courage and will be active seeking personal perfection, to be the best version of themselves. Their power and courage itself is a never ending well which they can freely share with others without any concern of depletion, unless this mars is badly afflicted by aspect, association or position. They are shrewd and powerful, great yogis and therapists like Krishnamacharya and B.K.S. Iyengar have this Mars. Great minds like Einstein, L. Ron Hubbard, transplant surgeon Thomas Starzl and Jeff Bezos. They show the rest of us how we can accomplish so much more if we just connect everything together.

Fire planets like Sun & Mars both give very strong alpha characteristics. With Mars these characteristics can be seen in ones competition. They are usually at a very elite level in their craft, whatever it may be. They are a hardy group of people, many of them are active in the bush, the mountains, the forests, they will do the work to get to the top; they will climb the hill to see the sun set so that they have to walk home in the cold and dark. They usually have good mechanical or technical ability. We do find a couple reversed fine artists, but they are not the pussy-cats in the studio, they were out in the elements, challenging themselves.

This Mars does not seem to inspire the kind of activities we see in spiritual people, though we don’t usually think of Mars regarding spirituality. But whatever it is spiritual people are actively doing, whatever and whose ever they have set up as their competition, not of it is especially spiritually inclined. These are the actions of practical, stubborn people. You can’t tell them anything, they’re gonna do what they want to do.

Astrology King Mars conjunct Ascella or Nunki: “Reserved, diplomatic, strong mind, courageous, energetic, straightforward, false friends, favourable for gain. This causes a disturbance in the knee, but this is not a serious problem. The difficulty would be only a dull ache in the left knee which would simply need to be rubbed to relieve the problem.”

Chamatkar Chintamani Mars in Capricorn: “The native shows courage and spirit of adventure, interest in heroic actions, high hopes, great efforts, good management, position, authority and success. Slow to learn but intuitive, interest in commerce and science. Gain through marriage. If afflicted, many difficulties and much strife with superiors. Unlucky for parents. If Sun aspects, the native in sincere, considerate, methodical. Blessed with wives and children, prosperous, much opposition and jealousy. If Moon aspects, the native is selfish, cold to mother, undependable friend. Aspect from Mercury brings many failures, enmity, losses through personal lapses. Aspect from Jupiter grants longevity, royal favour, trouble in foreign land. Venus bestows wealth, fortune and happiness; charming and loveable partner. Shart-tempered. Although this is the most fortunate and fruitful position for Mars, aspect from Saturn takes the native through misfortune and unhappiness even if the native is a great soldier, head of state. Learned but intolerant to partner.”

Pada

Mars in Uttara Ashadha (Sagittarius) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Vargottama. Proud, intelligent, but and opponent of religious scripture. Or they might weaponise their beliefs, their religion their ideology and use it to attack enemies and opponents. They are often athletic, powerful ashtaga yogi, dancers, daredevils. Both men and women tend towards celibacy as they channel their passions, their activity and their desires towards perfecting themselves. They are busy bodies, always doing something, always accomplishing something.

Mars in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 2, Capricorn Navamsha: Vargottama. Pushkara Pada. Powerful, intelligent, capable of being highly productive. They really want to be the best at what they do. They often get involved with the system in order to do this.

Mars in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 3, Aquarius Navamsha: One can’t help but notice the high level of intelligence these natives have for strategy, making unusual connections and interconnections. They are incredible sharp and capable of weaponising  their power. It’s perhaps instructive that a primate scientist would have a clear understanding of the role power hierarchies play in life. There might be a lot of pressure to perform, but these are not the actions of what general society things is sane. They are highly intelligent, but they can be compulsive in their activities. Two rare fine artists share this position of Mars, but they had an unusual love for nature. They are especially capable with tools,  They might get injuries to joints & connective tissue

Mars in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 4, Pisces Navamsha: Pushkara Pada. This is a common position of physicians, surgeons, active in the hospital and other brightly lit space at night.

Mercury in Uttara Ashadha

“Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence– whether much that is glorious– whether all that is profound– does not spring from disease of thought– from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect.”  Edgar Allan Poe

“Punk is about being an individual and going against the grain and standing up and saying ‘this is what I am.’”  “I’m not interested in being a part of anyone’s system. I’m an individual.” — Johnny Rotten

They will talk about their work, their personal narrative will be one of climbing to the top, they might even talk for a living. Their speech can be quite inspiring. The first pada’s off all the Sun nakshatra’s are especially focused on empowerment, sovereignty, and authority; rising to the top. They are excellent speakers and intellectuals. Several Popes have this Mercury, perhaps for their inspiring uplifting speech. They get the best students, driven and motivated; bu like Ayn Rand, they’re too individual. They seek to uplift the individual rather than society.

