Despite the independence of thought and action, they often have some kind of partner that hardly seems like partner at all; perhaps they were just paired up with some random person. In 26 July 1794 Robespierre was arrest, during which he tried to jump to his death, but just broke a bunch of bones. He then tried to shoot himself but was prevented from doing so and wounded himself even further in the mean time. On 27 July 1794 he was executed by guillotine to the joyous applause of the crowd who looked on.