In many ways these folks don’t have real jobs, they’re just playing games, co-ordinating,

“I have absolutely no pleasure in the stimulants in which I sometimes so madly indulge. It has not been in the pursuit of pleasure that I have periled life and reputation and reason. It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some strange impending doom.” ― Edgar Allan Poe

“Men who reject the responsibility of thought and reason can only exist as parasites on the thinking of others.” ― Ayn Rand,

Astrology King Mercury conjunct Nunki“High government position, popular criticism, wealth, anxiety on account of illness to wife or mother.”

Chamatkar Chintamani Mercury in Capricorn: “The native is ineffective, fruitless voyaging, servile, a liar, careless. Sorrow and grief through wife and children. Want of faith and trust. Interest in chemistry and occult sciences. Aspect from Sun makes the native a great commander, fully developed mental faculties, innovative, gain through big business establishments. Aspect from Moon brings gain through water products, firm and fortunate. Aspect from Mars is most gainful. Aspect from Jupiter bring name and fame, status, learning and leadership. Venus brings misfortune through wicked partner, blessed with sons but debauchee. Aspect from Saturn makes him cruel, debauch, vicious, servile and poverty stricken.”

Mercury in Uttara Ashadha Sagittarius

Mercury in Uttara Ashadha (Sagittarius) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Vargottama. Person centred philosophy, or objectivism. It’s a good theory, but practically speaking it all falls apart. They are unable to get away from their own ego enough to develop a truly brand and humanistic vision. There sure are a lot of “zz” sounds in their names. Their life philosophy might be described as a little bit zippity-doo-dha. Like teen-agers their whole life: eat, shit and enjoy is all they every know. They might be a power source for adolescents, which itself might be a big elephant in the room.

Mercury in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 2, Capricorn Navamsha: Vargottama. Good accountants and books keepers. T

Mercury in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 3, Aquarius Navamsha: Intelligence seems to almost be at a peak in this pada as we see several top physicists with this Mercury placement. And we cannot miss the passion with which Greta Thunburg speaks of climate change. Spokespeople for the masses.

Venus in Uttara Ashadha

Men with this Venus will know lots of professional woman: strong, independent, intelligent, high achievers. They want their partner to bring respect and dignity to the union; to represent everything that is good and holy in the world. Relationships can be strictly business with negotiations centred around truth, honesty, communication and ideals.

Venus in Capricorn is in 6/8 angle from Gemini so the sexual communication and small talk that typically provides the first spark of desire is actually a bit of a turn off for these people since stories aren’t truth. The Capricorn side of this nakshatra will have a man especially interested in what his Venusian mate has done. The seek a woman of merit, a leader, a rising star. The problem is that this if often a woman with choice; she can go anywhere or do anything, and eventually she does. Men with this Venus are assured relationship difficulties.

They might be known as gentleman to a certain degree, perhaps working with women makes them a little formal around women. This doesn’t mean there won’t be hook-ups with women; it’s just typically the woman who will take the lead and push until she gets what she wants. This is Uttar Ashadha where they always get what they want in the end.

Venus in Capricorn is also in 6/8 relationship with Leo, the place where romance, individuality, risk and fun all happen. Being 8th from Capricorn we are reminded that that the fun & games can destroy the respect, reputation and dignity that has been so carefully developed with time and experience. It can be noted that the seriousness and work of Capricorn also destroys the lightness of the coffee break chatter of Gemini.

Goal directed Punarvasus are a perfect match. Uppity Pushya can de well with these folks. They are not likely to put up the manipulations of Ashlesha or the smokey wild howl of Ardra. They have high expectations of their partner and don’t like anything that threatens their reputation. From this perspective, Ashlesha partners can something work since they are so good at keeping quiet and keeping things underground.

The direct, blunt, honest approach to love can lead to purchasing love, prostitution, though therapies. No nonsense, no strings, no hassles; just a business relationships they are not particularly very emotional in relationships; though they will believe in fate and perhaps even soul-mates; all the more so on Sagittarius side of things where there is more hope, and a broad expansive light from the Sun rulership of this nakshatra. In Capricorn the light is coming from way up there on the top of the tree, of the ladder. Venus brings a nice sparkle to the light of Uttar Ashadha similar to his accompaniment with morning Sun Although getting caught with a prostitute can be a little embarrassing, at least they don’t have to lose they dignity with small talk and dating. They prefer to skip all the window dressing that typically gets a relationship going. Scorpio is 11th from Capricorn which highlights so they might have friends with benefits and other hidden relationships. It’s hard to get a sexual relationship while maintaining respect, dignity, honesty and all these highest qualities of Uttara Ashadha.

The sexual creative animal of Uttara Ashadha is the mongoose which can be quite ambidextrous regarding relationships. The men themselves don’t seem to be switch hitting, but the women in their lives might be bi-sexual. The same goes for woman with this placement. A few transgender people also have this placement, which testifies to the more neuter or sexual neutral qualities of qualities of Uttara Ashadha. There is a strong sense of independence in relationships and agreements. Many of the Sun Nakshatra’s act as free-agents; sovereigns in things related to planets placed in them.

The mongoose has no wife and nobody knows who the children belong to; they just run around fucking each other like bunch of dirty rodents. I had a herd of mongooses (mongeese?) enjoying my foyer one year; it was quite funny and frantic, just running around fucking each other without much concern for male or female. This is not necessarily true, but it generally true for the field in which relationships, negotiation, compromise to happen for these folks. They are typically looking for a partner who is pretty high on the social ladder. Faith, love, trust and truth all become blended to gather into moments of great inspiration. In the nakshatra scheme of things, there is no female mongoose to match with these folks. Despite and active sex life in their early years they might find themselves alone for most of their life. This doesn’t mean they don’t get married, but there might be such a high level of independence in the relationship that it’s the same as being alone or single. This kind of relationship doesn’t often stand the test of time.

Truth and trust are important for these folks and they scrutinise everything. This doesn’t mean these folks can’t lie, that depends on so many other things in the chart, but for relationships, making some kind of agreement, or for feeling true appreciation, they need the truth and they need to be able to trust their partner. The position of the Sun will make a big difference on the level of professionally of the women and sisters in this persons life: a powerful Sun will make one more powerful themselves so that women in their life will attain a similar or even higher level of achievement. Sun is truth and Venus is trust; it’s a subtle but important distinction that gets blurred with this position.

The Capricorn side might take on a more conventional style, they might prefer brand-name, but not so much for the name, it’s rather the high quality they are after, things that will last and will develop character of its own. They will like the originality and uniqueness of old things; beauty that is crafted by time and experience. They usually like architecture, temples, the steeple, anything that brings their gaze upwards, like the star on top of the Christmas tree. They appreciate experiential intelligence; practical and pragmatic. Trust is made by actions one step at a time and this kind of trust is a source of power.

The Sagittarius side of Uttara Ashadha is more global, international, theoretical, broad in it’s expression of style and artistic originality. They will appreciate the inspirational and theoretical value they will look for a broad mined, intelligent, humanistic and progressive female partner.

Venus conjunct Nunki: Heart rules head, favours from opposite sex, many friends.

Chamatkar Chintamani Venus in Capricorn: “The Native is impotent, foolish, attached to women older in age, weak, fear, heart-trouble, service, trusted, gain through employer, Gain and success through banking, stock exchange, commerce, etc. Trouble through marriage and high ambition. Aspect from the Sun bring honour, success, prosperity and recognition. Gain through wife. Aspect from Moon makes him bright, brave and rich. Aspect from Mars takes away the wife, makes him penniless and sick, but happy in the end. Aspect from Mercury make shim learned, wealthy, scientist, honest, acquisitive and name though public service. Aspect from Jupiter grants a faithful wife, young, adept in art and music; love for perfumes. Aspect form Saturn go yes stature, good complexion, a life of every luxury, conveyance and attendants.”

Venus in Uttara Ashadha (Sagittarius) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Vargottama. Global fashion models. Global finance

Venus in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 2, Capricorn Navamsha: Vargottama. Men will like a professional woman or executive. Many of the women with this placement have broken the glass ceiling in some way. Taken leadership in ways and situations that were deemed unusual at the time. Billy Idol married a stripper. We find the result of the neuter quality of this nakshatra here as several of these natives have changed gender or are bi-sexual.

Venus in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 3, Aquarius Navamsha: They love structure and can be systematic in the way they negotiate. They are often in the army when they are younger or have some king of martial arts training and it’s likely they are trained in martial arts or fighting; they have a very strong sense of honour. The level of practicality in the relationship border on prostitution. Most of these people make a living working with women and have many fiends, contacts and networks with women.

Venus in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 4, Pisces Navamsha: Venus’s exaltation navamsha. Excellent position for an astrologer. Appreciation of the stars perhaps. It puts me in mind of Tom Wait’s carnival song: Step right up. They have a very strong imagination and are able to make it come to life.

Many powerful leaders have this Jupiter it tends to make them are large, powerful and athletic. But for the most part they are bullies who use force or intimidation to get ahead. In the first pada there is a sense that they will try to do what’s right, but they have the intellect of a jock, this does’t mean they won’t be educated, they just aren’t very intelligent. Once this Jupiter progresses to Capricorn, all bets are off and it’s their way of the highway.

You could say that it’s not really their fault, they probably never had any good father figures and had to learn to survive on the street in a world where only the strong survive. This is Jupiter’s ethos when he lives in Capricorn the sign of hierarchy, meritocracy. And they get to the top, but they are more feared than respected. They don’t really have any direction or a true mission, they just want power, they just want to be one of the wolves rather then one of the lambs. From another perspective it seems like all they know are their rights, with little concern for their responsibilities. Power for the sake of power, trying to climb to the top while carrying all their baggage. They can get to the top by brute strength, but they are completely ineffective as leaders, they hoard the power.

In the first pada we have The Great One’s, by the time we get to the 4th pada we have The Dude.

Astrology King Jupiter conjunct Nunki: “Diplomatic, philosophical mind, writer, ecclesiastical or legal preferment”.

Chamatkar Chintamani Jupiter in Capricorn: “High aspirations, good organiser, intuitive, gain and success thro0ugh high positions, commercial and foreign affairs, patrimony, spendthrift and positive. If afflicted trouble through inertia, sorrow through friends. Debauchee & ignoble. If the Sun aspects the native gains much material progress, in learned, luxury loving, industrious and rich. Moons aspect makes him devoted to parents, brings enlightenment, develops nobility and is social. Aspect from Mars gives name and fame, a great army officer, dash and charming. Aspect form Mercury promotes commercial interests through travel, speculation and friends. Aspect from Venus grants a happy domestic life, noble wife, jewellery, attire and a palatial home. Aspect from Saturn makes him a matchless scientist, inventor, help from friends, conveyance, and affluence.”

Pada

Jupiter in Uttara Ashadha Sagittarius

Jupiter in Uttara Ashadha (Sagittarius) Pada 1, Sagittarius Navamsha: Vargottama. The Great One. Uniquely talented. They will have lots of podium ceremonies, trophies and awards.. They will dream of retirement for a long time and go away when it comes. They will be world travellers staying at the vey best hotels. They will have a lot the best of things in life. Their faith that this is the way of the world will be unwavering. In theory I expected a lot of guru: bishops, cardinals, popes, but there are none. They don’t seem to use knowledge or wisdom to get the the top, but good old fashioned action: they are thick, strong, active, top in their field with many opportunities in life to climb up the podium. They have a pure heart for their work, a strong work ethic, they don’t shy away from labour. In some ways they are great because they are humble despite their podium they are placed on and their mistakes and human failing just seem to make them all the greater.

They might follow a very liberal open and progressive beliefs. Many of them are athletes so they don’t actually spend to much time thinking about things, blind faith and steady belief are enough. But human right are also important to them, they are good and righteous leaders who try to uplift he common people. In many cases they seem to do the ones who are truly working for the common people, enlightened leaders who had enlightened father figures. They will never give up their morals for success, though their broad liberal perspective leaves the door open for almost everything to happen. They try to be morally upright and do the right thing.

Jupiter in Uttara Ashadha Capricorn:

One the Capricorn side their faith is diminished in the the field of activity. There is some fat in the system that slows things down and doesn’t always allow them to achieve their goals. Also on the Capricorn side we find a lot of corruption in leadership, bloated bureaucracy, From another perspective this is a lower working class mentality without a lot of hope for advancement. The end justifies the means.

Jupiter in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 2, Capricorn Navamsha: Vargottama. These guys have few scruples. Several of them are enforcers with no qualms about using physical violence. Bullies, who bully their way to the top. hey are leaders, but the rule by their own set of rules.

Jupiter in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 3, Aquarius Navamsha: These folks seems to be the entitled team captain or lead actor.

Jupiter in Uttara Ashadha (Capricorn) Pada 4, Pisces Navamsha: Physician, biochemistry, endocrine system, biology, spears, needles. It might be noted that Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh both made notable first in crossing the Atlantic Ocean, first by sea and then by air. These natives have. Strong spirit of exploration, they push existing boundaries, and live in a world where the boundaries between good and evil are blurred. Jeff Bridges did an Iconic role as The Dude, this is a good description of this pada. They are pretty laid back leaders in any case, everyone else can pretty much do what they want as long as they don’t disturb The Dude, The Man. They generally aren’t hurting anyone, but they’re not afraid to break established laws and norms to do what’s right.

Saturn in Uttara Ashadha

The people working for you may be celebrated Gurus or Professors. But it can also drive them to work harder (rather than smarter). And although they tend so seek approval from others, they can also be a harsh judge against others who seem to attain easy success.

They are often public servant who get some power from their position. But they also discover that it’s a lonely climb to the top. They are almost always working.
